I need to get two of the same monitors, the two I have are mismatches so the resolution on both are *** up.

Ok, looking at GPU upgrades (just for the hell of it, and since I hope to be getting money back soon from college)

I have This and want to upgrade to This, good upgrade, bad upgrade? This is my current motherboard would rather not have to upgrade this unless really necessary (since I just got the extra 4GB RAM, I think 8GB should hold me for a while now I hope :| ) and lastly (if it matters) this is my PSU. It's not really that beefy but I would hope it would do for now (if I do have to upgrade that then I'll have to stick with just 1 GPU, I'd want to try to SLI those two that I am looking at if anything) any thoughs, opinions, upgrades (within a good price range mind you...)

I have a friend who is really handy with a welder. I bet I could build a stand for these.. it's kind of weird being able to see so far around me. I'm so used to having to rotate the camera every way.

TBH you'd have to upgrade PSU then and more ram would help....but why not just get a GTX 570 rather than 2 much weaker cards in SLI. SLI doesn't mean 2 cards running at max and Nvidia cards don't scale all that well TBH.

Seeing as we're on the subject, how about some advice? Not to say it'll happen now, but in the future I'm hoping to get a desktop. I have zero knowledge of electronics (except that I shouldn't get them wet) or even computers beyond the basic knowledge of how to use them sans programming. Would it be smart to try and build my own, or should I just buy a pre-made one?

Even if you've never built your own PC before, it's not all that difficult. There are a lot of guides out there now that give you step my step instructions and if anything you can ask some of the PC gurus here.

When you go to buy your PC parts, make a thread and list them here and you'll get feedback on it, or you can ask people here to list parts for a build.

Putting it all together is simple enough.

You could get them pre made with options you choose.

Like this site: http://www.superbiiz.com/system_index.php

Even if you don't see things listed in the options, just toss them an email and they'll customize it even more.

Good idea, i'm trying to do my upgrades in stages this time around since I don't have as much disposable income right now, GPU first, then PSU (or other way around maybe) then RAM, then Motherboard and CPU for last.

Unless I like win the lotto or get a nice chunk of cash as refund from college (but I doubt it)

The price is listed on the side. Then for shipping, I think it's a standard flat rate around $40.

It's like big kid legos with a couple screws.
That's it.
You can even see vids online showing you the steps.
TBH main one to watch would be applying a heatsink and thermal paste.
The rest is easy.
Don't expect the first wiring job to look good, that takes practice lol.

Wait and do mobo and CPU at the same time.
If you do MOBO then CPU you're still going to be stuck on the archaic LGA 775 platform lmao.

What do you do when you see a commercial with Sarah McLaughlin?

edit: For the record, every time one of those commercials come on, I feel like crap and wish I had the money to save every one of those animals.
