Good night Vyre! There will be no seduction by ferrets. I'm willing to be open-minded on Slip's ferrets, but I dislike every other ferret except his and Annika's. ^^
Wife didn't want ferrets either.. When she was living with a friend of mine, she had to share a room with his ferrets (and they didn't take care of them from what I've been told) so she grew to hate them.. I basically had to put my foot down and say "I want this, and I'm not going to stop til I get them"
I've always been a pet person, I just need a pet, without one all I'm constantly thinking about having one.. I yearn for the animal companionship..
Now I hate cats, if it's a friend's cat, the result is always the same, they love me and will meow and run up to me and sit in my lap and stick their *** in my face and everything else begging for attention, if it's MY cat, it won't give me the time of day, so cat is out. Whatever pet I have, has to be able to live within the confines of this room comfortably.. So large dogs are out, while they could technically live in this room, and just go outside for the bathroom, that just seems like a cruel fate to doom an animal to just because I need/want a pet.. So I'm left with very small dogs.. They're all expensive and..
The last experience with one, ended up with me having to give it to someone else. I'm still not really over it, but that little dog drove my wife crazy, and me to an extent.. It chewed on everything, and would not stop shitting on the floor, nearly every morning when wife got up for work, she'd step in a cold pile of ***.. Then I'd have to wake up to clean it up, and find at least 3-4 other surprises on the floor..
I just can't get up often enough to take them out. It's not physically possible, so there's going to be ***on the floor. This particular dog chewed a hole through our box spring and was tearing out the insides, and he also chewed up 100's of dollars worth of the electronics.. I really wanted a mini doberman, but settled on a chihuahua. I still miss and love him deeply.. The tag I made for him right after I got him, at one of those engraving stations giving his name and my number and reward if found, I still carry on my key ring, and I only keep two pictures in my wallet, one is of him. But after months I wasn't able to even slightly curb his habits, and I had to give him up.
I had already been bugging my wife saying I wanted a pet, and then through the miracle of wiki I jumped from article to article, til I somehow came the layout of a ferret's teeth.. Then I started reading on them.. Then I watched a bunch of videos on youtube, and went to sleep, 2 days later, the thought of a ferret being a good candidate for a pet was still running through my head, and I looked into it a bit more, and watched more videos.. After time to absorb what I'd read/saw, I finally declared I wanted a ferret, and it was going to be one of those things I wasn't going to be able to let go of.. The next day, or maybe the day after, I spent literally 6 hours just reading up on them on all kinds of different sites, I wanted to know exactly what to expect.. None of it changed my mind, everything I read, I liked. They're extremely smart, they have a sweet/loyal side like a dog, but the playfulness of a cat, they can be trained to go in a litter box (and a month later, both of mine are litter box trained, they won't ever maintain 100% accuracy, but the messes are very few and far in between, and they're never in the middle of the floor, due to a quirk in their instinct, they only go in corners. More so, they have virtually no smell at all, as long as you do not feed them foods made with fish.) the perfect pet for me.. And I don't regret at all getting them, every other pet I've had, within a month I regretted at least part of it.. (I've had a LOT at one point when I was really young, I had 20+ pets, not including fish) there was some behavior or problem that made me rethink why I decided to get them in the first place.. Not with my ferrets..
Not sure how this turned into a long winded rant, but the basic gist was, my wife absolutely hated the idea of having them, she didn't want them, at all.. Now she's in love with them as much as I am..
Oh Slip, I can't even imagine having to give up your pet dog. I mean, I bawled like a child the last time I even had to leave Pixel in a boarding kennel for a few days, and now that we have Dante too, I'm even more attached. They are like a son and a daughter. Giving them up would not even be an option.
It sounds like Annika and me were in the same boat as to why we don't really like them. Some of my friends had ferrets, and they were just horribly stinky, mean, biting little devils. Just about every time my friend even reached in the cage to feed them or replace their water they bit her, sometimes hard enough to draw blood.
Given the circumstances, it sounds like ferrets are the perfect choice for you and your lifestyle. That's lovely! Just because I've had poor experiences with them doesn't mean they are all bad or that others can't enjoy them. Just, if I ever visit, I'm not sticking my hand in their cage for anything. xD
Dusty (the one in my avatar) never bites unless she's playing, and she'll really only play with you, if you initiated it or sent the signal that you want to play.. Some day soon I'll have to get my wife to record while I show what I mean..
Chomper on the other hand is a biter, but it's not always hard, and he's yet to draw blood. If he's extremely wound up and had been playing with Dusty, and thinks you want to play too, then he bites a bit harder.. Working to train him not to bite now, but I asked around, and found it can take until he's 8 months old or longer (he's about 4 now) before we break him of it. My wife doesn't see the difference, but I do.. When he first came home, he was constantly biting at your feet, and if I stuck my hand in the cage, but he doesn't bite me in the cage anymore, and it's only occasionally he runs across the floor and bites my feet.
It's not actually hard to train them not to do it, it doesn't require a lot of work or anything, it just takes time. Every time they run up and bite, you do the bite hold thing or scruff them (that spot on the back of the neck you can grab cats by and they curl up) and tell them loudly and firmly, no.. Not really that involved, just takes time, plus they're only babies, so you have to factor in the baby training portion of the equation..
That's why I love ferrets.. They're just crazy.. That's a happy and excited ferret, and they do it all the time.. Just run around and jump..
Thats not 10mins.
and only my buff icons on ffxi look different without the gpu...
Odd considering such a thing wouldn't be affected by GPU and are read by individual files in a static non-rendered resolution.
Also ATI has always been the biggest source of headaches as far as their drivers and driver compatibility goes.
Never again.
Not to mention since ATI was bought out by AMD, they seem most agreeable with AMD based chipsets. Not that I have anything against AMD, but their CPUs tend to be underwhelming in performance even with the attractive price tag and longevity of their socket types.

***lasts forever though, at least for me.. Every Nvidia card I've ever had, dead within a few months, ATI cards live well past their prime for me.. In a couple of months, I'll be replacing my 4870, which I got when it was pretty much state of the art newest bad boy on the market..
I will admit the drivers sometimes drive me up the *** wall.. But I'd rather have driver headaches then having to replace the whole card, at least drivers are free.
And I do not ever use AMD.. I'm an Intel guy when it comes to CPU.
Yeah, ATIs have been known to last a good deal of time for what performance they offer. Meanwhile Nvidia is pumping out card after card, GPU after GPU that makes you wanna slit your wrists after having already blown $200+ on the card you got not even a few months ago.
But alas, that's the nature of the industry. I just try and find one that is a good deal and relatively on top of the food chain in model quality and is plentiful in VRAM.
But I might be lucky. I've had yet to get a total failure of an Nvidia card. However, I've had plenty of friends that have had their cards die out of the blue. Then again, a lot of this depends heavily on the manufacturer as none are built to a specific standard of quality. EVGA is definitely my only choice in that regard.
But as far as me being lucky to date..../knocks on wood
This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
