The other day I started to undrstand the success of Spongebob. I finally started to see it as a "successor" of the old Hannah Barbera from older generation.

Back in my kids days, my favorite cartoon were Tom & Jerry, Woodpecker, a coupld of Looney Tunes and Hanna Barbera cartoons.

Naturally they wouldnt resonate with kids form another time era, so Spongebob was the "replacement" of those old cartoon, thus why people around their twenties are so fond of this character.

This makes me think that every generation kinda of need a cartoon to mold their youth. And makes me amazed to think how things are less spontaneous and more cyclic than someone would think at first glance.

Spongebob is already old enough, probably it already made their impact in the people with 20 to 30 year.

I wonder what was the characteristic cartoon of people 10 to 20. Or even whats big right now.

My nephews watch South Park, used to watch Family Guy. Adult oriented animated comedy, not so much for kids.
