At times, depending on the computer. I would usually leave it as a backup for when a site wouldn't work properly (just to test it, etc).
In this particular case my browser wouldn't set as the default and I thought for a second maybe it was in the way so I looked it up and it looks like there was a way to remove it in powershell but not now. It turns out I had to go to the windows settings for the default app as the browser wouldn't set it as the default itself, which is weird but probably just a bug.
