It doesn't necessarily have to be boring. I could have done something computer based or business oriented (after enough college, pretty much anything's possible), but I realized early on that such a thing would make my life miserable. That's not to say that my current choice won't ever make me miserable, because life is what it is, and it's not all cakes and ale. That being said, I love the career I'm going into and I chose it because I knew it was going to make me happy. I'll never be rich; I've accepted that. But I'm going to love every excruciating, penniless moment of it.
What you gotta do Volk, is the same thing. If tech support is the bee's knees for you, then you should definitely hunt a position like that down. When you're lying on your death bed, are you going to be wishing you had stuck around for a little more money, or are you going to look back on all the stuff you enjoyed from a career that you loved? That's how I look at it, personally.
tl;dr: Follow your dreams and all that hippy dippy liberal ***!
