Wait.. So, in the world of Spira, you can die and if no one sees it you can become immortal, become a monster at will, still live a normal yet eternal life, retain youth or choose to age, and being alive and unsent is so similar that you can completely forget that you're dead?
I'm not seeing many downsides, only con is that you could undergo a severe personality change and end up stuck in monster form permanently.
Become unsent; tell 'yolo' to kiss your ***.

Something I don't remember being explained: When a person dies in Spira, do they dissolve into pyreflies or do pyreflies simply leave their body? Think about it; you watch Seymour die, he neither dissolves nor releases pyreflies, you also see Rikku's friend die, same thing. Home is littered with corpses, a possible explanation is that in these cases, the people weren't sent. So... What happens when one becomes unsent? Do they dissolve into pyreflies which rebuild the corporeal body or does the body just reanimate? Its more likely that it just reanimates but when the unsent are finally sent, they dissolve completely. Why am I thinking of this stuff?

pyreflies are just uh... like, aetheric energy. they don't have personality and aren't associated with each individual person; when someone becomes pyreflies, the energy is only being released. this is explained when you go to the farplane for the first time: you aren't seeing the dead, you're seeing the pyreflies' recreation of them based on memory.
and not everyone remains as an unsent. you only stay as yourself after death if you have something binding you to the world. Normally you turn to a fiend pretty quickly if you remain unsent.

You can actually see the answer to this when Tidus witnesses Yuna's first sending of the Sin victims. They remain as corpses in so far as their spirit hasn't been sent to the farplane.
As for Seymour, it was revealed that he was already technically dead and semi-fused with Anima.

I wonder how Maechen stayed unsent, he didn't seem to know he was dead 1000 years later. They say the unsent come to envy the living, one could assume Maechen never became envious of the living because he either never knew or forgot he was dead.

probably because he felt he didn't unravel the parts of the world that he desired. when you first meet him he says he's traveling spira searching for its secrets.

Just watched the Godzilla movie, I personally enjoyed it. Of course people are correct when it was slow to get rolling, but it was worth.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
