A new faster type of propulsion is a nice dream, travel the universe all in a lifetime. But it's too perfect, too childish of us to think we can just create that because we want it.
We've already managed to teleport particles of light across a distance so I wouldn't underestimate what is and is not possible.
We've also managed to create black holes too, if you want to go there. I still stand by my point.
Just a couple hundred years ago people would have thought the very concept of traveling into space equally childish. To deny something just because you think it is impossible is silly. Just look back a little bit and you will see things that were previously considered impossible become possible all the time.
If we had entertainment and plays/operas etc about travelling in space 200 years ago but people still called it silly, you'd have a point.

Completely different societies.
Yes and no, my point was not specific to space travel or just things we see on TV. If you went back far enough and tried to tell people that their bodies were made of billions of tiny cells working together to form a whole they'd look at you like you were on crack. Actually they might burn you but that's another story all together. Same goes for if you told them people would one day live to be 100 or that cell phones would fit in your pocket. Just because something showed up in a tv show doesn't automatically make an argument against it being possible.

Here you each sammich has a set number of w/e meat each. No salad by default but they ask you what salad/sauce you want of any. You also have to ask for double anything too,and yeah it costs extra

Maybe it's the Subways over there, but the ones here you pretty much have to ask for double meat if you want any kind of decent sammich that isn't all veggies. A single serving of the chicken & bacon ranch is like 7 small pieces of chicken and 4 pieces of bacon or something.

inb4 fat Amurican comment

nope
I always get roasted chicken extra leaf spinach and cucumber so both sides are identical thickness hmm yeah I could see someone ordering a thin meat and losing all hope of balance lol

:o I get roasted chicken with cucumber too! ^_^ No spinach for me...gross.

The part about the acid and breathing poison makes me think about how the Turians stuff is toxic to humans in Mass Effect.

The official Star Trek magazine has a section in each issue about things currently in development that match stuff shown in Trek.
This year's June/July issue had stuff about non-invasive ultrasound scalpels and researchers solving some kind of problem involved in teleporting stuff. Also some mention of the closest star comparable to our own having a planet in the habitable zone, so that'd be good for colonization and stuff I guess. Even being the closest, it's still 12 light years away, though, so those guys better get to work on that warp drive. :I

Yeah you have to ask here too, I just meant that the single serving is so little it's not worth eating unless you get double meat. Otherwise you might as well have an all veggie sammich.

It's supposed to be that way here, but the Subways are usually run by dumbasses who look like they are autistic or something.

It usually costs extra to get double unless you happen to be at the one with actual competent human beings and happen to be friends with them.

Just got back from the nutrition store on the next towm over. I played the "ignorant customer" to gauge if the guy was actually helpful or just out for money. He was an honestly helpful guy. Got the product I was looking for,and even after that on my way out I asked him where the nearest shop was because I needed a bottle of water and wasnt from the town and he tossed me a free healthy juice drink which usually sells for 3 euro. Needless to say he secured my future business and I'll be recommending the place to my friends.

The drink was pretty damn good too.
