Cannot wait for this lol loved the world and story in XIII despite the linearity of it. Lightnings hotness in that armor made up for the shortness of the trailer ^_^
Who cares if it only lasted 45 seconds if the chick was hot....wait...wat.
reading the posts, I am starting to gauge just how few a percentile of people that bought FFXIII actually finished it.

Very excited, damn do the new age FF haters ever stop? Put the freaking nostalgia glasses down and realize ff6 is ***. FFX-2 wasn't that bad and it was fun, wasn't meant to be as deep as FFX. I still need to beat 13 tho.

Nope got to palumpolum for the first time and stopped and went back to XI lol

I agree. All those people with nostalgia glasses calling VII the best FF are clearly HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE.
On one hand I don't hate that they're addressing the shortcomings of XIII and trying to set them straight. On the other hand...they're making a sequel to their critically worst "main" FF in a long *** time. I'd rather see a new game or a sequel to a game that was actually good if they have to go that route. But yeah at least they realized it sucked and they're trying to fix that.

Lol, +1.
Anyway, haven't read the previous six pages, but I won't be buying XIII-2, considering I gave up on XIII after a dozen hours of running down tunnels and listening to people whine. I've heard it gets good later, but if I have suffer through 30 hours of crap to get to the actual game, I'll pass, thanks.

Well, you're half right in my case. Got it, turned it off, definitely not going back to play it. At this point I'll fess up to just plain stubbornness, as I've got so much negativity gauged toward it, I have absolutely no reason to go back to it. I tried it, didn't like it, no reason to go back.
"But it gets better after the first 30 hours!"
No thank you. I have better games to waste those 30 hours on.

FF6 was freaking amazing at the time('95-ish?). I waited in line to get that title, and I've beat every inch of the game multiple times; got every character to level 99, beat the main story at least 10 times. Heck, I even managed to activate every character's hidden super attack from low HP. I know people who've beat the game twice over and never saw one.
You're certainly entitled to your opinion. You think FF6 is ***, I think FF13 is a steaming pile of fail. But, that's what's wonderful about opinions, we're all allowed to have them. If SE fixes the issues with XIII-2, then I'll be all for it. YMMV
I'm pretty sure no matter what XIII-2 is like, the world will still rally behind XIV being the worst Final Fantasy title made.
On another note, I find it interesting that they are able to design/code/produce XIII-2 so quickly, especially when they're working on getting Versus and Agito(the other two games in the XII trilogy) ready.
Imo the first game was perfect , yes the story wasn't as complicated & deep as FFX , but gameplay wise ; cutscenes ; graphics & battle system was superb .
I don't care how linear it was , the story was good enough to justify it , looking forward this sequel.
hope they release versus XIII this year too.
ppl like this are the exact #1 problem with the new Final Fantasy's..
"I don't care how linear it was , the story was good enough to justify it" Holy ***dude expect more out of a game u just paid good money for!!! Makes me wanna reach right though the internet and *** slap u for ruin'ing a good franchise ><
also i would like to note.. i only read too this persons post
and decided to write this. mostly cause i have a damn good idea how the other 7 page's already look... A massive FF13-2 boycott needs to be held or the Final Fantasy name brand will be ruined FOREVER!
this debate of previous "old-school" FF games such as FF7 vs modern FF games needs a narrative check.
1. FF7 today is not a better game than modern FF titles.
2. What FF7 achieved at the time, has not been replicated by any FF title since.
3. Comparing modern FF titles with older ones is like comparing a 2010 Ford vs a 1940's F1 Silver Arrow. At the time, the Silver Arrow decimated the competition and set new benchmarks in driving performance. It introduced some ground breaking technology. Today, a 2nd hand 9,000$ Korean Kia would tear it apart on the track. Compare that Kia to the silver Arrows Successor, the Mercedes SLS or SLR and you see where this argument is going; Previous SE titles dominated in terms of consumer satisfaction. Modern SE titles do not deliver.
4. I, and anyone else, can critique SE all we want. They sell ***...to us... I choose to pay for their ***, and provide my feedback, which SHOULD matter to them. Or I can choose to not purchase their ***, which SHOULD also matter to them.
EDIT: Fact is, SE should be delivering much better results than they currently are. As someone who has had extensive experience in sales, marketing, public relations and business development, I can tell you that the availability of more than 10 websites where my clients/customers/market discussed my products openly without any formal intervention or interaction with me, while also giving me the option of watching it all, would be P R I C E L E S S!
If I was able to read thousands upon thousands of posts talking about my products, I would fire my Market Research team the second I recieved 1 bad review from any major review entity like a games magazine.
The fact that EVERYONE here isn't happy with their products is just more testimony to what a lazy, lathargic and sluggish entity they are. Oh wow they have great music! oh wow nice graphics and visuals.... I can achieve the exact same ***as a small studio production house on a 10$ a month budget. People would never know about it though because the marketing costs and barriers of entry would cost me a fortune to deal with; things SE does not have to worry about.

Wow I feel old. I remember when the FF "old-school vs. new-school" debate considered FF7 the new modern one, versus the old-school 8-bit and 16-bit titles. I didn't really get into 7 either, way too much hype.

I'm 31. When I started hearing Pearljam songs presented on the radio as "golden classics" I got depressed. But these days, what was the in-music for the people who were in highschool, when I was 1-2 years into my first job like Blink182 and Backstreet boys is announced as golden classics, I feel down right ancient like my Aegis does sitting in storage.
EDIT: Generation X's disposable income is far greater than Gen Y and Z. Dunno why companies like SE are jumping the gun and marketing towards Gen Y.

The first time I heard Nirvana as classic rock, I was like "WTF?!"
***, even some older Green Day is classic rock now, "What?!"

Exactly FF7 was far from my Fav. but id gladly take more games like FF7 compared to the ***they turn out nowadays /sigh

I still consider 7 and higher as the new age too.
That's legit. It's when the series first moved to Playstation, and the format moved to a disc medium, with polygonal graphics instead of sprites. The game environtments officially moved away from swords(excpet for Cloud's big compensator) and slaying dragons, to hover trains, spaceships and guns.
Maybe that's why I couldn't get into XIII, it's just so disconnected from what I've always considered FF to be. I just can't connect with it and don't feel anything towards the characters.
It'd be like turning Mario into some post-apocalyptic, gritty, M-rated game; sure it sounds cool, but the original feeling is lost. That being said, I'm sure there are plenty of old-school fans who enjoy 13, I'm not trying to make a blanket statement for all us old farts.
watch MTVs documentary "Grunged"
At some point narrator says "24 years after Seatle"....
Want to feel older, look up an ex-girlfriend and introduce yourself to her wrinkles and 3.5 kids getting ready for their Pre-SATs.....

I'm 31 too, and yeah, I see old gf's on Facebook and I'm like "when the hell did THAT happen?" lmao
good point on the fantasy factor.
FF has morphed out of the fantasy genre to sci-fi/futuristic-fantasy.
One of the reasons I enjoy FFXI and would try FF14(a year from now, when I know the bugs will be eliminated for the most part) is for the lore and fantasy element.
Also, making known FF iconic avatars like bahamut and ifrit into airships in FF12 disgusted me. What they did to shiva and the other avatars in FF13 was like having Mrs. Univers undress infront of you, and then being asked to suck her/his/its ***... why se why?!
EDIT: Where I live, we are being asked to retire after 15 years of service... I know people who are 35-37 who have retired..*** Highschool and Varsity football feels like it was no more than 3-4 years ago.

Yeah, I was pretty confused when I first watched a summon turn into a race car... Wasn't Shiva a motorcycle? I was a little put off by that. How do you go from celestial elemental avatar, to a crotch-rocket?
After years of build-up and waiting, Final Fantasy XIII was released to so-so reviews. The game was a disappointment. But, if at first you don't succeed, try again.
Regardless of fan bickering or indifference, the game was a monster hit for Square Enix, moving over six million copies.
The game's developer, Square Enix, is working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.
The number of Final Fantasy games can be confusing for non-fans. Each of the games do not follow sequential order, so when Square Enix wants to do a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, the game does not end up being Final Fantasy XIV (which is a totally different, already released game), but Final Fantasy XIII-2.
There is a precedent for this as Square Enix released a sequel to Final Fantasy X in 2003 called Final Fantasy X-2. The sequel followed the exploits of Final Fantasy X heroine Yuna, and Final Fantasy XIII is expected to do the same.
Square Enix has only unveiled the game's logo, which showed Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as well as a new, unnamed character. It is thought that this character is Lightning's rival.
Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, which caused controversy by originally only being slated for the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is penciled in for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, right off the bat. The game won't have the wait that Final Fantasy XIII did. According to Square Enix, it will be released in 2011.
So... yeah... Wasn't a huge fan of XIII maybe they'll do this better? lol.
