Is FFXIII-2 better then the first? Part one was probably the most disappointing of the Final Fantasy series I've played.
They fixed alot of the issues FFXIII had actually
Yes, they even fixed the "difficulty" of 13 by making 13-2 brain dead easy.
By doing this they also made COMx3 super strong, which makes most combat really boring.
OK, I'll stop the 13-2 bashing there.
So gilgamesh is pretty rough? Going to have to get that once I get my disc back.
I have to ask. What are you smoking? What was even difficult in 13? I'm not saying 13-2 was much harder if at all but at least you had to think and find some stuff to advance. An arrow wasn't pointing everything for you. 13 was one of the easiest FFs I've ever played lol.
I'm really not going to go full out debate mode on this, since I think it's pretty silly.
But when looking at it from just about every point of view, 13 is a MUCH tougher game.
Both are RPGs, which in general are easy. Is 13 hard when compared to like Super Meat Boy, Dark/Demon's Souls or Trial HD extreme? No.
Is it hard compared to 13-2? Hell yeah. If you one shotted every random enemy and boss in 13 you are either a liar or you over leveled.
While I think that stuff is cool, you know it's all going to be singled out for a few dollars each.
I really hope this new model isn't the new norm for SE.
Make less content in a game then sell massive amounts of DLC.
I think SE just found a way to do less work and make more money.
While there were some things I didn't like about 13-2, overall I thought it was a good game. But the lack of content is one thing that bugged me, especially no end game. No, going back through and finding collectibles is not end game. FF 12 and 13 had endgames. Heck even 10 had a small one.
i just beat this today finally. went into the last stage with serah and noel with all 6 jobs 99 (i fight a lot) and was super easy. but wow, the ending was crazy, was not expecting that at all!
i still have like 20-30 more fragments to get i think, for all 160, and to see the other ending or whatever it is, but i been farming the 4 archelyte bosses for money and rare items since i beat the game.
overall i liked it a lot more than 13, this one was way more fun, upgrading the crystarium and getting monsters and upgrading them, and whatnot. all the extra stuff in 13-2 really made it fun. it's not perfect, but a huge improvement of 13 i think, anyways.
Paradigms:
RAV RAV SEN (Mystic Tower)
SEN SEN SEN (Tortoise)
MED MED SEN (Combat Clinic)
RAV COM SEN (Delta Attack)
COM COM COM (Cerberus)
RAV RAV COM (Relentless Assault)
Monsters:
Pulse Knight (SEN)
Dragoon (COM)
Cloudburst (RAV)
All infused with others' abilities.
I burned Lightning down first, then Amodar. Lightning was much harder to nuke down. Once she was gone Amodar fell over like a tree to a lumberjack's axe.
Omega was simple. Just wait til he does Wave Cannon, change to Tortoise, heal up, then pound him while hes overheated. Took about 5 rounds of this to beat him.
LOL i hope you guys didn't get too attached to Chichu cause best new commando in the game is V.Lightning she is an utter monstrosity on the field especially with her Break Damage Limit and Auto-bravery, now if you love your twilight odin or chichu but think you messed up on the stats no fear Valfodr drops them :D have fun with these new dlc.

LOL I got both Chichu and T.Odin, but never built them up, been using a Dragoon :P
Maybe I need to pull this back out and see these new "goodies". Think I got to like where you fight the giant tomato thing with Snow and it's been an attractive dust collection device ever since.
Added some funds to my wallet, loaded up the DLC Menu and its not updated with the new stuff. When will that be added?
Since I was there I caught up on a few outfits: Noel's Battle Attire and Spacetime Guardian, and Serah's Summoner Garb and Beachwear :P
Saving the rest of my funds for the new chapters and BLM/WHM outfits. Mog costumes? Meh.
Also, what role does Snow have?
In XIII I always used him primarily as a Sentinel, Commando secondary.
snow is a sentinel is he is *** annoying to fight all i'm gonna say is don't try and stagger him too much or you will die also if you are playing on ps3 DLC will be out tomorrow i think.

Sweet, I'll have an all HUMAN monster pack for once. Bunkerbeast is cumbersome and an eyesore.
Just got Amodar, he replaced my Dragoon easily xD
Sounds like Snow uses that Entrench or w/e that retaliates damage accumulated...so using that and you stagger him and wail on him for a bit....yeah that'll hurt O_o';
If you have an idea for a build for Valhalla Lightning, please share :P
Can't wait to try it all out, thanks for the info.
Halfway through Academia 500AF, 5/6 roles lv99, the last one is about lv89 for both characters. Rolling in CP skill really makes a difference xD
FINALLY finished up the Lightning/Amodar fight, got both of them at last.
DLC Records
============
Lightning/Amodar: Lightning 1/35, Amodar 2 fights after.
Omega: 0/12 so far ;~;
Typhon/Ultros: 1/2 (only got Ultros, 100% from perfect Cinematic Action)
Jihl Nabaat: 0/1 (Havent beat her yet)
PuPu: 0/1 (Downed the UFO only to get mass-raped by Meteor shower)
Gilgamesh: 0/1 (9,999,999 HP is too much, got him down to 7mil and he fully healed >.>;;;)
Also, if someone can post when the US versions of the DLC are up that'd be great :D
Holy *** ***. Not a happy ending at all. Very open for a sequel. I have to say I'm excited about it though.
I've read many people complaining about it being "unfinished", or that they didnt understand it.
I've also read about people blatantly saying stuff like "Can't wait for FFXIII-3!!" Even though I hadn't seen anything regarding its announcement before.
I now know why.
Two things I want to address.
#2 broken down into a few pieces.
1) Unfinished story.
Well, yeah. They do that to leave it open for a sequel to further explain the stories of the world that they have created. Personally I have been fascinated with every world each Final Fantasy title presents. Spira, Vana'diel, Ivalice, Cocoon/Pulse/Valhalla, etc...all of them have captivated me. I'm sure there are other fans out there, like me, who would love to see more of the world of FFXIII created, detailed out, and explored.
2) OMG WHAT DAFUQ IS THIS ENDING?
Apparently people dont pay attention to the story. 2a) Serah dies.
When Serah was released from crystal stasis at the end of FFXIII, she recieved the Eyes of Etro. It is notable for being the trait of the incarnations of Paddra Nsu-Yeul, the seeress of the Farseers, who can have visions of any moment in the timeline at any random time. Those who possess the Eyes of Etro are known for having a strong connection to chaos, since the Unseen Realm of Valhalla is at the heart of every vision, and all of time can be seen from there. Sometimes when a seeress has a vision, a glowing glyph is imposed over her eyes, which is supposedly the symbol of the goddess herself.
This 'gift' however, is also a curse, as it drains the life force of the seeress each time she has a vision, and if she has one strong enough, the seeress will die. The seeress knows the moment she will die(During the fight with Caius, Serah explained that she knew "the truth", but didnt care. She still wanted to save the future), but according to the law of the Farseers, she is forbidden of changing history in order to save herself and therefore risk dooming others to worse fates as a result.
So, during the ending, Serah has one of these strong visions of the future, the future that they "saved", and she dies.
Yes, its sad, and cruel, and *** up, but she knew it would happen, and she still wanted to save the future knowing what would happen to her. This makes her a very strong character in my opinion. How many of you would have done the same if you were in that situation?
2b) Chaos.
Caius Ballad possesses the "Heart of Chaos", said to be Etro's own heart, as a result of the goddess resurrecting him after he sacrificed his life to protect the seeress Yeul. This granted him immortality along with the apparent ability to Incarnate Summon at will, and become Chaos Bahamut. It also grants him some affinity or control over the chaos of Valhalla, which may have allowed him to create the paradox effect and shape the timeline as he pleased.
Caius's goal is to kill Etro in order to allow chaos to consume all of time, turning the world into Valhalla. When he is defeated by Noel the Heart of Chaos is destroyed resulting in the Goddess Etro's death. The game ends in a cliffhanger as chaos breaks through Etro's Gate. With the Goddess dead, nothing is left holding it back, and so chaos flows out unchecked, apparently consuming the world.
I cried like I did at FFX's ending. I'm not even gonna lie. :(
Fang and Vanille are safe, still in crystal statis. I wonder if they will have prominent roles in FFXIII-3, awakened from crystal stasis?
What really gets me though, is the image they show at the very end. Lightning sitting on Etro's Throne, seemingly in crystal stasis.
At the very end, did she become the new Goddess of Death, to watch over Etro's Gate to restrain Chaos, as Etro did? This is what I think because it seems like chaos stopped spilling forth as it the camera zooms in to show Lightning on the throne.
Very very interesting. Eagerly awaiting the annoucement of FFXIII-3.
As the meme goes, "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!".
I want to take this time to say, that, if you do not like even a single installment of the Final Fantasy series, you do not appreciate a good story. Every single one of them has had an amazing story. (Yes, I will admit though, that some were presented albeit poorly) If you think otherwise, you didnt get it. This is my opinion on the matter, if you disagree bring it to my attention in the form of a PM.
After years of build-up and waiting, Final Fantasy XIII was released to so-so reviews. The game was a disappointment. But, if at first you don't succeed, try again.
Regardless of fan bickering or indifference, the game was a monster hit for Square Enix, moving over six million copies.
The game's developer, Square Enix, is working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.
The number of Final Fantasy games can be confusing for non-fans. Each of the games do not follow sequential order, so when Square Enix wants to do a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, the game does not end up being Final Fantasy XIV (which is a totally different, already released game), but Final Fantasy XIII-2.
There is a precedent for this as Square Enix released a sequel to Final Fantasy X in 2003 called Final Fantasy X-2. The sequel followed the exploits of Final Fantasy X heroine Yuna, and Final Fantasy XIII is expected to do the same.
Square Enix has only unveiled the game's logo, which showed Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as well as a new, unnamed character. It is thought that this character is Lightning's rival.
Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, which caused controversy by originally only being slated for the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is penciled in for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, right off the bat. The game won't have the wait that Final Fantasy XIII did. According to Square Enix, it will be released in 2011.
So... yeah... Wasn't a huge fan of XIII maybe they'll do this better? lol.
