Why are people paying $5 to fight a monster in a video game? It literally blows my mind.
I actually enjoyed FFXIII-2; it was nice having some character development for once. I paid my $60 to enjoy a story, characters, gameplay, graphics, etc. all inclusive. Fighting Caius without the context of the story/characters is utterly pointless; fighting gilgamesh without any context whatsoever is utterly pointless (why the hell am I fighting this thing...?); same can be said for any of these colosseum fights.
Furthermore, why are people interested in recruiting these monsters/characters when they've already beaten the game? There's nothing more to do...
These DLCs are not amazing whatsoever. DLCs should be similar to side-quests or expansions that embellish the main story, that give me a reason to want to fight something.
That said, the Snow DLC looks promising if it is indeed a side-quest type thing. The Lightning one looks promising as well. Otherwise, spending $5/60 to fight a single monster is pretty much insane.

Well i buy these monsters for challenge (gilga took more around 2hrs to beat so its worth its price) and its 3$ not 5$ lol
Can you access the DLC if you haven't beat the game? Just curious since I haven't played it much.. if so then I could see how it might be useful.. if not then it would probably be for challenge if I did buy it.

I havent beat the game yet! Im trying to beat all of thew DLC low level
lol seriously going to say why buy DLC etc then say that about every game out there you beat the game DLC is useless blah blah, as many know FFXIII-2 is not really over and the fact that dlc they have added have been somewhat lame the fights in coliseum are just too much fun that gilgamesh guy is pure rape.
anyways i just beat gilgamesh in 3:47 XD i didn't let him get into rape mode.
Is that in hours? Because this was suppose to cost like 4$ right? Paying 4$ for a 4min boss fight sounds HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE to me. They could have made a dungeon or something to explore at least.

Try to find your tactic, i bet you wont beat him first time in 4 mins. My first win was after 2hr finding how to beat him + farming gils for elixirs and my first winning battle was 25 minutes long. Use brain sometimes.

It's in minutes he is definitely not easy i took me a long *** time to beat him the first time like 1 hr, but like it was said you have to use your brain to find your perfect tactic for him.
Edit: my usual team didn't cut it i had to use another set up to win.

I dunno, I think if i buy that they'll just keep releasing similar DLC. I really want to do the fights but I just don't support how companies churn out 4$ DLC that has no story or dungeon attached to them. I play RPGs for adventure, exploration, and story and I notice a lot of games putting out weapons, fights, armor, and other things that just seem to be a grab for cash and I don't really want to support that.
When companies start to do this I get discouraged from even buying their games new because I'd rather just wait and play the complete game with everything at once. But things like this, they could easily pump out 20-50 boss fights in a few months and I'd never be able to afford them all despite wanting to fight them. It's like when I look at the NIS games on the PS3 there's no way I'd ever buy all that DLC so I just put off buying those games. Or an even better example would be that Railworks 3 game on steam. 1,800+ dollars for everything... jebus.
Is FFXIII-2 better then the first? Part one was probably the most disappointing of the Final Fantasy series I've played.
They fixed alot of the issues FFXIII had actually
Yes, they even fixed the "difficulty" of 13 by making 13-2 brain dead easy.
By doing this they also made COMx3 super strong, which makes most combat really boring.
OK, I'll stop the 13-2 bashing there.
So gilgamesh is pretty rough? Going to have to get that once I get my disc back.
I have to ask. What are you smoking? What was even difficult in 13? I'm not saying 13-2 was much harder if at all but at least you had to think and find some stuff to advance. An arrow wasn't pointing everything for you. 13 was one of the easiest FFs I've ever played lol.
How many times did you get Game Over? I got Game Over a lot more than in any other FF main storyline I've played, but it doesn't make you repeat sections when you died so it didn't seem as crushing.
13-2's final area and final fights are also very challenging if you do no sidequests whatsoever.

They're all easy for me, I've yet to have any problem with any of them.

Most games are easy the point is there are definitely different levels of difficulty. 13 was one of the most easy games I've ever played. Outside of the random death procs on your party leader from the boss there was nothing annoying or difficult.
The difficulty in 13 was the Target monsters. defeating all of them was hard. If you think 13 was too easy then you didnt do them. since they put up a decent challenge
Optional bonus fights and sidequests in FF games are designed to be hard, the fact is you could run through 13's main story from start to finish and not face any difficulty at all. Random party leader death resulting in a fail doesn't make a game hard, just annoying.

every ff was like that though. i honestly dont remember 1 ff thats story missions ever gave me difficulty. even when i was 10. it was only the optional bosses that ever put up some fight.
Play styles differ, but if you try to rush through most FF games, a couple of bosses are going to clean you out and you will need to spend some time leveling. That said, if you actually enjoy the grinding process (like me), then you can breeze through all of the FF games pretty much without issue.
13 was different, I dedicated very little time to leveling up my characters, and rarely had issues with any of the bosses.

After years of build-up and waiting, Final Fantasy XIII was released to so-so reviews. The game was a disappointment. But, if at first you don't succeed, try again.
Regardless of fan bickering or indifference, the game was a monster hit for Square Enix, moving over six million copies.
The game's developer, Square Enix, is working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.
The number of Final Fantasy games can be confusing for non-fans. Each of the games do not follow sequential order, so when Square Enix wants to do a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, the game does not end up being Final Fantasy XIV (which is a totally different, already released game), but Final Fantasy XIII-2.
There is a precedent for this as Square Enix released a sequel to Final Fantasy X in 2003 called Final Fantasy X-2. The sequel followed the exploits of Final Fantasy X heroine Yuna, and Final Fantasy XIII is expected to do the same.
Square Enix has only unveiled the game's logo, which showed Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as well as a new, unnamed character. It is thought that this character is Lightning's rival.
Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, which caused controversy by originally only being slated for the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is penciled in for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, right off the bat. The game won't have the wait that Final Fantasy XIII did. According to Square Enix, it will be released in 2011.
So... yeah... Wasn't a huge fan of XIII maybe they'll do this better? lol.
