So I heard that they're selling single battles as "DLC," which just sounds ridiculous to me (though unfortunately other developers have been even greedier).
I don't have the game, but I was wondering how much they're charging for the DLC and how you guys feel about it. If you bought it, was it worth the money?
Is it better to finish the story first and go back, or try to get everything before going back to each place?
I just did the story part of Academia 400, I have about 41 fragments
I just kinda did what I had the patience for then fought the final boss. I have to get one more bomb mob called Cloudburst before I'm 160/160, but really it's up to you. But you do have to beat the game to get some of the paradox endings.

2.99. The fights are worth it. I don't like the look of Noel's DLC outfit tbh. :/
Gold star to whoever tells me where Cloudburst pops! The guides say Archylte Steppe ??? in the South-East part under Cloudy weather. So far only running into non-bombs and Debris bombs.
EDIT:
Shoulda just done this sooner. Guides are dumb. Only say "southern/southeast part of the map!" Not even the whole "down in the ridge ONLY" bit. -.-
Ah I see, I didn't know you got them as characters too (Lightning reduced to DLC? That's kinda weird).
Still not a big fan of the decision to sell it even if it's only $3, I'm sure the models and other assets are already on the disc. However it's sure as hell more reasonable than $25 mounts and stuff that's been pulled off in other games....
DLC is always going to cost money. best part about it is you dont have to buy it.
also just because they make DLC doesnt mean that the dlc should have came with the game. no one complains about sequels and how the sequel should of been a part of the first game =/

The difference is that the DLC came out within literally a week of release.
This is not OK.

sure it is. the game wasnt "Finished" a week ago you know. the developers still had a lot of time after they finished the game to make new ***.

Well the problem is that the majority of the time the DLC was already on the disc and just needs to be unlocked. So you're basically paying for something that you already bought.
I'm actually OK with endgame being DLC content, as long as the game is big enough to justify it.
Because let's be real. Most people play the game and beat the story and that is that. Most people don't level up their characters past that and do the endgame stuff.
But 3 dollars for one fight is a little silly. I was expecting at least a couple for 3 bucks.

Companies have gotten wise and started making them downloads instead of key unlocks, because people whine like crazy when it's already on the disc.
But from a development standpoint, it makes sense to make the DLC while the game is being made.
It's expensive to keep people on staff just working on DLC. Not to mention to horrible, long and expensive process of getting stuff certified to sell on XBL and PSN.

i believe it is two fights. or at least a fight between two new characters... that you get to use in your party afterwards. so 3 dollars for a fun fight and new characters is a steal. especially since mortal kombat was selling 1 character for 5 bucks.

Paying money for such an insignificant amount of content is stupid. Do I need to remind you how much content you get for ~$10 worth of DLC on most other games? The ratio of content:price is simply wrong.
You have to defeat her first in a fight and get her crystal; just like monsters you can tame. The Fragment skill which increases Crystal drop rates + Feral Link kill + having FFXIII save file before starting the game increase the odds of getting a crystal from a tameable monster. And I'm pretty sure you can get multiple Lightning Crystals should you want to try multiple builds to see which one works best for you.
Thanks~ Oh, and what crystals did you use? Just Potent? Figured that'd be best for a RAV
I used only potent since I didn't want to farm any others, the crystals you use are obviously your decision but with this build she ends up with roughly 1000 Strength/Magic and 8000 HP with potent materials.
Also I edited my post a little because I remembered a more efficient way of getting Siphon Boost II as opposed to leveling Chunerpton.
just got my secret ending, had to beat the game again and go through it all again...
what does SE hope to accomplish by this? 1st noel starts talking about seeing everyone again, as the "nice music" starts, a great feeling to the player as things seem to be a perfect ending and then boom theres death, confusion, and no real ending..
why would SE wish this upon their loyal fans? its borderline cruel and it feels like a slap in the face.
by far one of the worse pay offs ive had for putting so much time into a game. it makes me wish they left 13 alone, it was a great game with a great ending, then they had to f it all up.
they better have some good DLC ending to redeem themselves, cuz atm I feel they robed me. FU SE
I'm tired of FF games having magical, happy endings. This REALLY makes you want to find out what happens next, not just a random new XIII-3 or DLC. Caius is potentially the smartest villain to date, topping even the crazy Kefka.
CC made me wanna play 7 but by the time i got into the final fantasy series it was already into the ps2 generation and the graphics of 7 couldnt let me play past the 1st 5 min.
Well. Got all my fragments. Got the secret movie. Have all tamable monsters tamed (save for Omega). Got Serah's and Noel's ultimate weapons... Just need to get 100 pre-emptive strikes for the last trophy.

Ya 7 are the type of graphics that i cant go back to . all the others are fine. because they werent trying to be 3d. but 7 looks like ***to me now and i cant look at it without vomiting.
but back when i played it the graphics were awesome.
After years of build-up and waiting, Final Fantasy XIII was released to so-so reviews. The game was a disappointment. But, if at first you don't succeed, try again.
Regardless of fan bickering or indifference, the game was a monster hit for Square Enix, moving over six million copies.
The game's developer, Square Enix, is working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.
The number of Final Fantasy games can be confusing for non-fans. Each of the games do not follow sequential order, so when Square Enix wants to do a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, the game does not end up being Final Fantasy XIV (which is a totally different, already released game), but Final Fantasy XIII-2.
There is a precedent for this as Square Enix released a sequel to Final Fantasy X in 2003 called Final Fantasy X-2. The sequel followed the exploits of Final Fantasy X heroine Yuna, and Final Fantasy XIII is expected to do the same.
Square Enix has only unveiled the game's logo, which showed Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as well as a new, unnamed character. It is thought that this character is Lightning's rival.
Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, which caused controversy by originally only being slated for the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is penciled in for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, right off the bat. The game won't have the wait that Final Fantasy XIII did. According to Square Enix, it will be released in 2011.
So... yeah... Wasn't a huge fan of XIII maybe they'll do this better? lol.
