You kill em like any other monster, they make really good comando's too :o
He means how to ride them :p Have to kill 4 cactaurs from the green statues. But, there is a Gold Cactaur statue you can hit that will send you over to the water side. One sec, let me se if I can't find a map...
Here, youtube video. Tells you how to get all the frags in the Steppe, but it shows you the statue locations too (since they give you fragments too)
This vid is pretty usefull, however, are you aware of weather affecting the cactuar "Ghosts" the one for frag 8 in the vid doesnt appear on my map.
For those of you who have the collector's guide....the "Optimum Crystarium Development" chart for Noel/Serah....is that a good path to take? Or is it better to just do it myself? So far im trying to follow it but its tough. Unlock SYN/SAB before MED? Wtf.
i have yet to purchase the game, but i have a quick question for those that do have it.
is it possible to set the voice dialog to japanese, but have english subtitles for a na game? i dont really like the sound of the english voice actors :x

I haven't treid, but according to this website. You can do whatever you want. But it could only be in Asian copies of the game.
way cool, thanks man! maybe i should have done a simple google search lol, but some of the other info about the languages is awesome too. its nice to see a moderately decent-great game become more accessible.
Been playing the game for 25 hours or so now. Getting near the end of the storyline I think. However, I'm posting to just say how much I love this song, especially around the 35 second mark when the violin takes over:
You really had to rush through it to beat it in 2 days. I have about 12.5hrs in, 6 zones unlocked and 18 fragments.
I had all roles 60+ save for COM on Noel(75) and RAV on Serah (75) along with 100ish/160 fragments. And I beat the game in two days. >_> Actually, technically speaking, I bought it at 10:00AM on Tuseday of it's release, then beat it at about 2 or 3 AM on Thursday so that's more like 16-17 hours. :x

I didn't buy the guide (though now I wish I did just so I could find all the mosnters for this dumb quest,) but I did Medic before any other role when it was listed. But I do have a question; if you level up a role on a big crystal (with the bonus effect based on role) can you break 10k HP on noel? I did everything to 60, then COM > RAV > SEN > MED > SYN > SAB to 99 in that order.
I admit at first I was a little weary of this sequel (ohgod ffx-2) but have been pleasantly surprised thus far. It's not like XIII either, you have much more freedom right from the start and early on to explore other timeframes, and build your roles as you please. Also the introduction on Poke- I mean, monsters is very addicting, gotta catch em all etc.
I also am pleased with finally obtaining gil after each fight, and I appear to receive a lot more spoils such as potions and antidotes for my hard-earned 5star work then in 13.
This has a more FF9 feel to me, where treasure and skill gains (Crystarium, whatever) play a vital role in the game, it's actually fun to obtain the max skills possible, and later I can apparently get outfits? SO COOL.

The voice acting actually isn't that bad in XIII-2. Snow's voice is still a bit annoying and Mog'll get really annoying after a while.
Kupo this, kupo that. Like, seriously. I think he goes 2 or 3 sentences in the entire game without saying kupo. I understand he's a mog, but jeez.
"This is an anomaly, kupo. You have to solve the puzzle to fix it, kupo. Good luck, kupo!" All in one...

I can't wait for the downloadable content.
FF9 was possibly my fav but 10 might take it because of the awh factor it had when i first played it.
i think the main reason they added gil to the end of each battle (ty) was because you have to level up your monsters and buyings the items can get expensive.
and im very pleased with the game so far. sadly not too far into it but a great game (love the more in depth battle system)
i think the main reason they added gil to the end of each battle (ty) was because they realized thier mistake that they had stuck with in XI/XII/XIII/XIV

fixed. :<
now you're just reading my mind :P
Fixed again! :o
Also, anyone have a link (in english >_>) to a bestiary?
seems u can only buy potent crytals and the power/mana crystals gotta be farmed :(
if u lookin for a good grind i found leveling a gold/silver chocobo using all potent items and doing chocobo races for 2 collectors acc items to be pretty easy and worthwhile. Races with this chocobo are soooo easy lol.
add gillfinder from bucabo gobs @ Archylte Steppe to w/e ur main mob or mobs are as well as itemfinder from the bird mobs in dying world.
then spam the don tonberry @ Bresha Ruins - AF100 if u have the fragment skill for making rare spawns common, which i think u get from 100% all maps, which is easy. if you cant do that one, grinding in the rain @ Archylte Steppe works very well too and u farm all the highest monster upgrade items. both grinds can be done before beating the game.
I been spamming don in about a min for about 40k gil each time.
2 collectors acc items, 1 on each chara as well as a mob with gilfinder all stack.
Potent Crystals can be farmed from Microchu's in the steppe's Marsh where Ochu was. They come in packs of 4+ so drops are plentiful. And stick to Potent anything. They provide better stats over the specialized ones.

potent crystals not a prob for me, they the easiest to farm and buy, I did not know they were better than the power/mana crystals though, I thought the potents were more of a balance item, are you sure they give bigger upgrades?

Yeah. As I was getting further into their grids, I was getting +50+ of Magic and Strength each time, on top of 10-20 bonuses and +100-200 HP.

well regardless, as u get further the upgrades get bigger too. ima have to test it out, i really hope you are right lol.

Meh, it's what the book said. I'd look up where to get their counter-parts, but the book only gives locations of prime farming locations of the potent stuff.
pretty sure the steppe is the best place for them anyways, ima just say fk it and asume u got it right and finish off my other 3 chocos in the 80's with potents lol.
No, I turned on the scope too late. I need to go through that again. And holy crap, the 2 fights you have to do as Serah and your monster and then later as Noel isn't that easy. Try to do anything and he just throws you into the air. -.-
u can re-open ur gate if u dont have access to New Bodhum AF700. You dont have to do anything special, just return to that zone after you beat the game, just go there and look around for 2 fragments, might have to use kupo. and for those fights ur gonna want to fully cap ur charas out.
After years of build-up and waiting, Final Fantasy XIII was released to so-so reviews. The game was a disappointment. But, if at first you don't succeed, try again.
Regardless of fan bickering or indifference, the game was a monster hit for Square Enix, moving over six million copies.
The game's developer, Square Enix, is working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.
The number of Final Fantasy games can be confusing for non-fans. Each of the games do not follow sequential order, so when Square Enix wants to do a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, the game does not end up being Final Fantasy XIV (which is a totally different, already released game), but Final Fantasy XIII-2.
There is a precedent for this as Square Enix released a sequel to Final Fantasy X in 2003 called Final Fantasy X-2. The sequel followed the exploits of Final Fantasy X heroine Yuna, and Final Fantasy XIII is expected to do the same.
Square Enix has only unveiled the game's logo, which showed Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as well as a new, unnamed character. It is thought that this character is Lightning's rival.
Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, which caused controversy by originally only being slated for the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is penciled in for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, right off the bat. The game won't have the wait that Final Fantasy XIII did. According to Square Enix, it will be released in 2011.
So... yeah... Wasn't a huge fan of XIII maybe they'll do this better? lol.
