Mines in the mail.. I really enjoyed FFXIII and I now have a nice big HDTV I can't wait to get it.. My only worry is from what I know, they've changed things up a bit, and I'm worried now I won't like it as much.. I am not a FF fan.. I didn't (actually) play FF7 until AFTER I had already reached level 75 (max at the time) in FFXI, I only started playing FFXI because a friend wanted me to play with him, and kept pushing me into it.. I was actually just content with MMOFPS and Single player action games.. I didn't 'like' FFXIII because I'm a FF fan, I liked it simply because I liked the story (don't start firing off other games, it won't work, trust me.) but more so I liked the game play. I want XIII-2 more so as an 'expansion' and 'new stuff to go do' than to actually learn the story (although it's not exactly a bad point.)
I did play VII when it was first out, the friend who got me into XI, has been a long term fan of the FF series, I played parts and watched him play the whole game of VII more or less, but I never did it myself until many, many years later. I just never got it or was interested..
7 was the first i played, and it kind of got me hooked on RPGs in a sense, i loved 8 also but then i thought they went down hill until 12, i really could not get into 10 as much as the others. Even though 13 felt a little linear at the start once it opened up and you could access the hunts etc i loved it, played through it 5 times to get my platinum trophy for ps3 lol.
Well I'm sure plenty of people will disagree with me but since the release of playstation I thought the best game they came out with was 12. I can replay that game 1 ot 2 times a year and have a great time. 13 had no creativity and very little end game content. Yay I can farm turtle for platinum ingots to get relics woohoo. I don't know why but I will still buy 13-2 so I guess I'm feeding the beast.
Man those relics were a lot of work.
In a lot of RPGS, the "endgame" was one boss that dropped some stupid powerful sword that you didn't need because it just dropped off the hardest enemy in the game.
Not so in FF12.
In FF12 you had better get to grinding those relics because you are going to need them against the nastiest NMs, err marks in the game.
FF12 had a true endgame, unlike 99% of RPGs. You could beat the game at level 35ish easily, but even the middle tier marks were level 50ish.
I would give FF12 a 9.9. I would give it a perfect 10 if it wasn't for having to stand around while you put away your weapons. ARGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Oh and 13-2 is a lot more enjoyable for me than 13. I've only played the demo, but I played it twice. I also had about 2.5 hours clocked in just on the demo. I'm going to be picking this up, but not anytime soon. Gonna wait for a price drop on this one.
Damnit.. I know now the ending is left open and there's likely to be a third, and that there are mutliple endings.. Would someone else like to destroy the experience as well? I mean maybe someone can just go ahead and give a summary of the whole thing in a few paragraphs..
-Snape kills Dumbledore.
-Leonardo Dicaprio dies at the end of Titanic, only to wake up on some beach in a dream that's in a dream.
-Rosebud was the Sleigh.
-Everyone was dead on Lost.
-The father is actually the girl's "imaginary friend" and the killer in Hide and Seek.
-Captain Quin dies in Jaws.
-Bruce Willis is actually dead the entire time in The Sixth Sense.
I got it on release date from amazon, I am really enjoying it. they sure as hell flipped the linearity to the other side of the spectrum, hell you can even beat the game without seeing half the content, its just your choice. definitely a lot of great improvements though, i like that you don't lose if your main character dies (and you can switch control of characters.)
like pretty much any sequel type game released by SE it has a ton of gimicky stuff, but i think its all really fun. and while the story isn't as deep as XIII was, since it has so much control, its still pretty interesting (im not all that far into it though, been doing all the side quests and such.) Caius is a well made villain i think, though... a rather obvious copy of kain from IV >.> hell he even has the same VA in the english version XD but I'm not complaining since Kain was a great character
Gold chocobo's in the dying world, in the middle chunk of map, it's kind of on the left and middle? It's just a regular chest if I recall, not hidden or anything

After years of build-up and waiting, Final Fantasy XIII was released to so-so reviews. The game was a disappointment. But, if at first you don't succeed, try again.
Regardless of fan bickering or indifference, the game was a monster hit for Square Enix, moving over six million copies.
The game's developer, Square Enix, is working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.
The number of Final Fantasy games can be confusing for non-fans. Each of the games do not follow sequential order, so when Square Enix wants to do a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, the game does not end up being Final Fantasy XIV (which is a totally different, already released game), but Final Fantasy XIII-2.
There is a precedent for this as Square Enix released a sequel to Final Fantasy X in 2003 called Final Fantasy X-2. The sequel followed the exploits of Final Fantasy X heroine Yuna, and Final Fantasy XIII is expected to do the same.
Square Enix has only unveiled the game's logo, which showed Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as well as a new, unnamed character. It is thought that this character is Lightning's rival.
Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, which caused controversy by originally only being slated for the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is penciled in for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, right off the bat. The game won't have the wait that Final Fantasy XIII did. According to Square Enix, it will be released in 2011.
So... yeah... Wasn't a huge fan of XIII maybe they'll do this better? lol.
