I like they have adressed and changed just about everything people complained about (lack of- openness, sidequests, towns etc) and people say it is gunna suck anyways. At this point my only real worry is the length of the game might turn out to be short.

Welcome to the internet, where it's cool to hate on anything popular.
if some didnt know, you can download the atlas demo of this game on ps3 and xbox. friend just pointed that out to me. sorry if its been around for a while.
When you beat Atlas in the demo it shows a trailer, which shows the superboss Omega, which as we all know likes to make appearances throughout the FF series. Battling Omega is one of my favorite challenges in each game.
Video:
After you defeat him, he is recruited as a playable monster into your party!!!!!!!
What gets me is this DLC is only available through preorder with Amazon.com (as far as I know). I preordered with Gamestop :/
Does anyone know if we will be able to get Omega through the PSN at a later date or what?
Better be mega powerful...I'd still get it just to fight him.
idk how far back i put it but i pre-ordered from all 3 places in NA. -.- we didnt get some sweet all in one pack like japan or EU. so i had to do amazon(omega dlc) best buy (for the lolbook) and gamestop(for the weapon/costume) now granted im returning 2 of them so idc. buuuut. i did do it xD
I'm not sure how I feel about all this DLC. I don't want weapons to make the game easier, and I want to play it for the story, not how my characters look while doing it. I want there to be some challenge. The Omega thing is kinda tempting even if I'd never use it, it'd give me something to work towards.
I'll be picking this one up on the 31st and Im looking forward to it. The first half of FFXIII was a bit disapointing but I really enjoyed the second half. I'm looking forward to seeing how they have improved on this entry.
This game is going to suck just like 13, it might be slightly better, but it will still suck >_>
I actually liked 13. :/ It was an interesting change and I for once, I loved the voice overs. Don't get a lot of American voice overs that sound decent. The story was great, the graphics were awesome, sure, it was just a bit restricting as far as freedom went, but. As compared to X-2... <_<

I know how I feel about it, it's crap and this stuff should have been included in the game natively like every other FF game. The purpose of an rpg is to do explore dungeons and challenging fights that reward you with loot. Not as a reward for paying 3$ online or buying it from amazon or some crap. It pisses me off that they're making day 1 DLC and if I buy the game it's going to be used.

Why does it anger you if you don't have to use it or even get it for that matter as you said you would buy it used. Even if you buy it new you don't have to activate anything.

I am angry that they would take a boss fight you typically find in a Final Fantasy game, Omega, and pluck it out of the game to later sell it as DLC. If I am to pay 60$ for a new FF game I expect certain things out of it. It would be just as bad if they took out all the summons and split them up as DLC the things they are offering have already been made at release and should be included in the game I shouldn't have to pay for DLC that was already made at launch. I care far less about them offering weapons and stupid equipment as DLC I just want them to leave all the monsters and fights alone.
Additionally DLC as a whole has highly devolved expansions on games. We use to pay for expansion packs at retail that expanded the story now we're focusing on stupid things instead and I wish the practice as a whole would stop. I enjoyed certain DLC like the dead space 2 one where you got to hear another story and other similar DLCs where the story is expanded but as a whole I regard DLC as a cancer that promotes focus on developing stupid cash-ins instead of developing a more meaningful experience to the game.

DLC from pre-orders are also like thanks from the publisher for buying their game new. and supporting them. i see nothing wrong with them. if you dont want to support them by buying the game new then i think its fine you miss out on some stuff (most of it is just optional stuff that doesnt effect the game at all).

I don't mind these weapons for pre-order but with the amazon pre-order we're talking about them removing things in the game that I expect to be in there natively. If they want to make some blue and yellow armor for a character to say thanks to best buy that's fine.
To add to the previous post, look how long it took them to finish wotg and what they decided to do in the interm. Instead of a typical expansion we got 3 copy and paste DLC add-ons promoting some rubbish gear. By the time the 3rd one came out I could predict what we were going to have to do because of how similar the other ones were.

That is to what I take objection, maybe you never played other final fantasy games but I expect the omega fight to be part of the 60$ i paid.
I really doubt having or not having omega access is going to be a game maker or breaker. If you really have a problem with it than just don't get it, as long as people are buying dlc they will keep using it.

It's SE's fault that you have to pre-order from amazon which is why I'm not supporting it, I vote with my dollars. And FF doesn't have to have summons exploration or a story to make it FF either but if you'll pay full price for nothing I'm sure SE will be willing to deal.
After years of build-up and waiting, Final Fantasy XIII was released to so-so reviews. The game was a disappointment. But, if at first you don't succeed, try again.
Regardless of fan bickering or indifference, the game was a monster hit for Square Enix, moving over six million copies.
The game's developer, Square Enix, is working on Final Fantasy XIII-2, a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII.
The number of Final Fantasy games can be confusing for non-fans. Each of the games do not follow sequential order, so when Square Enix wants to do a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, the game does not end up being Final Fantasy XIV (which is a totally different, already released game), but Final Fantasy XIII-2.
There is a precedent for this as Square Enix released a sequel to Final Fantasy X in 2003 called Final Fantasy X-2. The sequel followed the exploits of Final Fantasy X heroine Yuna, and Final Fantasy XIII is expected to do the same.
Square Enix has only unveiled the game's logo, which showed Final Fantasy XIII heroine Lightning as well as a new, unnamed character. It is thought that this character is Lightning's rival.
Unlike Final Fantasy XIII, which caused controversy by originally only being slated for the PS3, Final Fantasy XIII-2 is penciled in for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360, right off the bat. The game won't have the wait that Final Fantasy XIII did. According to Square Enix, it will be released in 2011.
So... yeah... Wasn't a huge fan of XIII maybe they'll do this better? lol.
