I usually do sets of 8-10. I start at a weight I can only do 8 w/. If I can do 7, then I lower the weight till I can do 8. I use that weight until I can do 10 w/ it. If I can do 11 reps w/ that weight, it's too light.
So my sweet spot range is always 8-10 for pretty much any exercise I do.
