Yah, Tiger, if you get a simple fracture of the bone (i.e. the bone shard is not piercing the skin) you can still walk on it, but you might still have all sorts of potential problems--like internal bleeding or having the broken portions set on their own (improperly) and fever as your body tries to cope with recovering.
You really should have it at least looked at. I know that's a tall order on a student-budget but there are lots of places to go that could do that for you at a more reasonable price than a super-fancy hospital. Refusing medical care is a reasonable thing, especially to avoid the cost of an ambulance bringing you to the hospital when you can go on your own, but you should still have it checked out--particularly if there is extensive discoloration. That tends to indicate that it's not just blunt contusion/just a bruise.
And you don't want to potentially have a broken leg bone set on its own incorrectly and possibly #$@% up your natural range of motion and walking gait for the rest of your life. ;_;
