I'm done on the subject more or less but just as a gentle reminder to people posting:

A lot of people seem to be arguing from extremes, when the majority of the posts so far from what I CAN see have opted for the 'bit of both' idea. At least someone has scorned another for calling it purely political, when in fact they just called it 'slightly' political, and ecological as well, etc etc.

Just saying chill with the heavy words, sarcasm and insults, because it sucks :3. And read what someone posts carefully, and don't be in such a rush to counter-attack, it seems some people are being misunderstood ^^ Good thread.

It's really interesting reading this thread, the many viewpoints from people and the underlying reasons that people come up with to explain things lol

The things I think people are doing with regards to the environment is not making global warming happening, that's silly imo, I think we're just speeding it up. By how much? No-one knows, honestly there is lack of information on that might not even be by much at all.

There are a lot of thoeries floating around (well accepted ones at that) such as the greenhouse effect, but in truth scientists cannot currently say for certain what is happening in our atmosphere, they know very little about cloud formation and how a global environment interacts and develops. This is why billions is being spent on sending satterlites to venus to examine the CO2 rich atmosphere there and on satterlites to sit in our orbit to examine and try to understand our own environment.

It's gonna be a few decades yet before we actually know anything concrete with regards to human effect on global warming. Until then the arguement is we should be prepared and not take any chances, lest our grandchildren have to suffer, not everyone is being selfish and is only worried about what will affect them lol

Well they made a flying car and it just went out on the market for almost 170k and they already started the cars running on electricity too.

So this global warming thing could be imo a scare tactic to make you recycle and do things the way the government wants you to. Remember the movie Demolition Man with Wesley Snipes and Sylvester Stallone, where Taco Bell is the food that survived and they couldnt say cuss words. do you really think that in the next year like 100 volcanos, 100 tornados, 100 blizzard storms are gonna magically emerge anytime soon?

I'm lost anyways, I can't always remember what the date is today or the weather for tomorrow.

Guh, FINE--Yes, it's ALL a hoax. All the scientific research we do at countless universities in order to BETTER THE DAMNED ENVIRONMENT FOR YOU NON-BELIEVERS AND YOUR CHILDREN is pretty much useless and fraudulent! Yes, we are spending precious taxpayer money, students' tuition, and government grants JUST to do something completely unnecessary!

Look--disregarding the entire concept as a hoax is pure ignorance, and pure disrespect for the people who actually do something about it in the hopes of making some progress in helping the environment instead of HURTING it.

Politically Unnecessary, yes.

There is a difference between the two. Whatever we do now will not take effect in our lifetimes, good or bad.

But what the political implications are showing, and what "popular belief" wants you to believe, we have to do something now or we will die in the next 5 years because we are going to lose all of our ozone at that time.

I agree with you Anye, we should stimulate the science more.

But to elect our leaders with this as one of our issues? No. This should not be a political issue at all, or a very minor one if needed.

Will Global Warming reduction create jobs? In the long run, no. It will create lost jobs because if companies have to create more expensive "green" products, the money has to come somewhere, either from loss jobs or loss of the company (which also produces loss jobs, you are screwed either way). Technology is not free.

Will Global Warming reduction bring world peace? No. Not everyone is going to agree with Global Warming, and some nations will think that this is "America's imperialism demanding the control of the world's population." Think thats a good thing for our neighbors to think?

Will Global Warming reduction lower taxes? Um.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHahahahahahaha......

So basically, why would Global Warming reduction be a topic in anything politically if it wasn't to bring power to one person or group?

Um no bad Korpg lol America has been one of the nations to avoid buying into global warming for a long time, they havent been singing up to most of the agreements on global warming, if anything people in the rest of the world campainging for action view America almost as bad as China.

America is seen as one of the "bad guys" when it comes to saving the worlds environment. It's only recently that global pressure has started to force your governments hand a bit on the issue, plus the fact that the subject is a vote winner.

I know about the Kyoto Protocol, seeing as I'm like right next to it and everything.

But do you honestly think that once America signs on to it (which will happen soon btw, I believe) that this isn't what our less than friendly neighbors will say about us?

Possibly, if the USA were to take a stance on it and begin to set rules and expectations that the rest of the world should follow then people will most likely say "damn Americans thinking they're the worlds leaders" lol

Yah, the last few february We've had here... up to 70 degree weather when it should be dead of winter I dont know if global warming is attributed to that but... i remember when i was a kid never, ever, ever did we have nice weather in january/february

Could be purely coincidental, as could the mass flooding we experienced all summer long here, who knows. I think people debating it are simply debating it for something to do with themselves, since we can't really prove it right or wrong, it's rather pointless to debate...

I think calling it a completely political propaganda agenda to push green products or raise oil prices is very, very extreme or paranoid one of the two.

People wanting to care about their planet shouldn't be a politically biased motive, but since it appears to be such, i'd have to say I agree we should take better care of the earth.

Without it we are done, our children, grandchildren etc etc, you may be selfish enough to say that you don't care if they have to live underground since nothing will change in your lifetime but i'm not.

Anyway, I do think it's a stupid debate, is it really that bad or hard to personally cut down on pollutants that you use that you would rather argue it into the ground?

I dont think it is, but thats me, I do like to argue over some dumb ***too, but the way i see this one, if it really is all BS or not, at least I did some things that were good for a change, lol.
