Can you still play UMD games if you hack your PSP?
Yes, unless the game requires updating before playing it.
For example, original Dissidia plays fine on 5.00 M-33, but Dissidia 2 requires 6.37 firmware.
I believe there is a way to get around the forced updating, but I'm not entirely sure what it is.
I keep custom firmware files on the memory stick for convenience, so when you're finished playing the game that required the update, you can just revert right back to your old firmware*.
*Assuming you have the proper equipment available (Pandora battery, etc.)
I might've lost your original question somewhere in this post.

Thanks, my PSP has had about 5 games ever since the fat one. Finding a good download is harder than just spending 30bucks every 2 years PSP makes a good game.
Okay, so I'm slightly bumping this thread to ask a question.
That's me playing. (sucks I know) Anyway, someone on youtube told me to set two attacking bravery but I can't seem to find where the second comes from... So do I have to transfer the data from the original Dissidia to get access to two? Cause I'd hate it that I'd have to REDO EVERYTHING. :<
Smiting Soul
Bravery Orb
HP >or=10000
(Self) Bravery > base
Near Opp.
Attacking HP
(Opp) Breavery > base
After 30 secs
After Summon (self)
(I think those are right. I'll grab my PSP later)
As for why I got so much HP back after each attack, I'm not sure actually if I had an exp bonus going lol. I do know it was on my bonus day so that's a bonus there. I just kinda figured that the high EXP was because he was 30 levels over mine...
edit - Oh, and Difference in HP is 3k or more acc also. :x
Can someone let me know how to build a decent Iai set? Feral Chaos is annoying the crap out of me :/
Well...
Smiting Soul (Obviously)
Attacking Bravery
After 30 seconds
Near/Far Opp.
(Self) Bravery >or= base
HP difference >or= 3000
HP=100%
Attacking Bravery
Before/After Summon (self)
Level Gap >or= 30
That's if you have a character that goes from Bravery to HP attacks. Since Iai strike procs on the first hit of any combo and Bravery attacks are faster than most HP only attacks. Since Feral Chaos has so much HP, I always just set the HP difference one. It's like a constant given 1.5 multiplier. Then Near/Far from opp depending on if you're a ranged or close-combat fighter. And Before/After Summon if you plan on summoning or just getting by without it.
Off topic here a sec, i just beat FF1 PSP version. The songs from FF3 4 5 and 6 rock in music player, is there any more to unlock or just clearing once is enough? ALSO, FF2 PSP version have any cool songs after u beat game?
Level Gap 90
Level 1-9
Hatless
Armorless
Gloveless
Weaponless
Near Loss
Safety Bit
Smithing Soul
Side by Side
+EXP->HP from abilities gives you:
You break your foes brave with every attack
You gain 1 assist bar charge with every HP attack landed
You will always survive a HP attack if you have more than 1 HP
Every HP attack you land will heal you (so you no longer have 1 hp)
You can also use your Assist to block any attack that would kill you if you do have 1 HP.
PSN back up so i did the online thing, F them damn Kuja spammers, ppl who spam the same 2 moves and Kuja assist. Like Vaan just spams Windburst and the rapid fire move so annoying. But there are ppl who arent total tools and actually pvp for fun. ANYWAY, managed to improve a lil. Win % went up 25% » 36%. (i still suck i know) Any XI players up for it tomorrow?
I would so play online but I need to configure my PSN bla bla, I'm still really confused as to how to do it. My router isn't even on the same floor as my PS3 so I'm going to do it via a laptop.
You can beat Feral Chaos without an Iai Strike build, just gota time those dodges and use his summons against him. I was really lucky to beat him with Yuna he froze my bravery at 9999 and then I had some boosters for wall dmg and he went down fast.

Problems with Kuja? Your Vaan's spamming crossbow attacks? Fire a Watera spell! Ohhohoho...
New Mechanics
The mechanics of the battle system include "EX Mode" and "Assist." EX Mode functions exactly the same as the first game by collecting EX Cores around the battle map to fill up the gauge and transform the character into a more powerful state, which allows players to perform a powerful EX Burst attack should an HP attack land during EX Mode. The Assist system is a new element to the game which allows the player to summon an additional ally into battle to either assist in attacking the enemy or defend from an oncoming attack. It is performed using the Assist Gauge, which is built up by using Bravery Attacks.
Both modes are supposed to balance each other, because when an EX Burst is executed, the opponent's Assist Gauge is reduced to zero.
The three main countering systems are Assist Breaks, EX Breaks and EX Revenge. An EX Break is performed by stopping an opponent's EX Mode through the use of an Assist attack which forces the opponent out of EX Mode, additionally passing the opponent's Bravery points to the player. An Assist Break is performed by attacking the opponent's Assist character, causing him/her to be unable to call out the Assist character for a brief period; this also passes the opponent's Bravery points to the character. Lastly, EX Revenge occurs when trying to activate EX Mode while being attacked. While in the first game it would simply halt the opponent's attack, it now slows down time allowing the player to pummel the opponent instead, though it sacrifices the player's ability to use an EX Burst as it uses up the entire EX Gauge.
The biggest change is within the single-player story mode of the game, taking place on a traditional-styled Final Fantasy world map, with players being able to experience a story while exploring a world with scenarios and events taking place as the story progresses. Players will traverse the 3D world map with three-character parties, with players being able to interact in conversations with the characters. When roaming the map, players will encounter enemies known as "Manikins"; when attacked by an enemy, players will be transported to a battle map where battles will take place. There will be shops on the map which are specially marked. The story mode is also party based, similar to the story progression of Final Fantasy VI. In certain scenarios, parties will be predetermined, but in most cases players are free to select their own party. Alongside the game's new story mode, the game will also include the first game's story which will be remade with the 3D world map as well as additional elements added for the new storyline. Tetsuya Nomura, producer and character designer for the game, has said that both storylines played together would result in approximately 60 hours of gameplay
