I have a few left, working on Cloud now. When Kain was announced as a character I didn't care much but after using Gungnir and sending an opponent flying from one side of the arena to the next...well, let's just say I like Kain :D
My issue with Kain - a lot of his HP attacks don't actually deal HP damage until they hit a wall/ceiling/ground. On stages that have no floor or walls can be troublesome since they just teleport back to the stage, only dealing the BRV damage that was in the HP attack. He's fun as hell, but has some issues.
Yeah that part sucks but on the bright side, the movesets he has for 5 and 30 battle give him Dragon Fang which is a pretty safe alternative to Jump/Sky Rave/Gungnir
Yeah. On tougher CPUs I'm forced to distract with an Assist in order to land it, though. Same issue with Squall in the first game. I hope he gets at least ONE thing that links from BRV -> HP attack, or Maximum CPUs will be a pain in the *** to beat.
I know ._. I was really hoping to use him in Prologus but we go Cloud instead lol...should have seen that coming, I suppose. The most I saw from Squall in Youtube vids was him shooting off fire magic...everything else was the same :/
On 23 with Kefka. Garland is mad slow =/ (last person I need to clear it with) He's one of the very few characters I actually dislike to use. Him, the Emperor (on easy CPUs since it's hard to trap what just runs away), and Ultimecia . Everyone else I'm good with, so the 30 Man thing is pretty damn easy. Just wish I could change the damn movesets - my first Dissidia Kefka is scary.
Terra having no good air attack? All you have to do is spam Blizzara and Meltdown with Terra to win xD She was *** on the ground but now that Fire links into Firaga, she's scary on the gound too.
I love Bartz, just was tough to kill early on because his HP attacks sucked. Now he's pretty boss.
Terra was OP in the first one, and they did nothing but make her even better in this one xD
Bartz seems like he'd be fun to play as but maaaaaaaan, I just hate his costumes so bad lol...that zebra top thing and the other one. I shouldn't mind too much in 012 though, he has the option of the tunic. When I played as Terra all I ever did was spam uh..Tornado? lol
Cloud has received a very big boost in this game; a lot faster and the support from Tifa lets me go Omnislash Ver. 5, assist, chase to Omnislash Ver. 5 again and repeat once again if another assist is up...it's just unfair lol
Edit: not to mention his omgwtfbbq Cross-Slash that chases opponents half way across the screen and Sonic Break which now has a slight draw in effect. It's just crazy how much they revamped him...he was already so damn strong in DFF with his numerous combo links like Sonic Break > Climhazzard > Slashing Blow > OSV5
Not a big fan of Prishe as a character. I guess they added her for the sake of skillchain dynamic? But if that's the case why not just add Tenzen? Or even a generic Immortal in full blu af...that'd be much better than her annoying *** >->

Maybe because she herself is Immortal! (Well, up til the last cutscene of CoP... But in Abyssea she's still immortal so it works!) Sides I love Prishe's character! Can't wait for tuseday. Since I beat the demo, I have nothing else to do but sit around watching youtube videos :<
I have to say I'm really impressed with how all the fighters in the demo seem to work perfectly (except Jecht, but I never played as him in the first except to get him to 100 >.> I never bothered with the whole combo learning ***for him and it suuuuuuuuuuucks now ; ;) And I like that Tifa's feints can go off during HP attack moves too... Wonder if you can proc the feints yourself or they just are random...
I love Jecht. I was really good with him in the first one, and Jecht Beam is a lovely addition. I need to work on his ground combos more, especially since we have Ground Dash which I'm in love with, but in the air I'm good.
New Mechanics
The mechanics of the battle system include "EX Mode" and "Assist." EX Mode functions exactly the same as the first game by collecting EX Cores around the battle map to fill up the gauge and transform the character into a more powerful state, which allows players to perform a powerful EX Burst attack should an HP attack land during EX Mode. The Assist system is a new element to the game which allows the player to summon an additional ally into battle to either assist in attacking the enemy or defend from an oncoming attack. It is performed using the Assist Gauge, which is built up by using Bravery Attacks.
Both modes are supposed to balance each other, because when an EX Burst is executed, the opponent's Assist Gauge is reduced to zero.
The three main countering systems are Assist Breaks, EX Breaks and EX Revenge. An EX Break is performed by stopping an opponent's EX Mode through the use of an Assist attack which forces the opponent out of EX Mode, additionally passing the opponent's Bravery points to the player. An Assist Break is performed by attacking the opponent's Assist character, causing him/her to be unable to call out the Assist character for a brief period; this also passes the opponent's Bravery points to the character. Lastly, EX Revenge occurs when trying to activate EX Mode while being attacked. While in the first game it would simply halt the opponent's attack, it now slows down time allowing the player to pummel the opponent instead, though it sacrifices the player's ability to use an EX Burst as it uses up the entire EX Gauge.
The biggest change is within the single-player story mode of the game, taking place on a traditional-styled Final Fantasy world map, with players being able to experience a story while exploring a world with scenarios and events taking place as the story progresses. Players will traverse the 3D world map with three-character parties, with players being able to interact in conversations with the characters. When roaming the map, players will encounter enemies known as "Manikins"; when attacked by an enemy, players will be transported to a battle map where battles will take place. There will be shops on the map which are specially marked. The story mode is also party based, similar to the story progression of Final Fantasy VI. In certain scenarios, parties will be predetermined, but in most cases players are free to select their own party. Alongside the game's new story mode, the game will also include the first game's story which will be remade with the 3D world map as well as additional elements added for the new storyline. Tetsuya Nomura, producer and character designer for the game, has said that both storylines played together would result in approximately 60 hours of gameplay
