All run on low because my monitor doesn't go to 1080p so I don't see the point.

WinXP 32bit
Intel E8400 @3.00ghz
4gb DDR2 Ram (2x2gb)
Nvidia Geforce 8800GTS 320mb model

I could probably get more performance by restarting too as it has been 3 and a half weeks since I last bothered to reboot.

320Mb? the game requires 512MB Graphics RAM min.
Argue it with the benchmark? It ran just fine for me and didn't give any trouble over launching.

I lol'd.

Anyway, Do you have shared system memory for your video card?

Example from my performance information and tools:

Display adapter type : AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200
Total available graphics memory: 1982MB
Dedicated graphics memory: 320MB
Shared system memory 1662MB

Could explain why it still earned a decent score despite not 'technically' reaching the 'minimum' standard.

(I'm on windows 7 64-bit)

That would explain it. Their minimum requirements don't factor in anything other than the hardware itself.

Edit: Man, FFXIV looks sexy. Wonder what my score will be on this run through of the benchmark.

Edit2: 485 or something like that. Time for a restart and closing of everything else running, lol.

I still can't get the benchmark program to run on my PC despite having tried all the suggestion so far on this thread.

I'm beginning to think the program itself is glitched/flawed as some of you have really decent spec PCs but the prog is saying you will barely be able to run FFXIV.

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
4094MB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4870

I got 564 on high and 940ish on low :/ I thought I'd get higher than that. Is it really that bad because other games I've played I've run just fine on high settings but this was terrible.

My previous edit saying I got 485 was wrong. Must've been 315. I clicked back in so I could take a SS, but didn't know that it made it exit/restart the benchmark.

After a restart with nothing really running I got:

Dual monitors. Only one video card in my laptop.

I'm a bit annoyed because I barely hit 75% cpu usage at the peak. I averaged 55-60% usage through the benchmark. RAM was the same.

I'm not too concerned though. I think I technically fail the FFXI benchmark as well, though this laptop plays it better than my desktop with better specs.

Edit: Guess it was my other laptop that did horribly on the FFXI benchmark. I just ran it and got 5810. Think it used the same scale or whatever as the FFXIV one.

Oh well.

i say BS on this thing, just bought this laptop recently, which is very powerful with a strong ATI graphics card (yea i know its not nividia XD) and ive ran the beta np at all... got a 1190 >.>

I know the benchmark has the NVIDIA logo on it.

this just means they greased more palms than ATI did to get their logo placed on it.

I have nothing against console MMOs. I started out on PS2 for FFXI. I like playing on PC though so I don't take up the tv the whole time.

However, I don't own a PS3 yet so I'll probably try it on PC first despite the benchmark results.

I've been wanting (needing) to buy a new PC for some time now, this is the final push I needed to make me start saving up to make it happen.
I could buy a PS3 as i'm not someone who is against console gaming in any way, but I need a computer for other stuff as well so i'm just going to get one.

need to sleep now.

Wow that is one bigass case, I see it's a Corsair, didn't even know they made cases. I know they entered the PSU market not too long ago, how's that 850W? I love that cable management too, wow.

My 700W modular Thermaltake PSU recently died after 3 years. Got an OCZ modular 700W to replace it cause it was on sale with a free 4GB USB stick. Considered a Corsair though. But at least the Thermaltake didnt take out any other components when it died.

When I first started building my own PCs I used cheap PSUs, I'll never make that mistake again after one took out my motherboard and cpu when it died.

That is a smexy case. Found it on newegg:

300th time saying this.

Update DirectX.

Don't just go find the file online, actually go to Microsft.com and search for Directx, and get the latest DX9 update.

Assuming you don't have a pirated windows.

That file is from the latest directX update... on the very same page it provides a link to the page where to download the latest directX... I had to do that first before it would start. The benchmark program DID start after doing it for me.

i got similar specs and also a pretty bad score XD I7 1.6~2.8GHz 4GB ram, ATI 4870. honestly i think you could run the game fine regardless of what this thing says, (idk if SE doesnt want me saying this but oh well) your specs are FAR over the minimum requirements for the game

Bad thing about computers... even if it was built yesterday, that's no guarantee that it's not an underpowered lump of crud.

If you list a make/model number, or if you have them, detailed specs of your pc/laptop, we might be able to better pinpoint your issues and see if there is a possible solution.

That goes for everyone. If you're having issues running the benchmark, or getting lower scores than you think you should be getting, post your pc specs. Age is no indication of a computers game playing prowess.

**Pertinent Specs include (but not limited to)

*CPU type and speed
*make and model number of your Videocard
*amount of RAM available to your pc.
*OS and whether or not it is 32/64 bit.
