Grrr. I tried to download the thing twice and it errors when I try to run it. Says that d3dx9_41.dll isn't there and that I need to try to re-download it. Maybe I'll try again later.
Download the latest DirectX and install it: http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-DirectX-Redistributable-February-2010/3000-18541_4-10176490.html
I'm having the same problem as a few others with the missing file. Not all of us are as computer savvy as many of you ^^ Please can someone explain how to install the benchmark program and the directx redistributable on a Vista PC. I have no idea where I am supposed to install the directx thingy. lol
There's an actual DX .exe when you extract that directx download to a folder. Use that and it should install it auto. The benchmark doesn't need to be installed in any specific place. Just extract it to wherever.

The directx .exe asks me to "please type the location where you want to place the extracted files".

Make a folder on the desktop, then just extract them to that folder. Once that's done, goto that folder and find the DXSETUP .exe installer.

Thank you ^^

My own index. RAM is not an issue as I am currently running 4 but can upgrade to 8 if necessary.

The benchmark program now opens and then immediately crashes ; ;

I guess i'm not going to be able to run it on this machine. Time to start saving for a new PC... This one is past it's best anyway.

Run at low resolution, because it doesn't fit to full-screen and on the higher resolution I couldn't even seen the score.
Started out as a 3800, but I reset PC b/c it's been up for over a week. I don't have a registered version of Windows 7 yet I expect a better result when I can actually get updates.
My PC scores a 5.8 on windows aero due to SATAII hard drive.
After seeing this, I'm attributing my score to my processor speed. Q_Q
The first PC I built ran over $1100 and I found out soon that I had built something outdated, and had gotten ripped off. The motherboard that I had gotten was a CROSSHAIR, which was over $200 and outdated at the time due to PCI-E restrictions. PCI-E 2.0 had been out for several months before my build. My RAM was DDR2 and cost over $200, it's not bad ram but it was too outdated due to DDR3. That ram is still worth quite a bit on newegg. In that old rig I was running a 7900GT that burned out on me so I upgraded to the 260 GTX which is worth more today than I paid for it.

Recently I built a PC for my father for his birthday using some of my old parts, so I got upgrades and he got more PC than he will ever need. From my past knowledge of buying out of date hardware I did not overspend in any area, and bought all high end stuff this time at an extremely reasonable price.
MB MSI 770-C45 AMD770 RT
$79.99
CPU AMD|PH II X4 955 3.2G AM3 R
$165.99
MEM 2Gx2|OCZ OCZ3RPR16004GK R
$130.99
The only places you can really afford to skimp are the MoBo, and the PSU. You can get really good motherboards at really affordable prices if you only get what you absolutely need. I have a 600W processor which is more than enough for default specifications, I don't have anything overclocked. This motherboard has great specs, but no SLI/Crossfire support but I only have the 1 card so I didnt need it. Don't need 32 gigs of ram, or an $800 processor.
upgraded from 3.2Ghz dual core, 7900 GT, PCI-E 1.0, 800Mhz ram to what I have now for $562 including my video card I bought over a year ago for $185. I do feel a little ripped off on the card, because Though I bought it after DX11 came out, and they likely knew that DX11 was in development while making the card it does not support it.

Keep in mind this is in a laptop. About the only thing I can manage to fiddle with for now is the RAM. :\ Everything else is up to date at least. Further down the road I plan to build my own. No means to do so as of now.

You don't necessarily want size, but you want higher frequency and lower timings. I have 4 gigs, but this windows 7 is only using 3.25 and I got a 7.6. Mine is DDR3 1600 Mhz which is overclocked on this board with 7-7-7-24 timings @1.7 volts.
I'd get some faster ram then you should be ok.

I'd compare it to crysis benchmark on very high settings with full filtering and antialiasing. You'd need a supercomputer to get 8k+. Talking $1k+ invested.

Low Setting 2666 load time=14695 with fps=45-65
High setting 1560 load time=14097 with fps25-35 was laggy during the battle.

windows xp home 5.1 build 2600 SP3
intel core 2 6600 @ 2.40 ghz (2 cpu)

With Steam, Skype and Xfire running, but it's not exactly taking much processing power.

I wasn't getting any lag that I could detect.

I need to OC my CPU and I need to de-dust my PC I think.

I'll probably switch to an i7 before the actual release, so I'm not that worried.

Nvidia 8800 GT is not an extremely old card, if you bought it right when it came out it was ~$350, You're on windows XP limited to DX 9.0C so you wouldn't have the enhanced texture resolutions, and the core 2 isn't too old either. Decent score, but try it on a DX10 OS and see what you get.

It seems the scores for the higher ended GPU's are being bottle necked by the CPU's.

I'm not surprised it's a CPU heavy game.

The above at low setting, no noticable lag.

At high setting, score was 2597.

My laptop fails....it returned a pitiful score of 256 on low...

No I didn't miss a digit, it scored two hundred and fifty six. How it even fires up every evening I just don't know but I'm going to give it another go tonight and double check to see if it returns the same score, if so then it's time to build a new PC to handle the game...

Here is mine... can play the game on default settings, and its just a little bit below the next tier up.. kind of sad it didn't make it there xD

This was run at the smaller resolution setting... since there are only 2 settings you can choose... the larger one is too big on my screen I only saw 1/4 of what was going on lol

Is my pc's technical specs on the screenshot crap? would it be the hardware or just my videocard?
Quoting someone else to compare Phenom to Phenom II performance and nVidia 8800 GTS and nVidia 9800 which share the g92 core iirc.

-This screen shot is with my CPU overclocked on all cores to 4.1GHz. Running at the default 3.2GHz it was 96 points lower.

-My score at 1280x720. I wanted to mention that this ran much better than the alpha. I'm assuming it's because this isn't forcing 2x or 4x FSAA like the alpha does, and maybe cleaned up beta code.

-RAM: Fastest speed 8GB DDR3, 4x2GB DIMMs.

EDIT: 2013 score on 1920x1080. Still looked great though, FPS was solid the whole way through.

Why are people even with better scores than me taking longer to load the game? There is nothing special about my hard disk drives.
