Some more articles published today think they've determined that the Evo battery life problems are tied specifically to data transfer over 4G. That's why it's differing from user to user.

Evidently it's enormously battery draining, even in standby. Scragg's spotty 4G coverage problem may be what's saving his battery life. When not doing 4G data transfer, it's apparently fine.

(This isn't Evo or even Android's fault. The 4G frequency spec simply takes an absurd amount of power.)

Not to derail but why not compare the HD2? Or is it not carried by Sprint?

Wow how perfect. I just got home from the sprint store since i broke yet another Rumor. They told me it is now just a paper weight so i was looking at new phones. I was looking at both these 2 and i have to say the EVO in general is just cooler. It is faster seems easier to use, has a better camera, bigger texting buttons. Yeah those are whats important to me lol. But it can play videos online with great clarity and has a kick stand ^^

When i was in the store he told me the HTC was 249 with 100 mail in and the EVO was 299 with 100 Mail in. I guess you are going to get yours online since i see the price differs.

If my dad will agree to the extra 10 a month im for sure getting the EVO over the HTC since its just a more awesome phone.

I keep my 4G turned off 99% of the time, and I don't use bluetooth either. I suppose if you have 4g,wifi,gps,bluetooth,live wallpapers all turned on with 10+ widgets, and no app killer you will get a dead battery.

Sprint? Get Verizon so we can phone sex for free, Krizz.
Or just get unlimited everything for 60 a month

Although the Evo is big, it's really thin.
which means very easy for me to break it. Ive broke/lost 5 phones in 5 years.

difference between the EVO and HD2 from tmobile is that HD2 is a international phone and the EVO isnt. and the evo has the front camera that the HD2 does not. the evo has a slightly better battery life in comparison. i have this chart thing at work that compares iphone, hd2 and some other phone to the EVO and evo wins.

ive had the evo since saturday and the battery last better than my iphone lol i guess cuz it was old but even if i barely touched it would be dead by the time i went to bed lol evo barely looses charge and i use the internet on my break at work :O

evo rulez

HTC HD2, it's the phone I have. supposedly biggest screen on a phone. Runs windows mobile 6.5 I think. I love it.

Just a month ago, I had to switch to Sprint cuz I had Helio/Virgin Mobile and they were discontinuing their annual contract plans, so it was switch for free, pay a deposit elsewhere or no service. The Evo wasn't out yet, so I was looking at the Hero when I saw the Touch Pro 2. I got the Touch Pro 2 for $149 after rebates, and it is by far the best phone I've ever had. The keys on the slide out keyboard are perfect and battery life is amazing unless you're using the GPS navi system or WiFi constantly. The only downside I found is the Sprint version doesn't have the video calling but I had no intention of using that anyways. Anyhow, just something to keep in mind as another option. Also, it has the Opera browser included in case you're burnt out on the IE as someone mentioned.

Set widgets on a screen (u get 7) that allow you to quickly switch off wifi, blutooth, 3G, 4G, whatever depending on where you are at, using a widget it takes two seconds to swap back and forth between radios you need, saves a lot of battery life

so....

Sorry to go slightly off topic or derail but if anyone has input on the Google Nexus One before I purchase a T-Mobile My Touch 3G Slide, I would greatly appreciate it.
