Mildly bad luck for 1 year, mild to me implies some minor inconveniences but really bad luck could result in bodily harm or death so idk if i would survive the week!

Re: forced crits, and largely monsters in general. A big thing that I do nowadays in ffxi is parse monsters to fill in the gaps in knowledge that eiyuu wiki and studio gobli left (like how subjobs for monsters work below level 50, that sort of thing) and to be honest I'm not actually sure whether monster tp moves truly scale with tp.

The melee ones might, but in surveying most monster families that exist stuff like magic tp moves (and definitely breath spells, obviously) don't seem to have any discernible tp mod. I tend to think that it is in fact double attack like byrth said, instead of crits.

Re: monstrosity: there's definitely a lot of moves in monstrosity that just don't translate, funguar being the main example that comes to mind. Their breath moves just are a completely different formula for monsters.

Monipulators also often have weird job combinations so you can get some false positives. Diremites there are DRK/BLM for example, whereas your typical diremite is a DRK/DRK.

There's a lot of quirky stuff like that out there.

It's quite simple to unlock fiat lux solo, just requires effort

Spend all saturday crushing beau xarc bails and the keep. Just back and forth all day killing generals and smashing pillars.

I thought Sickle Slash was DAs (Spiders are mostly WARs) and not crits.

Spiders with sickle slash comes to mind.
Less accessible: Ngai because that *** randomly one shots me on PLD somehow.

So I've commented on this in a few other niche threads, but RDM is tied with SCH imo for the best solo job. RDM and SCH are like miles ahead of pretty much every job in the game for soloing. Content like VD Ambuscades are doable on most jobs, same with Omen bosses (all 6). But RDM and SCH in particular are capable of soloing literally almost an entire Aeonic by themselves with trusts (RDM can do Zerde, Teles, Onychop, potentially Schah (my best attempt was 12 adds dead but then I died on RDM, maybe someone else could do better) and SCH can do the rest, Schah included. The only mob that I don't think RDM or SCH could solo with trusts is Erinys which I prefer doing on RUN, but PLD is easier for that fight.

RDM can solo some V5-10 Odyssey bosses (mostly T1/T2s, some v1 T3s are doable), I wouldn't be surprised if it could do some V15 T1s, I don't know if T2s would be doable, never tried or seen/heard anyone try. But you get the idea, It's a really damn good solo job.

RDM can very likely solo 17k+ (A+ E and some minis) Galli in Sortie (if /RUN auto attacks count for C/G light damage, which I don't know if they do, then I could see RDM soloing 4 bosses for 26k+ galli easily just like SCH.)

So it's been some time since I tested this, but it was in an AOE party in Dho Gates. I was locking Opashoro so that I could throw out Cataclysms as well, and when AM3 was up I want to say my Thundersparks were doing a bit under 12k, while with weapon unlocked (meaning Grioavolr) I think it was doing over 13k.

Again it's been a while so my memory is pretty fuzzy on it, but I do recall Grio being farther ahead than I thought it would be. Especially since at the time there were rumors flying around about Opashoro AM3 being like 80 MAB and I was hoping for big numbers.

It's still about 10% worse than Nirvana even without AM3, but I don't want to make it sound nonviable. Gridarvor is absolutely endgame-viable. The question was just more about what's BIS in each situation so that's why I only talked about Nirvana & Opa.

Im unaware of any tem sightings on any server. According to SE at least, it was never "broken" per se but the specific spawning criteria wasnt being met. So they "made it easier" but its still not being met. I dont think anyone is running around checking every mob they kill. You'd first need to know u had the ITG then you'd need to start checking off a list of what you could do to it. how you could kill it to satisfy this unknown condition. Seems unlikely unless instead of being an identical mob that is ITG they made it look different or named it different.

Anyway Asura apolly ??? is no longer at NW5. We went thru a climb and it didn't reappear yet but it should pretty soon.

What are the current solo capabilities for RDM for stuff like Omen, Sortie (which bosses), and other high end content. I'm looking to make a RDM just for the fun of solo'ing mobs. Is it the best choice?

Could just start your pull in seigan/TE, gear wise it wouldnt change much in the armor department, would be all accessories which is basically all null in their respective slots except neck which can stay to warders or you can opt to swap to bathy +1 if you want to keep pumping evasion

That is a possibility I had not considered
Press the pdt gearswap key, get stoneskin from my brd lol and a cure4, walk into the mobs, cast sleep
If I make a neighboring hotkey or double press for evasion it might not be too much to juggle in the moment.

The ??? Should just have a fixed spot on each floor next to the exit when the IG dies. This problem of the ??? not spawning likely goes away.

How often do you parse a monster having a >5% crit rate on you?

My experience has been that basically everything is floored on me with enemy crit hit rate merits.

Not sure how your process of pulling looks like, but assuming you are not getting heals until you stop, you could simply switch to evasion gear which I mentioned, when you lose HP granted by HP gear in those slots.

Moogle belt and moonlight cape add quite a bit of hp

If we use Perg's rough conversion, Opashoro Stage 5 has roughly ~125 mab (in BPD), and then the Mab from the Aftermath (how much is that, 30?), then there's the avatar stats from the Level+3.

Now I'm not claiming you need a perfecct Grioavolr to trump Opashoro, but the gap between the two should be pretty small when AM is up.
Now you could argue you won't always have it up but that's another story I guess xD


@Perg you forgot to mention Augmented Gridarvor.
For Physical multi hit BPs with replicating FTP, it should be on par (if not above?) with Nirvana when AM3 is down.
I seem to remember when some years ago it was mathed out, people were surprised to see Gridarvor so high, considering it's a "normal" and very cheap weapon.

I'm moving out the the practical now, and just kinda enjoying digging at this now, lol. but...

SAM can wear Forfend+1, for +142 def. And and Mafic Cudgel for +15 VIT(22.5 DEF) +162.5 DEF total. XD

Or, Hachimonji has +20 VIT, and Refined grip+1 can get a +20 DEF aug.

Again, I'm not seriously recommending these, just following the search for DEF/VIT to extremes.

I loved Blitzball too. It clearly took inspiration from Tecmo's line of Captain Tsubasa soccer RPG games, which I really like (and Klab based their phone game on)
