Floating Grandstands...

Superb technological advancements...

Insane nationality...

Billionaires wasting money...

...and all under the guise of one of humanity's oldest transportation methods :)

SailGP comes back to NYC this weekend- its a great venue for someone who just enjoys the concept of racing to get a taste of it on the water without engines <3 I promise if you are an F1 junkie, you'll at least be curious by this crap that some of us live^^

AI is rotting your brain and making you stupid

I am positive that in ancient Greece of 600 BCE people railed against this new writing technology thing saying that it would erode out memories and make us stupid.

After being reccomended the n-th video bashing on Oshi no Ko, Ive decided to break my own rules of only reading completed stories and take a look on this manga.

I finished the manga, I don't think it's that bad. People just have unrealistic expectations that's all.

The story has some Deus ex Machina that only exist to push the plot forward, which makes the flow unnatural, that's my only complain really.

I know people think "you're only in the set for a second", but you can be caught in your set in that second and die.

It's a lesson that shoulda been learned back when we used argosy/lustratio(and for those few who fulltimed argosy and just died to everything but muh deeps), it might be a second but if that second is when an aoe goes off that can the second that determines the rest of the encounter.

Should have moderate/capped DT in all of your sets, TP/JA/casting whatever

Thank you for trying out something odd, it helps me get a sense for what it can do on random jobs.

That said what Simon posted is also extremely valuable. I don't think he's attacking you at all. He's just being realistic on the value which is also helpful.

I'm still debating between staff or this sword for SMN. Both are horrible options but this at least gives me some realistic numbers to work with

Because Im genuinely curious if the story is really that bad or if it is just those zoomers being noisy.

And honestly, after three chapters, Im still not sure what this story is about. Feels like we are still being presented to the overall context.

not saying it is good or bad, but this story really started off differently of the rest.

15 chapters read. Personally I dislike stories about show business, idols and dafuq.

The story also had some supernatural themes that I feel like unnecessary and that loosen a bit the seriousness of the story.

Still, so far, pretty interesting story. The author made a wonderful work in world building, spending 10 chapters to tell the context, what I think pretty courageous, as nowadays kids can only wait half a page to get hooked.

The cast is pretty likeable too. I can see each one of the main cast with one or two qualities that makes me feel interested.

Im still looking forward to see where is the controversy of this. Im really enjoying looking forward to know if I will be betrayed and join the haters side, or if I will stand in defending the story.

Like seriously, what is your point in this?

The point is not "your idea is bad", the point is "you don't need Onion Sword III to enact your idea". It's exactly the kind of feedback you asked for.

For your question, what determines if you can get the quest is if you have Rainbow Resonator KI.

Check for that and do the summon mini quests if you don't have it.

Now it would be, I believe, CDC>KotR>Req>SB>repeat

That would not work, unfortunately, because CDC > KotR becomes Light and ends the skillchain.

A 5-step Savage > CDC > KotR > Savage > CDC does work, and the damage is also quite decent.

Asura.Eiryl said: »
Even a locus shouldn't have enough hp to hit the required skillchains to make it count

You can SB CDC KotR SB KotR dropping the lolrequiscat and maybe come out ahead

I agree that Locus hardly has enough HP to make the 7+ step matter XD

It has been during some (mini)boss fights that I've found the extended skillchain useful. For example, a few days ago I made a stupid mistake in Sortie Sector E, leaving Esurient Botulus behind the locked door, so I had no choice bu to fight through the 6 Naakuals. For most of them, a 9-step Savage > CDC > KotR > Requiescat > Savage > CDC > KotR > Savage > KotR does a quick work. Ultimately I still managed to kill Dhartok in time (Crocea + Diamond Aspise is another combination that works pretty well).

When I had just graduated college I moved to Southern California...shacked up with my wealthy brother and surfed and basically wasted time...

While walking out of the grocery store near Laguna a girl driving used the hardcore /check feature on me....and then proceeded to broadside a parked car....it was amazing.

Is this story related to the OP? Probably not and I don't care...I'll continue telling this story as often as I see the chance...

..anyway...continue...

Ok I normally support people being excited and I support Onion Sword III too, but I think you went slightly too far with this :D

If you use every buff/debuff in the game on 119 mob or even apex mob, then it's obvious you can do 99k FBII spikes even on SCH/NIN, but this is "just for fun" thing. With the same level of buffs/debuffs Savage and Black Halo will be doing 99k every time, not just spikes.

If I throw enough buffs I can push CDC on BLU to do 67k avg with spikes to 99k too and I can even do something silly like this:

:D

In a world where ws wall exists
Asura.Ayahuasca said: »
Not saying you'll suddenly be able to use onionMNK, GEO, WHM or SCH in v25 fights or Sortie basement

Where do you have WS wall and it's not Sortie or V25? DynamisD bosses? There is literally no practical use case where you throw so many buffs/debuffs to let WHM/nin catch up DD jobs on trash mobs. It's really only for fun if you 6 box or have 5 friends willing to make you happy on DD WHM.

I can see MNK possibly using Onion if you can only do slashing damage, but in an event like maybe Limbus, where lets say you will have one floor of mobs that you can't damage with blunt and you have no other choice, but it will be far from 50k avg and 99k spikes, because it would be probably buff/debuff scenario similar to Segments.

I went too far with this? I think instead u went too far with being overly critique of something which u don't even know enough about, while cherrypicking things which got nothing to do with what i'm talkin about.. like shooting ws at 2k tp.

To me it seems like on this forum, some ppl just feel the need to reply to posts they don't even care about because they're chronically addicted to being that kind of guys..

Like seriously, what is your point in this? You're not adding anything useful, nor interesting to the discussion, just negative anti-hype bs. Is it because it's not "meta"? Lemme tell u one thing that it seems many of u often forget, WE PLAY THIS GAME FOR FUN.
Meta comps and meta builds are NOT the game itself, there's much more than that. In other rpg n mmos people play the games by adding artificial challenges, like trying to kill hard things with suboptimal comps, builds and such, while FFXI which is an infinitely deeper game than most games, ends up having a community made of metasheeps following the same boring and ungabunga meta over n over. That wouldn't be a problem by itself, if only you didn't start acting as if anything which is not meta is automatically useless or pointless. When in reality many jobs who didn't have access to good slashing dmg, now got something, and tbh i plan on doing party challenges with off meta team compositions and this kind of theorycrafting is exactly what's needed to make a party of dd whms n other off meta builds work together.

If you don't wanna add constructive criticism to this post, i'd ask you to look somewhere else. This kind of attitude is also part of the problem why ffxi community can't have nice things while remaining stuck with a playerbase full of parrots and meta sheeps parroting what other ppl told em.

We got a freaking new toy to allow for some interesting new things to be done on other jobs, and all you can add to this discussion is what y'all said?? Fine. You're free to keep playing the game as you do with a closed mind, i'll just try something different. I wanna see what off meta jobs can achieve in these kind of situations, and i'm sure i'm not the only one thinking that ffxi can still evolve and give much more to its players. We just need to think outside of the box sometimes, rather than singing along the metasheep chorus.

Ffs, smh.

I agree, and at the downside of using a subpar shield.

Diamond aspis seems really good for enabling a well geared paladin to solo the 6step SC requirement and stuff tho, I dunno if other content cares about that.

Could be theoretically easier to lowman vagary now tho...?

Evasion is capped at 80% rate.
By Goltana101 on 2025-06-02 12:30:18
I didn't want to discourage you. What I meant to say was, even in a full evasion turtle set, you will take some hits because enemies have a hit rate and it's impossible to evade every attack, even if it s level 1 monster. This bring down the value of a "full evasion" set a bit. That's why I said you can start to branch out to other stats once you get to very minor differences in evasion, because of diminishing returns.

As far as an engaged set, you can wear the same stuff. Malignance STP/acc/racc, null accessories acc/racc/dt etc allows you to TP while evading, so the sets are pretty much one in the same.
By Saga212 on 2025-06-02 12:25:16
Please do share when you'r done! I'm definitly interested in your results.
By Jinxs on 2025-06-02 12:17:21
I will need to consider more stats outside especially when it wont always work 100%

Thought process is first a full evasion turtle equivalent for group pulls long enough for lullaby or uh multiple lullaby.

And one thats acceptable as not quite a hybrid but would be acceptable to fight in efficiently rather than an actual hybrid set. I would hope we can avoid the occasional spell or aoe using this approach with ninja
