Took car in for service on Thursday because there was a recall on the passenger airbag and I needed an oil change/tire rotation.
Thought everything was fine... Then was driving yesterday and it sounded like a damn motorcycle at odd intervals both when accelerating and decelerating. So dropped it back off at the dealership last night.
Turns out they didn't torque my front driverside tire enough during the rotation. -.- it's extremely easy for someone to over-torque and damage your lug nuts or studs with the standard pneumatics that most garages use, so I don't blame garages for under doing it. Plus that's why the regulation is to always re-torque any tire within ~50 kms after it's been off a car, by hand.
Most garages will provide this for free if you come back the next day, but if you want peace of mind you can easily and relatively cheaply buy a torque wrench, calibrate it based on your tires, and do all your re-torques yourself. never have to worry or waste time going back to a garage again. |
