no worries, it's a simple timeline (Dates probably wrong, my memory sucks)

2002- ffxi hits north America
2005- Windower is born
2006 - FFXIAH is born
2009 - Guildworks allows you to link characters, as a windower plugin that works with ffxiah
2014 - Discord is born and guildworks starts to slowly die over 5 years



I tried ffxiv in 2010 with legacy but gave up shortly and went back in 2018 to beat the whole games storyline missions, it's decent but a lot of busywork for the plot.

I quit like you did shortly after that point but wife still loves it religiously. we getting married in game in fact this week, on our 5 year real life wedding anniversary date.

After my stints on here, I pretty much quit the online social world for a few years, until I tried again in ff14. After various free company dramas, I then quit 14 and trying to have an online community completely. Sad times.

Yeah the name Anjuli is more familiar.

Chuuu has the right idea, discord took over for Guildworks and we had a dev move over to them full time.

Most of my social time these days is random university discord channels for each of my current classes bitching about their respective professors and trying to chatgpt their way to degrees

I tried discord, especially when I was playing xiv. Maybe the issue is me, but I've found that times have moved on and people just don't interact the same way online anymore. Back in the first 10 - 15 years of the internet booming into existence, it just seemed like people wanted to talk more. But now it has become such an every day thing with zero novelty, I guess it feels like people are as anti-social as they would be in person?

It is pretty dead, I mostly lurk in random thoughts but only a few people posting consistently :( you might find some active communities on like discord, that's where I found a lot of friends.

Well all I can say is "good for you". I don't feel bad about telling you now, he sent me a picture of his junk. I dramatically reduced the frequency with which I communicated with him after that.

I think Mosin fell on hard times, Nik got old, fonewear got banned, thats all I know.

It was a fleeting thought I had. They creep up on me from time to time, thinking about the golden days of FFXI and posting in here (specifically this thread) hundreds of times each day.

I wonder what has became of all the people I interacted with on here.

Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking? likely just captures most of what people might put in here, and is bumped more often.

How I miss the days of posting on here. Looks like it is fully dead now.

I moved to another country and the same overworking continues, big surprise. I miss the walking to work in -40F but ehh. Thankfully the corny and boring unconditional support I never shut up about for family also persists, so things are greatly improved for the abandonment-issues ridden family members I've gotten to embrace here.


For a martyr-prone soul, it doesn't get much better than that.
I am grateful for all of the opportunities that have come my way, and there is a free campaign for 11 next week starting 8/23/24 so all are welcome to our digital ghetto for a visit as well.
