WotG was a very slow creep, with XIV probably being part of the culprit as they said they had started development as early as 2005 prior to its announcement in 2009. And Seun is continuing to ignore this.
I'm on record for making the joke "Why do we have a Dev Tracker thread when we haven't had developers for 18 years?". It's always been my opinion that we were ghosted for XIV. I think you have me confused with someone else.
I don't see the relation to my perception of WotG rollout. I was active and current in endgame and WotG really didn't add much content from my perspective. There were a few things added toward the end, but where is the motivation to grind content when you don't even know if it will be valid/viable a few months later when the level increases?
You remember in FFXIV 1.0 right before the servers went offline? Everyone just sorta standing around waiting for the world to end? WotG was like that, except it took 3 years.

Nynja, you could consider using AI to assist you more. As long as the AI isn't Musk's grok it might help.

It was long ago.
Is it time for a new FFXI? Hell no! If you didn't learn that lesson after XI I'm afraid you never will.

Afania, You merit a topic ban. Nah. Lol
First time posting (i think?) i just quit my job at walmart after 16 years. very similar situation. F that place. I almost quit lol, I need the insurance atm tho. I find it's not all bad, just gotta find the people and the mindset to make it worth it to whatever extent you can.

WotG missions took almost as long to finish releasing as the time between CoP and WotG.
It was like reading a few chapters of a book, putting the book away and trying to pick it up again 9 months later. But hey, you can run campaign til your eyes bleed. Please look forward to it.

Personally, while solo, I use Excalibur and do three steps to kill most things that I fight. This is for mobs like RoE 4 and other mobs that you are doing solo. I find 3 steps do a good amount of DMG and is very satisfying.
Maxentius and Naegling when you are are in PT / WS spam content. For me Maxentius is normally the pick here.
So far the Prime is mostly been an idle piece for me, and it has the advantage of having 35 MND on it, which is the highest for that slot. Maybe once we work out better WS sets for it I will find more use.
Other weapons
Murgleis is nice for max magic acc, and of course convert, but I seldom use it for combat
SU5 if you are doing mostly magic dmg. Sanguine Blade can be really nice in certain situations.
Mpu and Mandau I very rarely on RDM
Sequence I never use, and Almace I am to lazy to make.

FFXI official EU release came with CoP indeed.
But many europeans were already playing FFXI importing the US version.

Also if you want to SC i ussually pull out ullr to go with either naegling or maxentius.
Su5 obviously if you want to go with elemental ws or enspells.
I did make mythic for magic acc and its kind of cool what it does for convert not that i actually use that much and can't exactly recomend it given the cost and effort.

Agreed with everything Byrth said.
Granted that the 3 Abyssea miniexp put together... they sure packed a lot of content.
There were several design issues and I don't want to re-start the discussion, but it definitely did have a lot of very wide and scalable content for pretty much all tastes and needs.
Some of their choices didn't prove to be very effective in the long run but, none the less, they displayed a lot of creativity in trying "new things" there.
Have they ever been that creative in FFXI ever since?
I would dare to say "no" (and I bet some people are very happy about that!)

Which you have in your list.

I would put it more at the scale of one of the Abyssea expansions.

Depends on the content in question. As a general rule, RDM's best REMA for damage is Naegling. If you're solo self-skillchaining, the prime is probably very nice. Might be hard to attack cap against difficult enemies as a solo RDM though, which makes the PDL insignificant, though the skillchain properties mean not using ***-tier WS in your chain.

I'm not seeing a lot of information about the Sword prime weapon for RDM. Is it any good? Or are you better off making a different REMA for damage?

turn off game mode in win11 if you haven't already

I count Abyssea as being part of WotG as a whole, because of the obvious tie ins, re-use of concepts, and the fact walk of echoes clearly connects between the two conceptually.
And thus I consider Empyrean weapons to be the "wotg" ultimate weapons, because abyssea was just a set of 3 mini expansions that built "on top" of WotG.
Thats personally subjective though, I acknowledge.

Farsha has a lot more synergy for warrior than beastmaster. I would not have made an R15 Farsha if I didn't also play WAR. If you want magical damage you'll use Aymur and Primal Rend. I use Farsha in my Reward set for BST and that's about it, unfortunately.

The question was whether WotG was meant to have an ultimate weapon. The content provided doesn't support that as a likely idea. There's no distortion of facts here. If you think any of the ***you listed is a viable avenue for an ultimate weapon then that's your opinion. It's wrong, but it's your opinion.

Assaults were pretty much the only "endgame" content I did back then.
It was mostly pickup groups. Most shells just did salvage and limbus back then. Sky NMs if anyone needed byakko haidates.

That error can happen on zoning into instances with texture mods loaded, so you know.
The 4gb patch, large memory aware patch, can help. Thread about it somewhere in here.

Sure you had other things you could do, but we were doing the same thing because it was still more beneficial to the shell as a whole. None of the events you listed here ever took over an event spot in the weekly rotation. Please stop.
Oh, did Besieged, Nyzul, and Assaults take up a spot in your weekly rotation?

Happened to 3 members of our ls.
Two different events, 2 different days (yesterday dyna, today vagary), and they always d/c together at the same time.
Two of them are not even from the same country.
It's pretty weird, and it never happened before.
