I see 13:41 on Regen 5, Musa, Relic body, Emp hands, 3/5 Telchine, belt, cape, etc.
Haste 2 on self with Composure: 24:20
Haste 2 on other with Composure and Emp+3 pieces: 09:43
How is Haste2 going to 20 minutes with roll and Collada? I don't see how.

So probably Apollyon = Relic and Temenos = AF?
I believe it was stated in the Freshly Picked that it was the opposite.
It did say the opposite.
Quote from the Freshly Picked Slide (1:58:52)
Quote: Different points are accumulated in Temenos/Apollyon.
Temenas → For strengthening relic equipment.
Apollyon → For strengthening artifacts Strengthen with the furnace in Limbus.
Had to double check because I've been telling people the wrong thing lol.

Good to know about the tomahawk thing vs v25.. this would explain why ws dmg always felt lower than what it could be, thx god i recently got relic piece to enhance tomahawk
Tomahawk and Savagery 5/5 is amazing and standard. The ultimate burst "get wrecked" combo.
Idk..tbh the v25 kills i got never used it lmao, not against t1-2 nor against Kalunga last week.. but ye i'll start using it xD
It's a very noticeable difference. Especially on the 25% push to kill.

I regularly do eles with no DP or STP Rostram (using roll Rostram+Gleti's, /DNC with +21 DW so no samba needed, SAM roll+Wiz roll)... and do it quick enough that I'm not last to be at D (DHABCGEF route). Why argue over which to use when none are needed?
Because the discussion isn't about what's needed to clear a specific content, but it is about min maxing one specific job in terms of gear choices. COR/DRK in sortie isn't the only time that COR single wield and path A v.s B discussion is relevant even in dual wield situations.
Min maxing is part of fun and gameplay in FFXI, and coming from someone who tried to argue "ideal" setup in seg runs it's kinda weird that you have problem with other people playing the min maxing game in FFXI now.
But K123 has a very valid point tho. Cor is hardly the bottleneck in that part of Sortie, so whatever min-max you make specific to that point is going to be absorbed by other people's objective.

- low access to PDL gear which benefits that WS more than WSD
Why would you want PDL, when you wont be able to cap attack without it anyway? :D I doubt even with 3 soul voice minuets and Honor, Chaos roll and Diaga, you will be attack capped even with no PDL. No native sword skill, no skill on sub weapon, no attack on both weapons.
Also WHM has some PDL still. Emphremad, Bunzi body, Crep ammo.
Indeed having access to 3-4 pieces of pdl is low access, that is why i said low access.. compared to DDs with many more pdl slots available, that is what i consider low access to pdl. I thought it was obvious.. meh.
Also u'd be surprised to know that sometimes i've even been able to ride aria on whm, it's not like we can't wear huge atk+ gear and def debuffing exists, so sometimes you can actually use pdl as whm. You wouldn't be using whm dd for v25 or sortie basement, we're talking about piss easy content sub 140

I always Crooked Naturalist 11 and buff Haste/Regen V/Refresh 3 before going into Sortie.
Regen V with Crooked Naturalist 11 with GEO present, combined with all available enhancing duration bonus gear (Musa, Telchine, Arbatel Bracers +3, Lugh's Cape) is 26 minutes.
Haste II with Crooked Naturalist 11 + GEO, Emp AF Head/Body/Legs/Feet, AF+3 Hands, Embla Sash, Colada, Ammurapi, Ghostfyre, Lethargy Earring +2, Duelist Torque +2 is 20 minutes.
I usually only 3 (Lucky) roll Naturalist for Sheol C to save time, but even with a Lucky roll, Regen V is 23 minutes.
Inside Sortie, Haste II (no Naturalist roll) is 14 minutes.
I don't actually take SCH into these content so no info on Regen V without Naturalist though.
I also specified that i use the max potency/duration hybrid set, specifically to avoid tbis comment about max duration regen lol.. yet here we are once again. I know Regen V can last longer, but i prefer to use potency where you get more out of it than using flat max duration. 21m of strong regen is better imo than 24-26 of weaker regen. This discussion is as old as the world.. some ppl just prefer going without potency but max duration, i'm not one of them xD

Did some rough tests on the SC damage with the shield
Lv1 skillchain:
Target: Locus Camelopard (resistance ranks: Fire 130%, Stone 100%)
Gear: Joyeuse + Diamond Aspis + normal TP set, also for the WS (without SC damages or affinity bonus during WS)
Day: Stone
Both the target and the day were not ideal, but for a rough test it seems some insight can still be gained
1. RLB: Damage 3230
2. Seraph: Damage 1603, SC (scission) damage 984
3. RLB: Damage 1262, SC (liquidation) damage 784
4. Seraph: Damage 881, SC (scission) damage 616
5. RLB: Damage 1428, SC (liquidation) damage 1481
6. Seraph: Damage 1287, SC (scission) damage 1158
7. RLB: Damage 313, SC (liquidation) damage 406
8. Seraph: Damage 474, SC (scission) damage 474
9. RLB: Damage 1204, SC (liquidation) damage 1721
10. Seraph: Damage 399, SC (scission) damage 399
11. RLB: Damage 338, SC (liquidation) damage 439
12. Seraph: Damage 642, SC (scission) damage 642
13. RLB: Damage 1641, SC (liquidation) damage 2133
14. Seraph: Damage 1603, SC (scission) damage 1603
Extrapolating from the SC damage table (0.9 at 6 steps), it appears that the multiplier caps at 1.0 from the 7th step onwards.
LV2/3 skillchain
Exacalibur + Diamond Aspis + TP set
Target: Locus armet beetle (BG wiki says it has 100% resistance rank across elements, but it appears that it has 150% on light and ice like any other beetles)
Day: stone
1. Savage: Damage 4164
2. CDC: Damage 2518, SC (Distortion) damage 2544
3. KOR: Damage 3203, SC (Fusion) damage 3882
4. Requiescat: Damage 1502, SC (Gravitation) damage 1856
5. Savage: Damage 4724, SC (Fragmentation) damage 6091
6. CDC: Damage 3563, SC (Distortion) damage 8295
7. KOR: Damage 2625, SC (Fusion) damage 7168
8. Requiescat: Damage 1496, SC (Gravitation) damage 2804
9. Savage: Damage 3181, SC (Fragmentation) damage 5782
10. CDC: Damage 4562, SC (Distortion) damage 12253
11. KOR: Damage 2129, SC (Fusion) damage 5866
12. Requiescat: Damage 1708, SC (Gravitation) damage 3125
13. Savage: Damage 4834, SC (Fragmentation) damage 5752
14. CDC: Damage 4562, SC (Distortion) damage 18490
15. KOR: Damage 2332, SC (Fusion) damage 6400
16. Savage: Damage 4336, SC (Light) damage 16539
17. KOR: Damage 3407, SC (Light) damage 13054
Based on the apparent resistance rank 150% on Ice and Light, it appears that also for LV2 and LV3, the multiplier caps at the 7th onwards. Extrapolating from the known table, it appears that the multiplier for LV2 caps at 1.75 (or 1.8) while LV3 caps at 2.5

This may be a stupid question but I kept looking at the Hunt Registry going "What the hell is that even for" and that took me down a rabbit hole to thinking "Would it even make sense to make an armor set (minus head) to get a 12 minute reduction time on Astral Flow recast?"
Is this a dumb thought? Or is there something that might be useful here?
All these recast reductions were gimped when 2hrs became 1hrs. Also not all armor slots can hold the biggest evoliths.
You can get about -7, which would be 3.5 minutes.

I don't know what kind of dd gear whm has access to, but when i go to OdyC as bst/nin, when there are skeletons {even on the last floor), ambu h2h does the trick, even tho bst has no native h2h skill.
I use a multi-hit build, so no malignance.

Yeah makes sense to have a sets.FC and a sets.FC.ElementalMagic, but you'd also need logic to know if dark arts is active for healing and enhancing magic (SS would be penalised right?) that has another +10%. Or does anyone even sub SCH for anything anymore?

regen V lasts 21+ minutes (hybrid potency/duration set) and Haste II for like 19 minutes (crooked naturalist roll before entering). What are your durations on these with no nat roll? They sound very high, both my SCH and RDM are BiS and I don't think I hit the numbers you have here. I think Haste2 with no Nat roll is about 12mins?

So probably Apollyon = Relic and Temenos = AF?
I believe it was stated in the Freshly Picked that it was the opposite. Pretty sure they also said that Sortie bosses would have weapon/armor drops added to them, years ago. They say a lot of things.

That having been said, we've heard this aversion to new stories before... If and when FFXI' budget gets a bump and they are still singing the same tune, that would be more cause for concern.
Honestly. VR story was so bad I wish they will just use resources to make fun content.
Woah there, that's asking too much. Gotta keep expectations manageable. Thus spake Saevel, the idiot sandwich.

Gets skadi feet+1, its not ilvl but is 18% Ah~! Thanks, I figured I would forget something.
That bumps Bst and Dnc off my list of jobs without 18%, though then puts it on the non ilvl list. If I didn't have Shneddick, I'd still be willing to drop that ilvl slot for the 18% but it would hurt. Perhaps SE will put some 18% on those jobs AF upgrades.
So, to update
War, Mnk, Whm, Blm, Bst(18% but non-iLvl), Sam, Nin(25%night 12% non-ilvl day), Smn, Pup, Dnc(non-iLvl) and Sch.
This makes Chocobo Knife even more worthless. /Hurray

Dropping am3 for sub changes is a mistake.
|
|
 |
|
Even if Chocobo knife was good, it doesn't really help the situation.
Carmine legs take care of Rdm, Pld, Drk, Rng, Drg, Blu, Cor and Run.
JSE with 18%: Thf, Brd, Rng, Geo.
Dnc is the only Chocobo Knife job that doesn't appear to have a better movement speed option. The thought of dropping AM3 or TP for it is disgusting.
I don't include Kupo Suit, which yes has 18% and is all jobs but being a bonanza item, is not reasonable and you're dropping several Ilvl slots to wear even if it was something you could just go get anytime.
Nin has that 25% but that is only dusk to dawn.
So, 11/22, a full half of jobs, are left in the dust.
War, Mnk, Whm, Blm, Bst, Sam, Nin(daytime), Smn, Pup, Dnc(without choco knife) and Sch.
Sorry, that turned into a rant. So many jobs are stuck with non-ilvl, 12% items which is a double fail. If I missed any 18% items for any of those jobs feel free to let me know.
