That Coke ad is something else. Who watches an ad for Coke like that and thinks: "I wanna drink sugary piss water"?

Then again, here we are, talking about it and I never talk about Coke, so they clearly got their objective.

Crafting Shields ruined crafting.

If creating it didn't take several times longer than consuming it chances are it's not worth to be consumed in the first place.

Also I wouldn't count rephrasing prompts til AI spits something out that "fits" as time spent creating.

Apparently cola rendered around 70k AI videos till they got something they considered good enough for their advertisement.
The good enough advertisement:
I remember someone commenting how anal large companies can be even just for minor errors like the kerning of a single letter being slightly off but then consider this adequate...

I prefer this version:

They could make crafted mats, which can be put the AH and you could trade the mats + existing weapons/armor to an NPC for an upgrade.

New mat + R15 relic weapon trade to NPC for new relic weapon with +1 dmg and +5 skill +3 stat (str/dex whatever) and +1% wsd (for that ws)

Point is crafting doesn't have to invalidate any content its easily built ontop of it in the above scenario nothing is currently less desirable it just forces crafters to be involved. (this also could close the gap slightly between primes and traditional REMAs, but other armor sets could be included).

why not just make a sock puppet then

it really, truly doesn't matter if we know that you edited a wiki to add helpful information

what the hell are you talking about

not really related, but I do wonder what if any plans they have for new crafted gear. if new recipes were added where would the materials come from? forever tied to delve, vagary, and dynamis? nothing after dyna d has a money component that I remember, though could probably be added relatively easily.
Monkey's paw curls: you know how everyone complains about having too many Ra'Kaznar Sapphires?

They haven't added anything new and tradable since Dyna-D and Omen.
Sortie only has ex drops (but would be hilarious)
Limbus only has the ex Matters in chests (and would be evil)

Realistically, they're adding Ultima/Omega/top level Besieged soon. The former two are like Ou and the latter is like Wyrm Ash, so there's precedent either way.

If I was in charge and told to add crafting recipes, I'd do more with the 1.1m gil NPC items used in AF/Relic reforge. That makes it an actual gil sink (PC -> NPC) into the bargain, which the game sorely needs more of.

Can you increase your chocobo's stats after retirement?
Yes, there's two distinct sets of training items.

You want the ones named "Chocotrain" that cost 100 Chocobucks.
NOT the "R Chocotrain" that costs 90 Chocobucks, those are for training the bird you're currently raising.

These are the ones you want:
https://www.ffxiah.com/item/2482/chocotrain-str
(obviously there are four stat specific ones + one random one you should never use)

Trade one of those and your VCS Registration Card for the chocobo you want to train to the Chocobuck NPCs.

Not the person you asked, but I sure as hell want an ilevel Moblin Maze Mongers after really digging into the tabula+rune system. It's Nyzul Isle level of content-generation ability and it's sad that it's totally dead except for Revitalizer spam.

I am frequently impressed by Zantetsuken's proc rate when I offhand it for mowing down Sheol A mobs when I'm doing solo runs on BLU.
maybe dark weather also has a impact on proc rate?

I have one test sample on record for Tartarus death spikes from back in 2015. 1,434 hits, with 21 procs. 1.46% proc rate.
The time frame in which those procs happened would also be interesting. Did you keep pulling to replace dead mobs to keep hit frequency consistently high or did you stop at a camp?
Did you optimise for mobs with high attack rate?

Do we even know which mobs have the highest attack frequency? probably MNKs but do we know if it can proc from offhand/multi attacks?
I think spiders - in particular diremite attack quickly, maybe chigoe (don't think there are any apex/locus) or frogs although I wouldn't know a good camp with apex versions of those.

Sadly, I don't think Hoxne Ring will ever have a real place on the Marketboard.

90-95% of people that level THF to 99 never put more than TH8 in their gear. So proccing past TH8 would be literally impossible for them, and by extension proc rate increase is useless.

One mob out of 10 every 3rd or 4th pack.

I am frequently impressed by Zantetsuken's proc rate when I offhand it for mowing down Sheol A mobs when I'm doing solo runs on BLU. Mobs in A die in one WS anyway so no point in off-handing Thibron so you can get spicy.

It's also possible your ISP has a less than optimal BGP configuration and you're getting poor routing options for specific destinations.
By Rairin on 2025-12-02 05:32:40
While it's true that just using a VPN can change your route and avoid problem nodes, there are other potential mechanisms. If you're using the VPN over TCP, any traffic that drops between you and the VPN will be resent automatically. So, if your VPN has a stable connection to SE's servers you can gain stability even if your connection to the VPN is unstable. In that case I'd recommend the nearest VPN to servers(one in Japan).

UDP over TCP is generally ill-advised because it can hinder speeds, but in this case the loss is basically nonexistent. It's another consideration.

I used Tartarus Mail recently on one of my mules in Sheol A as a WAR/sam with only about 300JP.

Very limited sample size compared to Martel, but it was this year, The Year of Our Lord 2025, and out of a single Sheol A solo run doing all the mob packs and halo on first floor, and then booking it to the porter up to 5th and onward to the end...

One mob out of 10 every 3rd or 4th pack. Frequent enough to be useful to him, but unable to rely on it to really speed anything up. At the time, other gear was augmented Valorous, so packing nothing special.

Also someone mentioned WAR and DRK dual wielding death swords, but WAR can also wield the Odium dagger, and dual wield iLvl death weapons, if you really wanna give that a whirl (while wearing the death spikes body too!).

Wonder how quickly mobs would fall with a platemail PLD pulling.
Pretty slowly, even with a fairly large pull. And you have to be engaged for it to proc.

I have one test sample on record for Tartarus death spikes from back in 2015. 1,434 hits, with 21 procs. 1.46% proc rate. But the sample size is small enough that this could actually be anywhere from 1%~2% actual proc rate.

Didn't record or control for any macc related factors(Some add effects have a macc check and the proc rate can move within its limits based on that.)

I have nothing against labelling for the Luddites.

My point is the current labelling isn't clear. Most people will be offended by 2d game art made with AI. If you use ChatGPT for some text then have to label AI use it might give the wrong impression that AI was used for imagery even if it was not.
I'd be willing to bet that 99% of dev's using AI are going to use it for art first, not "hey ChatGPT, fill in some dialog here"

Have 110 CC from years ago when used to farm spiders in tree for rainbow thread. Before ToAU killed the market.
Anyway thinking about making a crafting shield. Is CC one worth it or is there a better craft to try and get the shield on? Thanks.
None of them are really worth the effort, or the price, or the gambling addiction. For a casual.

It would be the absolute last thing I did if going for rank 9(10)

Su3 is mostly dead and cloth makes the worst set. Cloth doesn't make Su5 weapons. And makes some of the least used Su5 necks.

(*)they could at any moment create a new item that requires clothcraft shield and if you have it before they make it, you will be the winner. It will happen... eventually.

Holy ***every bit of this is incredibly wrong.

Baayami is BiS (albeit for SMN) and mandatory gear, none of which has been replaced by any gear released since it came out.

Cloth makes 2 Su5 weapons which, while extremely niche, are still used by some people (I've sold a dozen or so?)

Cloth necks are all extremely good, far-and-away BiS items for their jobs. I've sold almost 300 of them, they often sell instantly and I'm constantly having people request them. Loads of people still using mage strats, especially in Sortie.

Kaykaus gear is insanely good, very-BiS for a lot of jobs and highly in-demand, and generally very profitable.

I've made 7,422,746,700 gil using my Clothcraft shield. Probably significantly more since I farmed a lot of my own materials, but ya know, opportunity cost and all that.

I'm not saying a casual player who plays once/week is gonna quickly make a shield and then quickly turn around billions of gil in profits, but like...when it comes to the kinds of people who are grinding their 1000th title, RoE, and quest completion...we aren't talking about the casual, everyday joes.

Does anybody have a solution to this that does not involve a VPN? I've tried the VPN but it creates issues with other things that I'm doing in tandem with XI making it an unhelpful solution. This issue creeps up every-so-often and it's very annoying. It's been about 6 months since I've seen it, but now it's back with a vengeance! It used to only happen later at night, but now it's all hours.

I don't, but if you tweak your config, you should be able to send only traffic from PlayOnline/XI apps over the VPN.

Alternatively, or if your VPN doesn't support split tunneling, you can approach it from the destination end of things and specify that only connections to SE's domains go via VPN.
