there are probably a dozen or more active shellmates running around from time to time. but maybe six that are currently doing content with us when we are on. so for instance.... gihzah and her husband moved to japan so they aren't on when we are doing omen or dyna. so while I enjoy playing with them and helping her farm her thwash I'm reluctant to throw a lot of gil at her gear since if you aren't doing high tier content there is little need for high tier gear.
so which piece for which job on which player is going to give us the most bang for the buck in end game? my wife and I went halfsies on chimi's rdm neck piece because he is kicking a lot of ***, non stop pulling and needs to sleep mobs in dyna. so in this particular instance 5 mil for a neck piece will do more than 1/8th of a punchy hand or waist upgrade on mosin...
does that make nitefall jealous or hurt mosin's feelings? idc
we do whatever we think is right at the time and consequences be damned.
I think we spread the love pretty generously and evenly and if we don't that's tough titties. we will get everyone everything they ever wanted in this game all in good time.

i love that ffxi for you guys has now turned into figuring out a way to manage your investments so you can afford the gear you want when you get older.
