Actually, Back in the days when I first started playing I had a thing with a Mithra who made me believe she was a woman, then after a year or so I found out it was a man... And there I was having my semi-lesbian fantasy popped :D

Well, ffxi is also famous for two tailed mithra and lots of dudes playing female humes that pretended or led people to believe they were chicks in order to get attention or money/gil/items. The phrase everyone is a dude is usually a call to treat everyone as a person playing a game as opposed to a potential booty booty booty booty rockin everywhere. Not, "girls shouldn't play games".

It would be like if I went to a forum about dresses and were a regular poster there. I wouldn't blame people for thinking that I'm a woman until I state that I am a man.

I can see your point where we "assume" that most people waisting their time on games are men though :p

I would argue that the likelihood of someone being male on a forum related to a videogame is greater than them being a woman, so I would say that assuming someone you do not know is a man is not really sexist.

I would say that maybe you have a point if someone has a more feminine or masculine name, but Kojo sort of ruined that for us.

I'm not trying to get into a discussion about gender norms or gender roles and whether or not a man needs to have a masculine name anf a woman has to have a feminine name. I just wanted to offer some insight as to why someone would assume your gender.

Fyi, there are men with boobs, hail all moobs! So they mean absolutely nothing about your gender! I can PM you all about how I feel when I have my periods though!
(The stuff about "on the internet it are all males" and "catfishing yadayada" is kind of sexist. Its like as a woman you're supposed to hide online (or act like a stupid attention you know what. unless you're on a site with a forum on pads and tampons/pregnancy/menopauze/make up)
