you are saying I would get the clear and skip the ladder straight to the top, but actually winning the fight would be unlikely as I'm a complete anchor to the pt, yes?
Yes.

 |

Yes, that's it. You can skip all the steps as long as someone take you in.
For Atonement 1 and 2 this might be OK. For Atonement 3, it's much more difficult to simply carry (well not 100% carry, but you get what I mean) someone.
For Bumba (Atonement 4) it's... well probably easier than most Atonement 3 fights, except on V25. Mostly because you can just zerg it.

Honestly, this attitude is rare and incredibly admirable. Admitting you are unfamiliar with something and then improving your mastery through other roles until you acquire the skill set will get you far (not just in XI, but life overall). If I still had a sub (and you were on Bahamut), I would have more than invited you to join PUGs with me.
Thank you for the kind words. Actually used to be on Bahamut like 10 years ago or something like that. Definitely lots of good people over there
Someone else that has v20 clears can take you in.
However, the progression is v0/1->v5/v10->v15->v20->v25, with augment tiers starting from v15.
Trying to clear v25 with v15 augments unlocked (from a v5 clear) means you're missing those augments for the clear.
This is confusing me a bit, you are saying I would get the clear and skip the ladder straight to the top, but actually winning the fight would be unlikely as I'm a complete anchor to the pt, yes?

Geo is not a real geomancer like in other ff games. In ffxi geo is the outcome of blm having a baby with a bard.
The geo part of the mechanics is not present at all. Imagine doing extra damage based on the floor on you are standing on?

for folks using Hot Shot on A/E+C/G bosses in Sortie, what does your set look like, and how is your dmg/acc?
anyone hit capped dmg on C/G w Hot Shot yet? I'm still trying - need to cap my Nyame qq
also - what are folks using for a Terminus set? and for those doing Sortie... is it even applicable to use it? I was thinking it prob wouldn't compete with HotShot for dmg on C/G, but then my teammate mentioned maybe using it instead on Savage (which woiuld help us avoid wall since our BRD savages) and it got me thinking
Is hot shot better that rudra"s?
I have my brd on rudras and cor on savage...

Tyvm for the replies
My jobs are Run, Cor, Sam, Blu, Sch, Rdm, Nin, Rng. All very well geared but ofc no ody gear augs. I did actually clear all v0 with a friend a few years ago before we quit. Back then we got segments by rounding up mobs to cast cruel joke on, obv nothing I expect to see in a pug.
Don't think I would want to go on RUN since tanks are usually expected to do pulls or know the strat well in general.
Btw, can I join a random v25 boss run and get the clear even though I only have have v5 access or how does that work?
Sortie pugs definitely sound like a bit of a challenge to get into but I'll check out those links later, thanks

Hello,
On dirait que le lien discord est mort.
Dans tous les cas, j'essayerai de contacter l'un d'entre vous IG. Je rejoue depuis quelques temps, et j'aimerai bien refaire un peu de contenu, notamment ody et sortie :)

On GEO specifically, I'd just sub Dancer and keep up Haste Samba; frees up the cape slot for Null and you can hit 9 dw in the earrings. You're supporting the party more than anything, so your relatively insignificant contribution to DPS as /NIN is inconsequential when compared to /DNC, but the added utility /DNC brings to a sub-handcuffed job like GEO is a much better option imo.
I only really consider ninja sub to be an option for jobs like COR that need whatever defensive assistance in something like Segs when you might pull hate after a Savage Blade or something. Otherwise, I feel it's kind of outdated. The issue with /DNC on GEO specifically is you won't be able to hit 50% Waltz Potency set without getting Merlinic Dark Matter augments.

If you're dualwielding, you need to cap that as /NIN and you have mainly two paths: 1) 10% DW on Cape, 2) Shetal Stone + Suppanomimi.
If you go for path 2, you're gonna need some way to cap haste.
5/5 Nyame doesn't cap haste.
Most likely you're gonna want Lots of Nyame if anything for the DT, but some slots that can help you cap haste are the hands slot.
Gazu Bracelets+1 alone provide 15% Haste (and lotsa acc).
Then there's the Null Masque, providing 10% haste and lotsa nice stats (DT too!)
Other notable non-nyame options are Blistering Sallet +1 (lotsa acc, 8% haste, some DA and PDT) and Jhakri legs +2 (almost no haste, but lotsa acc and STP, one of the few STP options for GEO).
Last but not least, of course there's also the RoV Lehko's ring which can be very nice to cap haste, if you have it.

For Bumba V25; Enter at 77% (Pre Add/SP) Has anyone had it where the first Kaustra hits successfully over 90k but then doesn't tick for any damage? We confirmed its not in dark absorb and have replicated this 5 or 6 times in a row.
Never had that happen and we've done dozens of runs with 92~99K first Kaustras at 77%. Walk through the steps that you were doing as you might of come across some sort of bug.

Hey all, haven't really been active for quite a few years. I see a decent amount of pug yells for ody segs and sortie farm but I don't feel comfortable joining those runs as I don't really know anything about how these parties are supposed to function or what I'm supposed to do in there.
So far been running around solo in sortie to learn A-D objectives and get keyitems + killed random mobs in ody C.
Looking for videos, guides or any sort of advice really.
Thanks
Ody C:
- Used to Farm Segments (used to enter boss fights).
- Most popular layouts:
1. Melee Burn (3x DD, Whm or Sch, Brd, Cor)
2. Tank Method (2x DD, Run or Paladin, Whm or Sch, Brd, Cor)
- VERY Pug friendly --- I've almost exclusively PUGed this.
- Somewhat Mid-Game. DD need to have ws set and -dt gear. Brd needs to sleep mobs. Easiest entry is for healer or Cor (roll *** while you gear your WS / DD sets).
Ody NMs:
- CLEARing unlocks various gear access. Ex:
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Category:Odyssey#Atonement_1
- The "V0" (gear unlock) fights are fairly easy. Augmenting runs (clears for augmenting unlock) can be hard. RP farm (farming the points, but unable to spend unless you got the augmenting run clear) are really easy.
PERSONALLY. I love doing Ody NMs and Ody C. Its been my favorite content in the game for years.

Hey again Keylestra, just had a quick couple questions:
Am I missing some asset for the checkmark / arrow to show when skills successfully fire off? I'm just getting blank squares as seen below.
Second question, what exactly is Sub Target for? Does it show your pet's target, or your target's target? I can't seem to get it to work properly either way. Thanks in advance.

Odyssey and Sortie are two very different events. Which jobs do you go for each? Let us know and we can provide some feedback from there.
Different sortie statics may have their own team google doc floating around, but until that point, I think this sortie guide is decent for getting started: https://www.ffxiah.com/node/469
Also, gotta plug Velner because he streams Sortie/FFXI and is just a fun watch:
Velner: Sortie Catch up Guide
Velner: Sortie Melee Method

Basically for Odyssey C runs, the point is to kill as many families as possible but also claim the end reward.
You get 7k gil per monster killed and 20+ Moogle Segments as well. The total Moogle Segments is actually what's most important, but plenty of people still care about the gil, too.
To join those groups you'll want to gear out a WAR, BRD, COR, SCH, PLD, RUN, or SAM. The "ideal" group comp is a PLD, WARx2, BRD, COR, and SCH. This is because the monsters in Sheol C have unusual physical damage type resistances. For example: Crabs only take 75% slashing damage. So you want a strong job that has multiple damage types, and WAR fits that bill easiest (other DD jobs are perfectly viable provided they have 2 weapon damage types. The cadence of a Sheol C run goes something like:
Enter, run straight down the stairs, buff while monster family is pulled (unless it's a bad monster type or an Agon Halo, when wait for full buffs). Either way, then run back upstairs and start progressing towards the end, killing monster families as you go. You get a segment bonus for eliminating entire families, each family pack being 10 of the same monster.
A good run will net you about 1 million gil and around 5~7k segments. A decent run is 700~800k gil and 4k segs. An absurdly good run, imo, is anything over 1.2mil gil and 8k segs. The maximum possible for kill every single monster and doing some UNM spawned NMs inside is something along the lines of 1.54million gil and 13k segments. I have seen this amount, once.
TL;DR - Sheol C parties are essentially Master Level Merit burn style parties that push through the event killing as much as they can within the 30 minute time limit. You can get into them most easily as a healer or support job, as those have the least demand on gear/MLs to be effective.
------------------
Sortie groups are another beast entirely. Sortie is a 1 hour event that's really not like any other event in the game, if we're completely honest. You gain the Gallimaufry currency in Sortie, and the most effective way to earn it is to kill bosses/target objectives. The basement bosses give 10000 Galli when killed, but you must kill their ground floor version that gives 2000 Galli in order to enter the basement boss fights. This means in an 8 boss Sortie run that you are doing the objectives to access and kill the ground floor bosses, and then the basement bosses. This means an 8 boss run's minimum galli made is 48000 (actually more than this due to objectives involving killing regular monsters that give small amounts of galli when killed. The actual total of an 8 boss run is over 50k).
9 Boss runs involve doing Aminon, who gives 30000 Galli by himself, but is one of the hardest bosses the game currently has to offer, requiring a very specific TP denial strat in order to kill.
Because the nature of Sortie is a race against the clock that doesn't end until the clock has run out, its meta composition always involves jobs that enhance movement speed. It also means you need to have ML20+ and be fully geared for whatever job you bring, again with the support jobs requiring less to be effective for a group. Basically, unless your group just doesn't give a ***(understandable given this is a daily task) about the Galli that could be made in the final few minutes of a run, after killing 8/9 boss, there's always something more to do til the clock runs out in order to earn more Galli. Unlike other events like Dyna-D, Omen, and the like that have clear endpoints, Sortie has no real end, as it's not currently possible to kill every single monster that you could potentially spawn and fight inside of Sortie.
And then, even if you had some sort of mega mass pulling god and did manage to literally kill every single boss and regular mob in Sortie, you can rematerialize every single monster inside of Sortie, so there is technically a hard cap to maximum gain from Sortie, but as it stands, no one can actually attain it, and are soft capped at 9 boss runs and whatever you can get done after (some Naakual basement sets or whatever).
TL;DR - Sortie is a serious endgame event where there are a couple of ways to skin it, and you'll want to be fully geared/confident in your abilities job knowledge before you get into a serious group OR find/make a group that'll let you learn as you advance in getting better at it etc. Gallimaufry is for upgrading Empyrean Armor +3 and also for making Prime Weapons.

2 Left feet. My left hand is egregiously stupid compared to my right hand, so much so that I think I would struggle to live with two of it. (It's also been a lot weaker since 1. I broke it when I was 13, and 2. Nearly broke it again when stack of steel belted tires fell on me at the end of 2016)
Be able to seduce anyone physically? (you can get anyone for sex, basically, but you can never have interesting conversations/friendships with these people)
or
Be able to seduce anyone mentally? (you can engage with anyone of any degree of mental acumen, and have them accept your ideas, but you can never engage with them physically be it for sport or sex!)

Very proud of this clear. v25 Mboze with double MEVA down. Squeaked out a win with :04 on the clock.
If you haven't done Mboze v25, MEVA down means you are constantly paralyzed by the add, which is being used as a TP battery.

I'm testing different staves with different ninjutsu spells. Does anybody have the logic / rules I can add to my nin.lua to auto switch staves when casting various ninjutsu elemental spells?

No. One thread seeks a forum/platform that connects mercs with people seeking mercs. This thread is specifically looking for a Sortie static. Similarly, in-game, I may merc MLs while I'm at work, but will run with a static in the evenings for specific content.
Then why not just merc Sortie?
Sortie is a 1-hour grind that requires a team's maximum effort in order to achieve maximum results. And every night teases the potential for +2 earrings. It's different than parking my character and going AFK for 12-20 hours.

Cost inefficient, plus you also have to play to enter bosses etc. - completely different ballgame.
