This isn't true. There is degradation of children born to older men past a certain age. I have seen it firsthand and there is science to support it.

What, who and why were the world wars started? Why did Putin invade Ukraine? Not for progressive reasons that's for sure.

Ukraine has decimated its young male population, they have vastly more young women than young men now.

Mass mass mass immigration from india and the middle east is their future, they are gonna get it far worse than even the UK and France.

Putin has decimated Ukraine's young male population.

Lower birth rate has absolutely nothing to do with fairness and equality policy lol. All of the lowest birth rate regions aren't western.....

Women have a short amount of time to have children, men can have children when they are 90 so it doesn't matter what they do (they can jerk off and play vidya all day and still do their primary role to society as an old man). Even at 30, women are more prone to having children with birth defects, let alone higher.

If you have a culture that promotes women to to see a career as the goal of their entire life (especially 18>30), and demonizing motherhood then you're going to destroy your countries.

Women should be supported 18>30 and free to do whatever they want, after that they can go all in on a career if they want. Treating women like men is really damn stupid and celebrating when colleges and universities are now majority women is clowny.

Most of the problems in the world are caused by men. The collapse of the human race will likely be because of men.

Yes because modern men are the creators of this progressive equality ideology with no end in the first place (women didn't do any of this, men enabled all of it), and the reason for that is two massive world wars created evolutionary pressure that killed off the majority of sensible men and a sea of soy remained (especially in Europe, it was less catastrophic in the US).

Western liberal culture won't last, it's even dying at breakneck speed after a few decades of adoption because it is utterly unsustainable. There is no arguing against that, it is blatantly obvious what we are doing does not work on a foundational level and population collapse is in effect. If not for mass immigration from 3rd world patriarchal cultures every western country would have fallen by now, our economies would have collapsed.

The reasons for any kind of large dip in birth rates in western countries are likely to do with the growing cost of living (thanks to greedy companies and world leaders - pretty much all of which are men) and also the fear of the future and bringing up kids in a world where the population is trying to kill each other and the planet we live on.

I found something interesting in South Gustaberg, which sent me on a wild goose chase to find out why it is there. If you look up and to your right after warping to Abyssea - Altepa, you will see this on the side of the cliff.

There’s no way this is a natural formation, so I inspected South Gustaberg’s DAT file.

See the red arrow? It points to a small arch a player could run in to. Also, the bigger section next to it is blocked up with bricks. Why would that be? Is there anything beyond it? While there isn't anything directly behind, I panned the camera and this is what we see.

It could be nothing. However, if you look at one of the concept drawings for the Vana'Diel world map, there could be an answer. West of Bastok, we can see "Mythril (Mines)", and this is in a very similar area to where the above is placed in South Gustaberg.

Developers may originally have intended to have the Mythril Mines here. Kazham is south west, so there'd be no need to include a way to get there under the ocean. This idea was scrapped when Kazham became Kuzotz, so it was blocked off and Korroloka Tunnel was created to connect Kuzotz to the mainland.

This would explain why mining equipment remains in Gustaberg despite Bastok's focus on Korroloka for years. As Gustaberg is a bit of a wasteland, developers kept mining tools there to give it some character. However, as a Bastokan for over 20 years, it never made sense to me why this stuff would be left out there.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, or someone else already found this a long time ago. I just found it interesting and wanted to share.

I may have developed a Mandela Effect memory, but I was pretty sure waaaaay back in early 2005 when I beat the 2-5 Mammet fight in CoP for the first time that instead of getting dumped out by the lighthouse, the COP mission originally dumped you into that cut out, and with no other recourse you hopped down from there.

I have a distinct memory of it, and have always gazed up at that cutout every time I am in that section of South Gustaberg.

Love seeing the posts like these. Keep it up!

To add to it, though, I've always wondered if they ever intended to make more zones like Beadeaux. You know how you have easy access ramps that eventually take you on top of what also double as the zone perimeter walls. You can run around much of the border of the zone in Beadeaux, and there's a few other zones in the game that feel like you should have been able to do something similar.

Also always felt like there was a bunch of stuff they intended for Ft. Ghelsba by San d'Oria, as it is much more intricate of a zone compared to Giddeus or Palborough Mines (though Palbo is pretty up there too).

Keep in mind the data from that chart is from 2016 so we are talking 8-9 years ago. 9 years is a long time in the gaming industry. This is pre-pandemic, so there might be some shifting around with those genre percentages now.

I always assumed the carving into the wall there was a visual hint to Gwynham Ironheart, the bastok seaman who traveled Vana'diel and left the stone tablets as he went. There is one a short distance from there, there are 20+ more.

ROM-1 24, 25, 29, 30.DAT: Shows the maps used for the boat trip between Selbina and Mhaura. Why are there four identical zones? Perhaps dependent on the type of ride you experience? I can't remember if there are two boats. If so, there are two zones for each.

Pirates. One zone is Mhaura to Selbina, one is Selbina to Mhaura, one is Mhaura to Selbina WITH PIRATES!!, and... yeah. Maybe it's because of the different fishing table, might have been harder for them to change the availability of certain fish based on whether the event was going to happen or not, so they said screw it and just made additional zones?

Something I'm curious about though: as you ride the ferry, you see landscape details slide by in the distance. What's actually moving: the boat, or the landscape?

Mobile games are so popular and respected among the gaming community these great amazingly popular cash cows been nominated for GOTY zero times in the last decade.

Mobile devices are meant for portability and convenience. The point is to use as little resources as possible, so nobody is really shocked that they don't compare with dedicated gaming devices. That's should be the expectation...

I think it's worthwhile to include the QD effect on all the pages where it could be relevant...but TBH most people aren't going to give a half a ***and the actual increase hasn't been tested for most of them so...it won't really be all that helpful. For Dia, SE gave us a chart with the values so...it seems a lot more relevant.

I don't agree with the second half. I think there are some (enough) people who play this game in 2025, to care about the corner cases and every bizzare, niche thing you can do for fun or curiosity.

So, I think that every debuff that that can be improved by QD should be indicated as such. (I know there was a chart passed around from the OF, where SE indicated this). If we don't know the exact increase, it can just be described as "Unknown" until we can confirm at a later date. (This could be due to new testing methods, gear or content, etc).

"Gamers" is a term denoting people who's hobby is gaming. Game users is anyone who's every used any video game. Just because you drive a car does not make you an auto hobbyist. Just because you walk to get someplace does not make you a hiker.

It's always meant someone who plays games regularly. verber typically means the same thing with some exceptions for slang. I feel like we should probably call it something else if it's different. At least, maybe not use the on purpose generic term to denote something more specific.

The vast majority of games are bought by men. If every woman right now stopped buying games the industry would lose a lot of money, if every man stopped buying games the entire industry would collapse overnight.

Men dominate employment, but women make up about half of the consumer base. I think the industry would collapse overnight regardless of which half of it's foundation was removed.

We're talking about a specific product "games" here, female gamers are an extreme minority in the industry, though they do exist.

I meant that there are as many female gamers as there are male gamers, nothing to do with the distribution.

Ehh ... not remotely ....

If someone genuinely believes that ... then we can't have a good faith discussion.

33 is great overall, but can be frustrating if you are bad at dodging/parrying. I went with normal mode and still struggle but otherwise really like the combat.

On steam forums that is the general consensus. The devs are actively taking feedback and the biggest requests are about ultra widescreen support / FOV changing and loosening up on the restrictions on the dodge / parry system as they are a tad too tight right now.

They did. It was.

I don't know how old you are but in the '90s news had many stories on how many totally ridiculous things were getting patented.

The blame was placed on people patenting algorithms. This was a brand new and explosively broad field for the PO. Suddenly things long considered unpatentable were getting through.

At the time I was saying Costco should patent its membership store model. They could have gotten away with it.

I recognize that there are differences on these pages and fully admit it's not 100% consistent. Here's why I think they're different:

1.) Dia has light shot listed on it because Dia's primary purpose is to lower defense and it's used on like...95% of encounters in FFXI. People want to know how much it increases the DEF down because most of the nerds on this game obsess over increasing their physical damage and nearly-100% of the content in the game involves doing physical damage. Very few people are obsessed with capping their DOT, so increasing the Poison effect is...less important.

2.) Dia doesn't have a formula because there is no formula for its potency whatsoever. The only way Dia's potency is affected is by enfeebling magic effect (and light shot). You could argue the formula is on there (3+Enfeebling magic effect)

I think it's worthwhile to include the QD effect on all the pages where it could be relevant...but TBH most people aren't going to give a half a ***and the actual increase hasn't been tested for most of them so...it won't really be all that helpful. It's almost like each spell is different and if you wanted them to all consistently show the same information...

I'm not talking about materials but methods.
People HAVE patented methodology.

The patent office got really wonky in the 1990s. People were patenting weird things. Not items, ideas, even common algorithms currently in use, got patented.

Pretty much if you can describe something you can file for a patentent on it and in the '90s they did and got the patents.

The patent office did get better. I think.
I don't think any training methods can be patented, at least it isn't happening. This might just be the nature of the beast, that things are moving faster than even patent pending would be granted but I'm not sure. Either way, thus far, nothing stops everyone stealing everyone's approaches to pre and post training of models. MoE is becoming standard when Mistral were first to demonstrate it, reasoning approaches are standard for all models going forwards, etc.
