I dont know if you misunderstood what I was saying, but the 70% of the playerbase that would be pissed off would be the ones on the 3-5k servers who just got *** over into a 10k server.

I think the claim is that it is randomly assigned to a zone when you open it, so your observation doesn't disprove it.
What would disprove it would be opening the same chest twice in a row, getting 3k the first time and 5k the second time.
I agree with your explanation and everything I've seen over the past month further supports it, that's not what I was implying that I disproved.
There was a different explanation, though, that was posted in the Limbus thread and then again recently in this thread a few posts up that had a different explanation. The claim was that the 5k chest would 'cycle' through each of the four zones before beginning a new, randomly generated cycle. So, assuming you were starting a new cycle and found the 5k chest in North, East, and West, you could be certain that the 5k chest for your next run would be in Central. I'm simply claiming that *this* explanation is not true.
Any time you find a 5k chest, each tower probably has a 25% chance of containing the next 5k chest, instead of being able to narrow down and predict the location based on previous locations.

Here's you playing the idiot. "2.5x" is absolutely meaningless. If you were right you'd have put it through your sim already. In fact I bet you already have and found out I was right.
I calculated it manually. It's pretty simple to calculate averages for this. There is no jump simulation in Kastra sim and I definitely won't make one to prove you anything. I have better things to do :)

P.S. your char name is really ***, please explain why you chose it.
I mean, it's definitely a dumb name, but it's still what everyone knows me by and people have gear signed by me from 15 years ago and it would suck if the character I was playing suddenly had a different name.
It would also suck if I had to explain to everyone I partied with: hey, even though my character name is Hownowbrowncow, this is Maletaru. Then people will keep calling me male, because that's been my name for decades, and other people will be like, who TF is male? Then we have to explain that I'm male, because my character name used to be maletaru. And I'll have screenshots from 18 years ago that show the same character as screenshots I take today, but with a different name. It sucks.
Plus, it's not just about ME. What if someone has a really awesome name, they just managed to get because they started early on, like their own first name, or sephiroth or some ***. Well, that name's getting nuked too.
I play a female tarutaru. 13 year old me thought it was hilarious to see "Maletaru claps her hands" and "Maletaru parries the Huge Spider's attack with her weapon"

I think one of the AI biggest challenges is the old and evil framing.
By framing is that technique developed during the past century and extensively used in the context of narrative wars.
And I think AI is losing against framing.
Why I think that? Well, it is becoming extremelly common someone refering a low quality work as something "AI generated".
Bad code? "This guys code must be AI written". Bad art? "Must be AI generated". Bad text? Bad powerpoint? Bad summary? Etc.
How is it possible to consolidate a tecnology if currently such tecnology is related to the worst quality?
Intentional or not, humans are steadly sabotaging AI by refusing any value generated by it. And not only denying its value, but labeling it with so much prejudice.
I feel like this round of human vs machine, humans have he upperhand.
AI is not generating enough value to bend human skepticism

P.S. your char name is really ***, please explain why you chose it. tbh I'm a huge fan of "character name came directly from character making screen", like, if someone was named Heightslider I'd be like "what a good name"
alt joke: it's Mallet aru. like Gallagher.
alt joke 2: it's french. Mal AY tuh RU.

Cautiously optimistic that they don't forget to do something to make that not awful.
Especially because maintenance kind of happens every four-ish weeks...

Well, that was what I remembered from the Limbus thread, anyway.
Basic conclusion is that the most efficient hunting mechanism is to cycle towers. It would be disproven the first time someone does a full cycle without finding the 5k

What is this, 2018? You wish Square Enix would finally start banning cheaters after all the years these players have spent putting in countless hours, while Square Enix has done nothing about them? Pretty sick if you ask me.

If It haven't happen in the past decade, nothing will happen now.
From what I'm told, Asura barely noticed a difference despite been locked down for almost 5 months.
I haven't heard much from my buddies over on Bahamut (where I used to play before moved to Shiva) other than yell/shouts become more infected with RMT yells other than that its business like usual. I logged in last night on a mule there and it was refreshing to see 1700 people online.

You can grind it all out on the final day before the weekly reset, but I'd personally recommend that you give yourself 2-3 days. The beastmen don't appear in zone immediately after killing the previous wave, and you need to wait for them (sometimes hours). When I unlock Fiat Lux and need to gain influence in the northern zones, I usually get started on Thursday evening, and keep going through Friday-Saturday.

It's purely through Campaign Battles afaik, though doing ops does affect nation and beastman stats so maybe that has an impact. You're "supposed" to influence it by participating in battles, but the actual best way to quickly raise it is to mass murder campaign mobs without getting tags. Is this something that you should be actively be trying to do all week or can you just grind it out on the final day before Conquest Tally reset?

I know there's been some discussion concerning the Limbus chests, and I just wanted to say that I don't believe the theory of the 5k chest cycling between each of the 4 zones before resetting is correct. My most recent Temenos 5k chests have been East, West, East, and East. All four of those have been opened after the most recent server maintenance, but not all within the same week. I know that two of the same chests in a row don't necessarily disprove this theory, but I'm pretty sure the behavior I've observed does.

So what's really your beef with a less invasive measure than full merger? This one?
There are no 2k sized servers anyways. If you merged the two smallest servers, it would become the 4th biggest server.
Basic math
Cerb 2942 + Sylph 3035 = 5977
Asura 12k
Odin 11.9k
Bahamut 11.1k
Sylphberus 6k <-
Phoenix 5.5k That one, but also the one about why/what you like about being on small server. You, personally. You!
And I know you missed it, or chose to ignore it, but Dex laid out that he used small server merging as an example, but his actual want would be some arrangement where they incentivize players to leave the big 3 and migrate to low pop for a few percents of population.
5% from each of the big 3 is like 1800 players moving into the other 13 servers. It's way less extreme than a merger. If they evenly spread out it'd be about 139 players going to each server. The horror! (of course, whatever the incentive is, they may just move to the next biggest server to collect, but whatevs. XIV does this thing a lot with enhanced EXP gains for choosing small servers and other niceties)
I'm on Bahammie nowadays, and even though it's supposed to be crowded, most people dogpile endgame. You only find crowds at Mhaura, Rabao, Limbus, Selbina, Norg, Sparks vendors, Curio moogle zones, Nashmau, Kamihr Drifts Bivouac #4, and the Eastern Adoulin AH. Most people are AFK if not actively in an event, and it doesn't feel any more crowded to me than being on Bismarck, Sylph, or Odin (all servers I have played on in excess of 1 year+ in the past). With the exception of there's way less Japanese than when I was on Odin, and so there's less language barrier issues. And I can't manipulate conquest all by myself (granted the regions I care about manipulating are ones I can't really gain exemplar in so...).
And I, personally, didn't move to a higher pop server for the higher pop. I moved to Bahamut because my brother was playing there (well, is). In the past I only moved off of Asura to Bismarck to be with the girl I liked at the time. Later I moved from Bismarck to Sylph to play with Shadowlina. I moved off of Sylph to Odin to play with my friend from XIV, Vox.
In general, I think most people operate the same way or at least in a similar way. There needs to be a strong social incentive to uproot and move servers, or a strong gameplay one. When server transfers were first introduced they were largely used by endgame shells looking to take the resources they'd gained on higher pop servers, so they could dominate HNM timers on small servers. Hell, even Asura was victim to that, back in 2007 when the HNMLS Twentyfourseven transferred onto Asura from wherever the hell they came from.
Not a lot of folks instantly started transferring servers left and right. The only way to experience another server would be to purchase another character slot, and make one on the different server, and they didn't allow server choice til sometime in the 2010s as far as I recall, meaning you rolled the dice or got someone to golden world pass you to experience other servers.
Which, you know, brings up the fact that your metric for accounts being associated with servers is useless. You can have multiple characters on the same account all be on different servers. Some people do, some people game the different server economies that way, even.
But most folks just like where they landed. They built their relationships/groups/LSes, and if it ain't broke, don't transfer. It has less to do with population size, and more to do with having no real reason to transfer. I'm sure there's plenty of folks on smaller servers who think to themselves, "It would be nice if I could find groups more easily when my group can't be online, but I can be... but it's not worth throwing away what I have here."
So I think it would be more accurate to say that most FFXI players are happy to be where their friends are.

Imagine giving a rats fat *** about your character name
How sad

You realize it's more to do with if someone has your name and your buddies all think it's you like "Hey, K123, wanna go do some Ambu?" but the person who has the name K123 is like "*** you guys. I banged all of your moms" or whatever.
Meanwhile K123 now has to change his name to Icantimgur or something and tell a whole lotta people that K123 isn't actually him

If I were still on a small server, But you're not, so please dont talk about what the experience for people on small servers should be like because you prefer to be on a larger server. People on small servers are getting their preferable experience, evidenced by the fact theyre continuing to pay 12.95 per month subscription fee to FFXI to play on their small server instead of:
a-unsubscribing
b-paying $9 and migrating to a larger server Answer my question.
