So DW5? That's basically 2 more spell slots taken up and 7~8 set points to expend i think, and space is already tight with blu. It's an option i guess though id sooner just have a higher DW set for when MG is down, 26 to cap with DW4 and 30% haste so cape10/suppa5/eabani4/carmine6 or jacket. It's currently all trash down there so you dont need to go all into defensive gear

Yeah while rare, the concept of "all bets are off" style speedruns where hacking the game and etc is absolutely a thing, but usually its just for shits and giggles. You see this sorta stuff in pokemon communities, as an example. I will caveat that the "legit" speedruns are for sure considered to be far more impressive (understandably so, of course)

you got a buddy already to play with, just find more people who don't mind if you play bst or pup. the game is too fast for pet jobs to compete these days, all that JA delay telling the pet to attack and use moves means you will never come close to a real DD. that doesn't mean you can't clear content, nor does it mean you can't have fun on the job. just gotta work a bit harder than your typical naegling WAR, is all.

there are some similarities to speedruns in other games that look nothing like real gameplay because of all the cheats/glitches they use. to me this is the same thing. not at all to be confused with skill at the game played as intended, but a skill of its own nonetheless. there is an audience for this, otherwise GDQs wouldn't exist. quite evidently though, FFXIAH is not the place for it, especially when the guy did try to pretend it was mostly legit at first.

FFXI crafting is a joke. Pays out just often enough to keep the dope flowing, but don't start to look for any reason beyond pure RNG, especially short term. there aren't any.
