A couple people had mentioned this fight on the 'MT recruiting' thread by mrmme, so I thought I'd provide some context for what's been going on.
The bahamut master trial has mechanics that flat out prevent you from being able to clear it without knowing how to deal with them, and no clues whatsoever about how to go about it. We’re talking absolute virtue simultaneous 2hr activation levels of obscure here. Whatever we’re meant to do to deal with the dragons is something nobody’s been able to figure out. And so people just gave up trying. The fights a waste of time.
One really big difference between progression on this fight over August is that, the majority of people who want to progress this fight are still working an another encounter. Oathsworn Blade has blown up so many MT statics at this point that the fight has been out for well over a year and a half, but only has 3 clears that I know of. This wittled down the number of groups even willing to try Wing of War, simply because if they wanted to clear a new MT, it would be August.
And so people just gave up trying. This is certainly true for some groups I've contacted, but not all. The biggest reason this encounter hasn't been cleared yet is because many of the plausible solutions to the Benediction mechanic has gear requirements that were (as best I could tell) impossible to meet upon release. The Limbus updates have sparked up progression between the fore-running groups, and the future updates will no-doubt continue to do so.
Of all the groups I've contacted, each would prefer to keep details about this fight close to the vest, so I can't really go into any more detail.

SE 100% has the ability to nerf NIN tanking if they really want to. You mean when they adjusted enmity loss when absorbing attacks through a shadow and made enemy TP moves take multiple shadows?
Yes, they tried, and the players said "*** you this is a tank job, not a DPS job" and the dev's ultimately caved to it.

Hello to all the Pro dancers.
Looking into top notch Aminion idle sets with and without an 11 roll. Regain vs STP (as STP does convert damage taken into additional TP) & utilization of Regal Gloves without stressing the Pld healer out too much.

When in doubt, SCH solo VD it out. Just Helix dragon and boss, die and abuse DoT on zombie. Almost every month is easy month. Can bascally take 4-5 leeches.
For this month just Hydrohelix Dragon then swap to aurorastorm and Fusion boss really quickly then burst Luminohelix. Then die asap so he doesn't put the regen move up from aura.
Should die after 2 times then can easily kill the rest. About 10-15 min VD solo, trust tank makes it slightly easier and more breathing room.
I believe this is possible, but I haven't been able to do it....so wondering if you have any pointers?
Dragon is easy I can do Distortion > Ebullience > Hydrohelix II for 10-11k and it dies.
I found better success just dying after this and not messing with bruiser, but either way I do aurorastorm II > Fusion > Ebullience >
Luminohelix II and typically hits about 9k-9300ish. if I get naked and cancel buffs sometimes aura still goes up, i think once it didn't and it took it to exactly 50% which I think took a hundred fists to the face before I could get off next burst.
If its sub 9k helix or aura is up more than a couple seconds, I don't think its possible to win this, as you'll be double weak and unable to put an additional helix on it to knock off the last few percent (although with arise you can have helix duration surpass weakness)
So unless I'm missing something (tactic or some gear to get a better helix)
I'm using unranked bunzi's and Ammurapi Shield (I have a +2 neck which seems to be required for this) (would I be better farming a Culminus?)
I can do D without much trouble (the main difference the helix easily takes it past 50%)

Yes you covered the ws buildes with Crocea, these are the pure enspell builds:
Levante dagger with wind element enspell is the best offhand for enspells as long as wind is alright, the wind affinity applies to both hands.
Pukulatmuj +1 with full augment is the next best option for when wind isn't an option.
Archdukes is pretty far behind and its duration just moves you out of sync with temper II for RDM
Where I think Archdukes is interesting is Enlight/Enlight II on PLD where it is an option instead of Brilliance, +60 sec duration vs +15 sec duration and 15 skill. Enlight only has 3 min duration so the added duration is much appreciated but it does lose potency with each hit so the added time may not get you that far and you may prefer the skill for potentially higher potency.

Apparently I recognized it at the time and left this note:
Quote: -- The below values aren't really right
-- They need to be "Ceiling'd" which also isn't quite right because the negative numbers need to be floored.
It has been a long time since I stepped in that stream, but my guess is that I didn't bother fixing it because no one was using this system at the time.

It's not an RDM piece imo. This.
For Crocea Builds offhanding Thibron (if macc allows) or Daybreak (if you need more macc and/or wanna spam Seraph Blade) are better options, imho.
Now if the enspell damage applied to both hands it would be a different story, but it's not and to my knowledge no single weapon boosting enspell damage applies to all hits.
In addition to Crocea and Archduke's sword there's also an Unity sword with augment Enspell damage, forgot the name.
But it's all the same story.
Imho it's a secondary option compared to the main two I mentioned.

The disbelief comes from how much it still costs on the AH. (the sash)
Thorny's list was over 28k items. Evej assuming they're evenly weighted (which i doubt), you'd expect to get 1 every 78.6 years, if you gobbie spin every day. On average.
Sure, there is more than 1 person spinning, but not enough to spawn enough osash to move the needle, clearly. It's probably fewer than 1 per month on small servers, meanwhile several sell a month. Not too surprising.

That's just a bug in the extdata library, then
It dislikes negative augments so it's not a bug, it's a feature!

So, any insight on the Archduke's Sword yet? Specifically, wondering about potential as an /NIN or /DNC offhand to Crocea Mors C for a heavily enspell focused build.
It does have good macc/MAB so it'd be easy to think it can pump up Enspell damage while not gimping, say, your nuking prowess, but the enspell damage only applies to hits from the sword itself, making the added DPS quite meh. At that point you're doing more overall damage by swinging a Demersal Degen +1 and switching weapons for nuking, even with the loss of TP.
The duration makes a max potency Enspell last 24min instead of 18, but... it's entirely marginal and at that duration nobody really cares.
It's not an RDM piece imo. Maybe if you don't have the other options, but none of them (outside Crocea) are hard to get anyway.
It does look very nice tho!

Clueless me wonders how it was possible to obtain such a list. I'd think that the SE servers are not really going to tell anybody freely.
Almost all the data about all the items in the game is stored on your disk, in the DAT files inside the game's folders. We have plenty of tools able to parse those DATs, and that's how we DAT-mine (you might have heard this word before) new items every month as soon as they are added with the monthly patches - oftentimes way before they can be actually obtained ingame, like the Cait Sith Subligar or the Arrapago Ring.
The DATs for items also contain some flags needed for the client to know how to display and treat them - for example the client won't let you put an Ex item into a delivery box, but if the item has both the Ex and CanSendPOL flags and the delivery box is towards a character on your same account, it will let you do it. Same for stuff that is not able to be sold on AH but can be bazaared, etc.
For some reason there's also a flag that says if the item can be gotten from Gobbie Box or not. I truly have no idea what the function of this flag is for the client (maybe someone else does), but it's there and we get to enjoy it, thus we're able to make a complete list of items that the Gobbie Box can give.
Compare:
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Orpheus%27s_Sash
Flags: Obtainable from Goblin Box, Equippable, Rare
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Kraken_Club
Flags: Equippable, Rare
Every month, SE gives us an updated list (or delta) of every item and its' corresponding metadata.
You really need to stop trying to be useful while saying stuff that is patently incorrect. It's really grating, especially paired with the attitude of "how can you not know it!?!?". Sometimes it's a matter of wording, sometimes you just don't know what you're talking about.

Still significantly worse than other options for RDM.

The "right" way to play the game isn't decided by players, it's decided by game designers and math. YouTube Video Placeholder
Saying this on a FFXI based site is *** wild considering the designers never intended for Ninja to be a tank job

Unfortunately, I tossed that earring before I ever did an export but with another one today got this. Your theory is pretty on point Martel, every item I have tracked with +1 and two -1 share the same stat grouping. STR/DEX/VIT/AGI and INT/MND/CHR
right_ear={ name="Attila's Earring", augments={'INT-0.5 MND-0.5 CHR+1','Water resistance+11',}}, Nice to see it confirmed. Thanks for taking the time to do an export for it.
That's just a bug in the extdata library, then Negative attribute augments are.. nearly non existent on more modern gear. I suppose it's not too surprising that this hadn't been found before now.

I thought this was the we finally care enough to beat Bahamut thread
There’s a reason nobody is even bothering with Bahamut and Chaos anymore. The naaks trial had mechanics that were annoying to deal with but the way to handle them was easy enough to figure out. The rest was optimizing the setup enough to get the dps in before time out.
