Exclusive rewards for "The Orb's Radiance". Did they finally decide to add a gear reward for completing Rhapsodies of Vana'diel? lol
That's how I understood the update notes, yeah. They're retroactively adding a reward choice for the final mission of rhapsodies. I imagine it's the standard, "choose your accessory" reward. Since Adoulin and VR were rings, maybe rhapsodies will be earrings again.

It's too bad that I want to post in this thread two times about the right way to use too, to, and two.

Oh here's another one:

If someone doesn't have a basement boss killing group, the Starstones are a real bottleneck to making +3 armor. Change the drop rate from basement Caskets/Coffers, there's really no reason these need to be rarity "R" (5%) drops. Make them Uncommon or Common instead. Or maybe do something like trade 3-5 Sapphires for a Starstone.

People who DO kill the bosses have no real issue with this, it's fairly trivial when you have multiple shots each run at U rarity drops from the basement NMs themselves.

But I don't see how it's fair that someone who solos the 70k galli without being able to solo the basement bosses has to deal with low droprates on the item too. Yeah, you can buy them from Ruspix... for 70k MORE galli, which is insane to require of somebody like the solo player who already had a harder time building that 70k in the first place.
I soloed to get all of my first +3 Empyrean for WAR without any Odyssey gear.

Basically you can focus on basement chests everyday after you get minis done, or just on basement chests entirely.

My chosen basement boxes to do solo were:

F - Empy Armor Bitzer check
F- Kill all pixies
G - 30 second bitzer stare

And if I'd had access I woulda picked up the H one.

Also should note, that once you do get some Odyssey gear, and get into the ML30+ range, it's possible to solo a set of Naakuals in E or F basement. Not easy. But nets 2058 galli and another basement box. Though obviously if you're doing Naaks solo, you're not gonna have time for pixies. Not with all those damn dispels.

In my experience, on WAR, I was able to solo about 7.5~9k galli a day with 2 basement boxes. By the time I had the galli for the upgrade itself, I generally had a starstone. I think I only got stonewalled by needing the Starstone once.

That said, there's really no reason to stonewall progress with the low rates. The pixie killing one especially should earn you a Starstone by default imo haha.

lost my mom this year, too. once your family is gone that's a strange place.
Been 5 and a half years about. Getting hard to remember her voice.

I feel you. It's been six and a half years for me, now. I have a tendency to repress past memories (as a subconscious coping mechanism for anxiety), but I still remember her laugh more than anything.

I just need my dad to hold on, because not having any parents or grandparents left will be really weird given that I'm only about 40.

The lock is just a preemptive move to keep a trend from becoming a problem.
The thing is that, imho, it's already a problem and it's been for a long time. Numbers weren't increasing over the last months, they've been pretty much stable for over one year, to say the least.
With obvious oscilations up and down according to campaigns, content available/released etc.

Quote:
It's not meant to sway RMT, fix the economy or server equilibrium.
That's the exact same reason why the things I mentioned were performed on WoW and FFXIV. Overpopulation.
RMT was if anything a byproduct, not the main goal they were tryin to address.
They simply wanted to reduce population on some overcrowded servers and, at the same time, give some air to breathe to servers which were suffering from the opposite problem.

Quote:
Most modern MMOs already deal with this issue.
Modern MMOs have dynamic locks and lots of technologies that allows people to "share" gameplay across servers, as long as they're within the same server cluster.
It happens in FFXIV and WoW but I assume in other modern MMOs as well.

Only a handful of +3 pieces feel like upgrades. Most of the +2 have like 98% of the stats already so I don't see it making much difference.

Feeling slightly accomplished and big satisfaction :)

Finally got a Dyna-D run where we went all the way to Wave 3 final boss while I was on SAM with my 3-hit Mythic build.

We had two GEOs so got both Frailty and Malaise.

Bards were very kind and gave out Threnody in wave 3.

Mighta been my most satisfying Dyna D run. It was Jeuno, and goblins are squishy because the eyes don't matter for single target too much, but we mostly got Blue eyes anyway.

Spent basically the whole run getting many many 99999 Jinpus. There were plenty that were lower, resists here or there on NMs in Wave 2. Couldn't Jinpu wave 2 boss cause he resists magic (still hit about 18k Jinpu on him inspite of that, switched to Fudo after).

Wave 3 came around, and same deal. And my WS frequency is super legit. Highwind didn't even get to do Shock Spikes :)

Tri-boxing BRD, COR, and WAR in my party stayed late since we were so close to finishing when he needed to go Sortie. Very professional man! (we had a late start cause Jet pulled a Ninja vanish)

Wave 3 boss went well. COR in the first round of adds, and the other SAM with Kusanagi put it on the slab without it getting to Wild Card. Thanks to Hybrids not generating as much enmity I only had to Super Jump once, and High Jump did the trick the rest of the time. We did all the adds and I peeled to help kill them as one is supposed too.

And it was very stable. Very few deaths, if any. I don't recall anyone dying. :)

And I wound up at the top of the parse man's parse. 7 million damage and 621k SC damage attributed to me. :D For the boss alone!

30.7mil for the run entire :D! (not sure what total SC damage was, for some reason, people don't like to nod to it, and the parse man truncates the overall run parse to the highest 6, but I assume with it included I may have been responsible for upwards of 32mil)

It made me very happy. Not just to flex being good damage, but because of some very sentimental reasons. Almost storybook even.

I only decided to make the Kogarasumaru mythic to honor my late mom, cause the one time she asked me anything about FFXI back when I was a teen was when I was on Samurai. So whenever I'm on Samurai I feel like my mom might be watching, even though she's up in the good place now.

When I first started FFXI I had a mentor of sorts who was a black haired Elvaan who named his character Jinpu. It was actually his second character. He was Korean, and I guess he'd lost his original character to a ban for shady business. But he taught me a lot about the game, and I was real young back when XI started, so I looked up to him, even if he was a bit sour/stern/hard *** elite. He helped me break my first ever WSNM for Steel Cyclone.

My current main character's name is Calmwind. He's named for my best friend and 2nd ever PL in FFXI, who was a RDM and a RNG and a PUP. He was in the same group of friends that I met with Jinpu. Kind of had a wind theme going, I suppose. Maybe I should just declare that Vyre means wind (supposedly in that Stormlight Archive a character that has it means, "He who quiets").

Jinpu, of course, is the wind hybrid Great Katana weaponskill. I find it lovely that the Mythic starts with the Windslicer, kind of like a prophecy about which WS is gonna be your best bet in an ideal scenario. Of course, it's a reference to the Kazekiri or Tempest from FFVI, which had a 50% chance to deal wind damage to all enemeis. If you built Cyan's magic stat up, he could dual wield them, and potentially hit all enemies for 9999 with magical wind damage.

Which reminds me of another friend from that same friend group. Elvaan named Droca. He was tsundere, or maybe he just didn't like me for real. I was never sure. He took umbridge with me claiming to be a bigger FFVI fan than him. Maybe he was. He lost one of his hands in a car wreck, but managed to still play FFXI even after. I thought he was cool.

Droca and Jinpu were both SAM mains, and always talking about the different ways to maximize it.

I was never the biggest SAM fan boy, but it's a job that is somehow so full of memories. It was my 4th 75, because of Samurai Champloo and Tachi: Rana looking cool.

I wish it did more for the party, but not every job can be a group buffing kingpin, I suppose.

I'm feeling vindicated and nostalgic, and I miss my mom.

Legitimately curious, because I don't follow MMOs anymore, what other games did this and it was successful?
But WoW did it for the longest time, on main servers and recently even on classic ones.
I happened to be in one of those servers at least twice that I can remember.

The problem SE is trying to address here is server instability due to overpopulation. The lock is just a preemptive move to keep a trend from becoming a problem. It's not meant to sway RMT, fix the economy or server equilibrium. It's meant to keep people from making so many mules and alts that they crash the server and cause outages and service interruptions.

Most modern MMOs already deal with this issue. They know what their critical mass is and they funnel players into login queues as they approach that number. The server transfer policy is more of a courtesy. Something in your pocket if your server ever dies out or becomes so large that you have constant login queues.

Also, other games are not so reliant on other players transferring to stimulate the economy. Only old goons do that ***.

What I am unsure of is whether you get the body unlock if you get the rest of the set with method 2. BGwiki suggests that this is not the case.

Having received the Job shard KI on the 100th kill in the last needed zone for numerous jobs, I'd say it's probably a safe bet that just killing 100 mobs in each zone is sufficient to unlock the body.
By NynJa on 2025-10-28 22:44:04
1-No it wont, though it usually does them back to back to back to back, which will likely kill the trusts at that point, but thats not one shot.
2-If only SE made it so you can get unlock from killing 100 wave 1 fodder. Oh

even a shitty segment run is at least 3 fights worth and a bonus million gil

We clearly have difference experiences in ‘shitty segment runs’ lol. I consider 9k ‘amazing’ segments.

Try 2.4k segs and 300k gil for a ‘bad’ run via PUG. And even then, at least we made it to the end.

The new player/character experience sure is rough. :(

Odyssey needs segment farms for people of a wide variety of skill/gear levels.

Sheol A/B/C should be 2 levels apart.
Sheol D/E/F should be created at item 135/140/145.

I want to actually play with people who have goals/objectives/gear progression/etc

Yall dont comprehend ***. For the 10th time.

A character that existed for 10 hours is not the *** same as a character with MM50.

I went in A to show how hard mobs hit trusts with a brand new character. Just to prove the point. They have too much attack. They hit valaineral kupipi kuro and trion for 800+

A trust tank can't hold 800 damage enmity and kupipi doesn't have enough hp to survive one attack.

Every mob has too much attack. Thats why every single piece of new gear has DT on it. And why trusts are getting overhauled.

How about MM2?

I've never participated in these runs, but I've heard reports of ~50k or so from BLU cleaving. The mobs aren't worth THAT little, you just need to kill shitloads of them to get good value.

You're not gonna do it solo though. And of course, if you raise the mob values by much (nearly anything) then they could easily eclipse the value of bosses, so even a ~25% increase in muffin values (completely irrelevant for a single newb farming 20 accuex) could tip the balance and make doing the bosses pointless (except for earring chances I guess).

The mobs are there to give people something to do with the time they have. They're there to make traversing the zones dangerous (you need to drop invis to hit bitzers, devices, etc.). They're there for the objectives.

Biggest miss in sortie in my opinion is the mobs serve no purpose other then to get in the way I'm not saying that it should be empty halls but realistically they may as well be the trash mobs don't need to give an exorbitant amount of muffins but I don't think it would be unreasonable to make it worthwhile to maybe just go in clear fodder for a reasonable amount of muffins. The event as it stands is hurt badly by an overly large zone with very specific objectives required to "optimize" the time limit you have

I kinda hink the fill of mobs was to make it interesting for people in the beginning to try to figure out how the Sortie system worked. Now that everyone knows, though, most of the mobs are skipped. i wonder if they're just good for casual farming on a night you can't find a group, but some Galli is better than no Galli.
