Taking lots of hits on this lately, the latest (as of this week) is a 35% increase in health insurance premiums, which will bump me to >30k/yr in health insurance costs. It's something new every few weeks...

So, while I certainly appreciate your argument, I think all that is left to do in this game's long life, is to help your friends collect pieces of gear.

No, you really can't relate Felgarr. The bot has spent more time leveling your character in the past several years than you have. You don't belong in any discussion or argument about how it is to earn anything. DQ

If you started now, you'd have 10 REMA just from running ambuscade by 2029. Unfortunately, you probably still won't have a reason to make a prime ><;;

I get this is kind of tongue-in-cheek but...there's no more "reason" to make a Caladbolg than there is "reason" to make a Helheim. You make them because they do a lot of damage.

I find it really strange that in an MMO it's perfectly normal to chase +1 light elemental resistance for your THF idle set on the off chance you're clipped by a stray Diffusion Ray while kiting, but we draw the line at getting another 10% DPS on DRK (made up numbers) because "you don't need it."
I don't think it's normal to chase idle gear. I think it's normal to learn how to kite so you don't have to chase idle gear. I would only suggest to someone that they chase gear that's critical to their role/function.

If a player wants +1 Light Elemental resist to go from 0 to 1/8 (12.5% chance of a resist), I say go for it. But to your point, if someone is sacrificing DT in their idle set or Haste in their TP set, their effort is wasted because they're making a premature optimization. (This happens all the time because it's easy for some players to get overwhelmed by how many variables are at play in a game like FFXI).

I would just make sure their optimizations are appropriate for the situation being discussed. Otherwise, trade-offs and risk assessments exist. SE implemented FAFO before Dark Souls existed as a genre.

So, while I certainly appreciate your argument, I think all that is left to do in this game's long life, is to help your friends collect pieces of gear. Yes, CHASING DPS has been extremely common and is the empirical justification for EVERYTHING in FFXI....and you know what? That *** sucks!

Let's say SE created elemental instances of Limbus/Apollyon (Fire, Ice, Earth, Thunder etc). BUT ...Instead of Elemental Resistance affecting your defensive capabilities, you are able to deal increased damage based on your Elemental+ gear/spells. If you're in a Fire-aligned zone, wear more Fire+ to deal more Damage. If you're in an Earth-aligned zone, wear more Earth+ to deal more Damage. There's a lot of ways SE can do this.

But on the topic of THF wanting +1 Light Elemental resistance, I say go for it, if they're doing fine in their other responsibilities. This game is meant to be entertainment, do what you enjoy. (I think mine is theory-crafting).

Does anyone have any experience with the Ambuscade Great Katana and Samurai's Roll?

I hadn't thought about it, but I assume it still converts the Store TP from the roll into multi-attack?

Anyone know?

Even if I'm "lucky" enough to work from home, it's been incredibly more difficult each day to just get up, go the work computer and start my working day. Yes, if I didn't have the need, I would quit my job this very second and nobody would ever hear from me again.

Oh! And, by the way, I have a really nice job, which is of course not a bad thing but I'm just TIRED of working -at all-!

I'm tired of being an FTE because for some reason management puts more weight in the advice of hired consultants over lead architect employees.
They pay the consultants more. Indeed they have to decide to bring outside consultants in. They are fiscally and emotionally invested in the decision. Perhaps professionally too.

Also, "because then I'd have one and the members of my old static who ghosted wouldn't" is a pretty strong and I feel valid reason to get all the prime weapons.

But it's also the reason I don't expect to make one in the next five years, you don't really solo prime weapons unless your version of "solo" involves puppeteering five additional bodies.

I'm tired of being an FTE because for some reason management puts more weight in the advice of hired consultants over lead architect employees. Getting people to do the right thing is such an uphill battle that needs constantly fought on every project or initiative.

I've been on the consulting side of this several times and it never made sense to me either. It got to the point that we just started scheduling meetings with just the engineers or taking them to lunch so they could tell us everything they knew about that needed fixed or documented. It may sound sleezy, but we were open about it and we'll never replicate years of experience they have with the project. On big projects they almost always know exactly where the issues are, so we can report on them and they end up getting fixed, but no one listened until we put it on a report.

It's really bizarre to me. I hope it's one of those generational things that fades out over time. The security space will always have it to some extent because there is more weight given to outside providers not having a bias, but the end result is often worse because said providers are usually garbage and the employees generally already know what needs to be done but no one bothers to listen.

What's also been mind blowing for me is how you can label yourself a consultant and no one fact checks anything. As a FTE you go through a rigorous interview process, but as a consultant people just assume you know what you are talking about, rarely do you get interrogated about anything. We've white labeled for folks who were absolutely clueless and made some big sales just to contract the work off to others. The first sale we did, I was fully prepared to be grilled on the sales call but it just never happened. Whole model is just...dumb.

The problem with consulting is you are bound to the ups and downs of contracts. Being a FTE provides more consistency, as a consultant when work dries up for whatever reason, you either end up unpaid for a while or laid off, there are a lot of peaks and valleys. If you are self employed, getting paid is a *** nightmare and dealing with health insurance is really painful. People rarely pay their bills on time and you are lucky if they pay them in 6 months with net 30 terms. I'm trying to make a FTE transition for this reason, I just can't handle the stress of dealing with waiting to be paid whenever someone decides to get around to it anymore.

Asura.Saevel said: »
You seriously need to go looking because that's way outside the average for the USA.

Yea, I should include the amount of the deduction when I think about it. I just see the bill and it makes me want to throw up every time, but we do deduct it and I didn't consider that.

We tried to get plans through our business but we're in different states and the cost was much higher, but it is also more flexible when it comes to things like active dates and starting plans. The ACA rules are really strict and the policies, at least in NC, are not very good. I pay $2kish/mo for a 30/60 plan that's 9k/18k OOPM (in/out). We end up out of network a lot due to my sons health problems combined with weirdness in our local hospital chain so we end up paying an *** amount in medical bills every year on top of it. My business partner OTOH pays $4k/mo but pays nothing out of pocket, that's not even an option for us here.

Subsidized plans get greater protection, are cheaper (ofc since they are subsidized), and I gather are better, but we're outside the range that qualifies.

I'm not having fun at all through 3 episodes. It feels like the Yen storyline is the only one with any forward movement. Geralt and Co. are just walking through the woods and Ciri is hanging out with some kids instead of you know, hiding from every single person chasing her.

So far I wouldn't say it's any worse than the third season. That 3rd season was pretty dogturdy.

Only comparing it to the rest of the show, having no book or game knowledge.

I was in Luna's Ongo group.

We spent a lot of time doing 2KI, I think we even tried 3 KI a time or two.

In the end 1KI was much easier, we could spam it a bunch of times in a row and eventually got the point we could repeat the win even with bad auras.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E5hyoflAJE&t=18s

With Ongo I think the only real "you lose" situation is the sub 40% Aura being Magic Acc Down and not getting a 5 or 6 on WC. We've also tried 2 KI's before and it just never worked out well. Ongo isn't really "hard" until the second add / uber regen sub 40% land when you start running short on damage boosting JA's.

Definitely not going to be a good season. They split the main characters up again, so three different storylines. Two of which will probably go absolutely nowhere. Geralt 2.0 is also unremarkable.

Hello again!

Our 9B Static will now be joining the hunt to fill for members like the rest of the server haha. ^^;

Our run times are M - F, 4:30 PM EST/8:30 PM GMT (9:30 PM GMT next week) Entry and are looking to fill 2 Roles;

1) We are currently in need to replace for a permanent role on DNC as our current DNC will now be stepping away from the game for an indeterminate amount of time.

2) We also have a temporary slot/consistent sub (Fill in from now until December 2025 to January 2026) for BRD as our regular static BRD will be back from deployment around that time.

We do retain some job flexibility but prefer to find the aforementioned 2 roles. Always a bonus to score someone with experience, proper gear and routing knowledge but we are open to coaching should the right candidate come up.

Thanks for your time, please leave a response here, through DM's or in game /tell if you're interested and wanting to commit to the schedule mentioned.

Wait wait did we just start off onto "they 'fixed' it, now it sucks" without anybody talking about the Wheel of Time adaptation? Well let me fix that!

diverse casting is cool and all but the two rivers was a goddamn monoculture having trouble with inbreeding, formed from the descendants of one fallen kingdom, this is the one specific situation where your main cast should all look similar (except the main character who is very specifically singled out for looking like an outsider)

did you not even read how the magic system works, at all, no the ancient prophesied destroyer/savior can not possibly be anyone in the group because souls are gendered and magic is tied to that, and there was already a different counterpart in the lore for versions of the story where the genders are reversed

longbow longbow longbow they explicitly describe the region's longbows as being as tall as their wielder, think like english longbow not olympic shortbow

"hey wouldn't it be funny if we killed off this secondary character early" no no it would not people liked these characters and also they influenced so damn many events through the story and now nope let's just forget that and hey also let's steal the thunder from somebody whose whole arc was leading into the very same scene you decided to just hand out willy-nilly

"feckin'" seriously really come on the books took great pains to establish an in-world vocabulary of colorful curses and that's what you decide to go with instead

Kids, never let Amazon adapt something you have fond memories of.
