With the exception of Absolute Virtue, no content was particularly difficult after we figured it out.
I mean, it seems like they've hesitant about pressuring players to do tough fights since the PW debacle. In 2016, when they did decide to return to the idea of "Apex Encounters", they explicitly decided to give them cosmetic rewards only. As best I can tell, the game has had difficult encounters, but not many people want to clear for a cosmetic. And as easy(?) as the V25s were, it was difficult enough to cause a fair share of rage-quits.
This is just my limited new(ish) player's perspective. Could be wrong.
You're not wrong. I was simplifying matters in order to say that the game's difficulty has been a fairly static variable. Once you know how to overcome an encounter, unless you're relying on RNG, you can do it 100% of the time due to the lack of mechanical requirements in the game. It doesn't require lighting fast response times or brilliant reads in order to win. The closest it ever came to being a mechanically difficult game was when attacks/abilities were churned out at a much slower pace, and you had to proactively predict, account for timing, and manage input/server lag. Even then you only had to be dialed in for solo and low-man attempts.
I've been playing since release (with a couple notable breaks), and we've always had rage quits (of course!). Most of the time they have been due bad drop luck, a lack of patience, a lack of game knowledge, or a lack of a competent/dedicated group. Some of the V25 stuff requires at least a couple of those components, so it totally makes sense that people rage quit over it.
As somebody who used to be one of the "elite snob" players that a certain poster here is aspiring to become, I just wanted to weigh in on the convo. I'm having a lot of fun with the game these days, and I don't find it any more or less difficult than it used to be. (I will say SE has eliminated a LOT of the grind, however.)

Also, if anyone cares the messages can end with different punctuation. I have no idea what they mean unfortunately:
Code
116 You feel like there's an impossible to gauge thud left to be made!
311 You feel like there's an impossible to gauge thud left to be made.
322 You feel like there's an impossible to gauge thud left to be made...?
381 You feel like there's a huge sound left to be made...?
507 You feel like there's a huge sound left to be made!
621 You feel like there's a huge sound left to be made.

Thanks for reconfirming. Pre-patch, I thought I recalled seeing hits go from ~1k to 500s after stacking pure DT vs PDT/MDT specifically. But maybe I'm mistaken.
Hope they take another look at this, or at least confirm if this is working as intended.
On another note, have you guys seen BST or PUP actually summon their pets? I know SMN periodically calls them (unsure on conditions), but I have yet to see an Automaton or BST pet.

PDT/DT does *** all. No visible difference in dmg between burtgang or not. Further, taking a hit naked only increased dmg by a sub 100 value. If DT had been working it should have doubled, at least(not to mention the DEF/VIT changes from stripping all gear)
- DEF is weirdly ineffective. Being Aegis Schism'd down to 500~ def(from 2,300+), made no notable difference. There might have been a change, but if so it was sub 100 dmg.
Counterstance tanking is back in i see

Alternative thought to the 0/1. Maybe instead of getting the ???, its finding the mob that IS ITG instead.

I usually agree with you on just about everything, but be real here. It was mentioned in one month's version update 3 years ago and it's not commonly discussed. I think there are probably quite a few people who weren't aware it was possible, so the thread could be extremely helpful.

because SE didn't implement the Blue mage / automaton spell sets that they announced on 1/1/2025 ...but I think what we got in Limbus and content in 2025 is much better (at least so far)
Wasn't that still on the roadmap as of last freshly picked or did they completely drop it? I thought it was still in the works.
Still wish they'd rework the jug system for BST...

Let's all chill out, and take this to PMs or somewhere else. Dev Tracker discussion has had enough of it, me thinks.

Does it though? Compared to Ashera:
Acc-3, atk-3, STP-2, DT-1 (in the new body's favor), Meva+4, MDB+2, Resist Paralyze-90, and...crit rate?
I don't think if I had the new body, I would actually wear it, even if it were 100% free. I mean, maybe I would...but I don't think I would.
I guess if you don't have Ashera it's nice, but in terms of "all available options", I think the body is very meh (pending augs).
Eh? The new body only drops STP by 2 and the resist para the rest the other body is well ahead even acc/att when accounting for the STR and DEX increase.

I'm 0/Don't Ask on Gin, but if they made Omen bodies part of a Magian thing where you had to trade scales with the corresponding body to +1 it, well.....

Chi Blast/Ageha on everything except Thunder Gartell
Ageha shouldn't work on D/H unless it's in right mode afaik.

Thank you very much, sorry again do you have mnk sets.
Any particular gear needed for other jobs and do you split for shards/ any specific metal needed. We don't bother splitting up for objectives. Mainly since I tri-box the SAM, BRD and COR and I don't have the ability to handle sending all my characters out to do different things simultaneously.
I don't really know if there's "particular gear" required that I can think of unless you count Godhands, S3+ Kusanagi, Idris, and S3+ Loughnashade which of course are all good to have.

sorry if i missed it ~ any other finding here or can anyone confirm?
Apollyon:
x/150 Chests Opened
x/13 NMs Killed
x/1 ??? Found
x/100 Mob Type ???
x/100 Mob Type ???
x/100 Shadow Dragons Killed
Temenos:
x/150 Chests Opened
x/13 NMs Killed
x/1 ??? Found ... this is going to be hard
X/300 Unseelies (confirm?) Killed
The enemy types are chosen randomly and are not consistent across servers, so this question can't be answered.

Could you post a rough strategie for the other 8 bosses, like do you kite, just mnk x% of time etc?
Would realy be interested in attemping this starting wiht 6-8 bosses 1st Open all bosses with Dia III/Light Shot. Chi Blast/Ageha on everything except Thunder Gartell. March/Madrigal/Minuet/Aria for your general songs. RDM should be MLv10+ for Curaga III access. MLv30+ for Auspice is optional but helpful. GEO Fury Frailty on everything except F boss.
E: All on it. Sulpor Valiance.
SAM Jinpu, MNK Tornado, COR Savage, BRD Ruthless or Savage, GEO Judgment or Black Halo.
F: Do after H so you have SV songs. Bolster Barrier, Frailty, Entrust Fury.
All on it. Gelus or Tellus Valiance depending on mode.
SAM Mumei, MNK Tornado, COR Savage, BRD Rudra or Savage, GEO Judgment or Black Halo.
G: All on it. Lux Valiance. Frazzle.
SAM Kagero or Koki, MNK Tornado, COR Savage, BRD Ruthless or Savage, GEO Judgment or Black Halo.
H: SAM and MNK on it only. SV March/Madrigal/Minuetx2/Aria. Do F after to get both in with SV songs.
SAM Mumei/Fudo, MNK Tornado/Raging.

For Apollyon on Ragnarok, it seems like Objective 4 is Undead kills, and Objective 5 is Demons.
For Temenos, the objective seems to be Elementals, not just pixies.

I'm assuming we still have no idea how to reliably get the ??? in temenos, correct?
I think we do its just more of a pain in Temenos.
Its a random mob type, that must be killed over and over until the NM pops and the NM drops the ???. Plenty of reports of NMs being killed but not dropping the ???.
In Temenos everyone focuses on the quick easier mobs near the port which leaves entire types of mobs neglected more often that Apollyon.

FWIW WS range is always 1 yalm longer than Melee range on the same mob so you can park your butt at 5.1' or whatever and get the "out of range" message when you try to autoattack but your WS macro still goes off just fine.
You won't know the exact distance without an addon, but you can still creep forward until the WS macro successfully goes off full vanilla! I'm aware, but the SAM is outputting a lot of damage and often taking hate from the MNK from 100%>30% or so, so they can't stay out of range since they'll often be Aminon's target.

Sorry to let you down, I've only been subbed about 30% of the months since 2011. Not even half of the last 12 months. I'm happy for anyone that finds intellectual stimulation, challenge, and life fulfillment in easy, repetitive content but personally not for me. I enjoyed playing FF3 3D remake more than ffxi for years. You really seem to hate this game, and it makes you act like a reprehensible person in forums. That's a pretty difficult platform to stand on while questioning other (ostensibly more stable) people's choices of what to do with their time. If you enjoy the game, play it. If you don't enjoy it, belligerently attacking strangers on the internet probably isn't the best expression of your dissatisfaction. (To be clear, I'm not attacking you. I can see this causes you pain and I truly hope you feel ok. Drowning in anger feels like ***; I know firsthand.) Nice sock account and I appreciate that you're so interested and passionate about my life that you're willing to play pseudo psychologist and write me an essay.
I don't hate the game, it was great, it's just sad how less and challenging and more repetitive it is getting. What offends my intelligence is the people in denial, people happily wasting their lives and so deluded and duped by SE they think they're "good at ffxi". Be my guest to waste your lives. I don't think you'll be wishing you made more primes when on your deathbeds though. Obviously if you've known nothing else since the age of 13 your life is *** though.
Making primes is a waste of time, but having over 3,000 posts in 2 years on a forum dedicated to a game one admittedly has played <30% of the time since 2011 is a great use of time, supposedly
