To say NO ONE ever read a cutscene once is a bit hyperbolic... Generally only mash thru them if I've already done them before

I'll just make a quick generic response to all that. I've hit my out of pocket max several times, never once have I been able to write any of it off. I've been doing itemized forms for 25 years. You can decide if my coverage is that good or I just make too much money, but all that "feels" irrelevant to me. (i am sure it affects people, it just has not affected me) I've never once (again) in 25 years been asked about preexisting conditions in employer plans.
THe people I know who have to do more personalized shopping largely prefer pre-ACA. I mean "do this, everything will be worse" is typically a bad selling point.
Insurance companies (and/or providers) still find ways to deny coverage or make you fight for it, my insurance company for a period of time had no in-network anesthesiologists in my entire state. So every bill was a fight.
Its just naive to think people won't game a system and the more complex the system the easier it is to find unscrupulous ways to do things. Spaghetti legislation is just as bad as spaghetti code.

I mean are you really in your early 20s as an FFXI player? Pretty much everyone here is 40 +/- a few years. Advice on career would be very different if 22+/-2 years, or 30 or 40 years old. I don't care if you're 22 or 23, that's missing the point.
"All information relevant" wouldn't be all info if you're older. For all we know you could be saying you've just gone and got x degree but there could be ten years before that which might be relevant to advising you.
I’m in my 20s

Have you been to any job fairs?
Talk to as many people as possible, try as many different things as possible, apply for as many jobs as possible. People I know that recruit will make note of anyone they talked to they liked at these sort of events.
Its definitely a numbers game.
I'm sure it might vary a bit depending on field/industry (and college vs. experienced) but last time I looked for a job I think I put out 50-100 resumes/applications (I don't remember) I got call backs on about 10-20% of those, i turned about half those into phone interviews and most of those into in person interviews and most of those into job offers. (and could have maybe done a bit better with the last couple but timing plays a role and you bow out or waiting for a company to full approve something or w/e)
If you know anyone who does something interesting (small business or w/e) poke your head in (ie ask them questions) invent a job. Data analytics is pretty broad in its applications show someone that you can be useful to them.

The clearance is nice and all but defense contracting is not a very reliable long term career path due to how contracts are bid on and managed.
I started to get into this but it's worth expanding on IMO given his previous posts.
As a gov't contractor, like stated here, you are at the will of the contract. If your contract gets lost, then you pretty much just get laid off. I have a friend dealing with this now. It's entirely out of your control and usually comes down to budget. If there is a gov't shutdown and you are deemed non-essential, enjoy that unpaid vacation. You are also enslaved to a timecards, some people play this a little looser than others but I was hyper anxious about it because they put the fear of death into us about it, so I clocked out when I went to the bathroom or took a 15min break. Not everyone does this but still, you will need to account for every hour you work and that can be taxing at times with little flexibility. You will also be limited on remote work.
There also isn't a lot of vertical growth. If you enjoy what you do and are ok doing it for 30 years or until you retire, then it's not a bad option. You might get promoted to a tech lead position or something but you won't see a lot of upward growth as an engineer, which is what some want and some don't. If you love your work and are ok with the environment, then you can do it forever and not worry about being forcibly moved up. There is a lot of lateral movement available, though, especially with cleared jobs. You can change jobs pretty easy and often, a lot of gov't contractors don't stick around long and positions are open in a lot of places. Just don't expect huge jumps in pay or role.
I worked for one of the few that was actually good to work for. When the gov't shut down the PMs worked hard to get us work that paid us. When a contract was lost, they didn't just straight up fire everyone, they moved them onto other programs unless they sucked. They went to lengths to make it a stable, comfortable, productive environment, but it's a rarity and even they aren't like that anymore. I loved my time there and am grateful for everyone I worked with, but it was time for me to move on and I'm not sure I'd go back to it.
After doing defense contracting for about eight years I ended up going private for a better position and job growth. That eventually resulted in much better pay. It was a pretty risky thing to do cause it resulted in my clearance expiring, but overall I'm in a better place now.

Is it worth applying with cover letters? Doesn't seem to be making a difference at least as of yet lol.
No, not really, because they will be discarded. Resume's are now all scanned through OCR to do keyword analysis and score the resumes "strength", those with the highest scores are placed on top for HR to review. HR has even started using "AI" to try to grade your resume, with spectacularly bad results. People have countered by placing prompt instructions at the bottom of the resume in white characters.
There was another thread I gave advice on how to construct a resume that will pass that OCR stuff, it's about using action verb statements near the highlight how applicable you are to that position. Make sure those statements use the same terms as the the job posted as for qualifications.

Correct. RDM doesnt have so much TA that the DA becomes useless, but there's better raw TP earrings like sherida or the limbus ear if you can manage to max it out, or crep, dedition etc since STP wont get devalued as much imo

I've been pondering on TP set for that same reason.
But being that in the Multiattack order DA comes after TA, wouldn't that mean that DA would happen only if TA doesn't?
This diminishes the "power" of DA, but it doesn't hurt TA because it gets calculated after, right?

I have a general Gearswap question. If I have a working mid-shot set up in GS, can I just set the pre-shot with the in game macro?
I'm not the best with coding and there's some type of error with my pre-shot set in GS.
Make 2 idle sets, one normal and the other with your preshot gear. If you reload your GS and toggle to the preshot idle set, you should be able to simulate a normal shot as long as you are outside of melee range. You just need to be aware to manually switch to your normal idle gear when damage is incoming.
Ideally you could find and fix the error, but this could probably work if you wanted a workaround in the meantime.

Did they change something? I missed the last run, but prior to the last time they had this one, I don't recall ever doing TP drain. It made it safer but wasn't necessary. Is that necessary for some reason w/ the SB capped MNK strat?

a lot of stuff about HSAs (saved for space)
I've been doing all that since 2004ish (I think the 2nd year my employer offered), I googled looks like the original legislation was 2003. (i think this is less than a decade since ACA, but still long before it - and unrelated).
I'm a fan of HSAs, the only difference noted about HSAs pre/post ACA is how much expensive they are after (and having more difficulty with coverage).
ACA may have changed stuff with HSA but it did not invent them.
ACA saved me from a lot of financial issues. I had a TBI due to a cycling accident that involved a bunch of head/facial trauma and the hospital network locally at the time was disputing rates with our insurance provider, so they were out of network for several months, part of which I was in the hospital. The ACA provision requiring all emergency care to be in network saved me a lot of money based on the claims I saw (think ambulance ride, neurosurgery consults, trauma ward, ICU, etc level care), which otherwise would've been out of network.
If you asked me in a vacuum if someone should have to pay out of network for a provider they did not have a choice in choosing I would say "no", but if you're going to overhall healthcare in that manner I'd make a stronger argument for why having "in network" at all, and why can providers change their networks on a whim, but the consumers are forced to make their decisions in a 10 day window (starts today for me!) in the year prior. its all dumb, anything that requires sufficient squinting to justify it should a priori be considered garbage. So "nothing" is certainly probably wrong (and it doesn't mean it hasn't helped any body) but medical care still outpaces the CPI and there's not a lot of evidence the rate at which it does has improved since the ACA.

I've been wondering, since people are using SMN and Mewling Lullaby to help control TP gain, how well would GEO/DRK work with Absorb TP? Would that work too with a good Dark Magic set?

Just go test it and see if it works. AFAIK, in-game macros can conflict with GS commands, so you'll need to check for yourself if you can pre(vanilla) and mid(GS). //showswaps and //debugmode to check.
Easy check is to use equipviewer, make your preshot set naked, then go fire a ranged attack. Check icons to see if your midshot equips. Debug Mode will tell you if there's something wrong.

Cutscene (AND!) game day wait elimination would be huge.
No one ever watched them. No one ever read that ***. We all smashed enter or started using fastcs and enternity as soon as we learned about them.
Some of that ***is entirely way too god damn long. Summarize. For christs sake.
I mean, I'm a huge fan of the story, read every bit of it twice. And as best I can tell, most new people who stick around for a bit do so for the story. But I do agree, there should be an option to skip it.

Sure, obviously I didn't mean /RDM for the Odyssey NM fights- maybe something like the Ultima/Omega MT or any other content where TP draining is important. I mentioned making a spellset for Mboze because /RDM wasn't an option.
As for the FC trait, BLU has that weird Tier 0 FC thing going for it (unless BG Wiki's wrong). So, Erratic Flutter would only get you FC II, you'd need a couple more spells set to hit FC III.
Ah yeah I see, never really looked at the FC trait tiers for a very long time. Had to do a little digging for the testing looks like it got nerfed in the may 2011 update. So it was 10% then got lowered to 5%.
