I think the jobs grouping for these sets was exactly that though: Ark angels jobs.
Of course there's way more jobs than the AA jobs so they had to be creative but the base, the core from which they started is exactly that, the jobs of the AAs.

5 Sets, 5 AAs, each AA has (at least?) 2 jobs. That's the base. Then the new jobs were put in there the best that they could.

To be fair overall I think it works and it's a peculiar, original, different from most sets groupings. Personally I like it and I'm happy with it.
But at the same time it's a shame jobs like GEO cannot benefit from the Sworn set which would've frankly been a very welcome addition to the extremely limited options GEOs get for DDing.

Using the same example for the Odyssey sets. Agwu was the "magic damage/burst" set and Bunzi was the "healers" set.
SCH and RDM fit both those roles so it was quite a shame they weren't on both sets. It's not the end of the world of course but personally it left a very sour taste in my mouth.

One thing they haven't been doing the last few years and that imho they SHOULD have done, is putting some jobs on multiple sets.
I've said the same about Bunzi and Agwu, RDM and SCH should've been on both sets, not just one.
They could also simply make another set that fit a jobs needs better than the existing ones which would be easier on inventory.

I'm not deep into the lore but afaik ark angels are sky territory, not sea. I don't see the need to restrict yourself to the ark angels and therefor limit the amount of sets.

SE is completely contempt with ultima/omega/whatever 100% clipping thru walls now. Either way, they clearly don't care anymore so I don't buy the whole lore accuracy because of immersion anyway.

the Judge gear is pretty bad by today's ilvl standards

Word of former GMs is that each piece has some sort of hidden effect. Like the cape would give you a permanent brew effect while equipped, the sword has 100% endeath, etc.

But they're also GMs and have access to plenty of debug commands, they don't need to rely on gear.

I really like this, I used to be fascinated by GMs when I was younger, the "in-universe" part of them being these shadowy arbiters of the world's strongest, keeping them in check when nobody else could, was cool as heck to me, and I consumed any and all information I could find about them, had never heard their gear had hidden effects! Really wish there was more info out there about what GM characters are capable of.

Back on the topic, a guy did manage to record a couple of the GMs absolutely curb-stomping Omega, but there's not much to really see, they rock up, flap around a bit (clearly struggling with having flee speed active in combat lol) and it immediately dies.

GMs appear around 10:56 in the video, which won't embed for some reason, probably because it's a VOD or something.

Title 1051:

Only things left are:
- Besieged Loss Titles x3
- Master Trial x2
- Ballista x26

The only things left that I can think of:

Chocobo Racing:
Moved to Windurst for Chocobo Racing in case you need to win in every nation.

Campaign Ops:
11 Campaign Ops left but impossible on Asura and will need to server transfer to do but one-way trip currently so not going to do that.

Incursion:
KI is at 127 currently, can slowly bump that up.

Odyssey:
MM is now at 41/45. Finishing off the last few NMs I need clears of then comes the very dull Aurum Coffer farming. B/C done, just A remains.

Other than those though, I'm not sure what else is left to do in the game.

As I wrote in the other thread, the only time I saw a GM kill stuff, that I can remember, was when LSs were using bad strats against each other at Tiamat, until cross-calling them a GM finally appeared, claimed Tiamat and slowly, slowly, slowly killed it.

Now... it could've been a noob GM who didn't know how to use the GM menu, or maybe he just wanted to put out a show for all of us there standing and watching, I dunno of course but it was a sloooooow kill.

any thoughts on SCH vs RDM in that setup you posted?

The question is too vague. Elaborate on what fight you're planning this for. Because again, it's still not clear to me what SCH is there for (skillchains extending, magic bursts, or just healing support). There's very little to heal in this setup.
Yeah! Put a SAM there instead of the SCH!
Shoot those arrows Mr. SAM!

Gms have access to the "JP onry" button.
By Akumasama on 2026-01-30 02:47:43
Using Shetal Stone + Suppa would allow you to skip DW on cape to use Null cape.
But frankly I'm unconvinced it would be a DPS increase.
There's also Bunzi R30 for head btw, not sure how it compares, they're probably pretty close.

Personally I'd be leaning to Sworn, but if you already have Bunzi R30 then Sworn Crown would be the last piece of the set for me, in terms of priority.

Just getting started on my Sortie journey, so please forgive this question - couldn't find an answer searching this thread.

Do flan's synergasm/hp-equalizer move drain HP from botulus and if so, does it count for coffer if they're behind when they do it?

I've been doing ABCD objectives, A boss, EFGH basement coffers if there's time... and today I happened to agro botulus while killing flan. After killing the 2 flan I had, I switched to botulus and it was already at 60% and that seems a bit steep for counter damage (since I was on mnk). Is this a thing? I've heard of folks aoe'ing the flan down all together, but never using flan to quickly drain botulus. What's the scoop?

I looked at Clemency/Grace/Mercy set again and realised I made a mistake when saying it has Quad attack, as it only applies to the pet

The QA is not for the pet, it's for the master.

Something else I noticed was the Indomitable legs has Avatar's Favor +1, which allows it to reach another tier. The set looks as if it was only made with Summoner in mind.

This has been talked about to death in the SMN threads, the consensus being that avatar's favor tier doesn't reduce BP timer, so it's not particularly impressive, though maybe not useless. The other pieces are somewhere between marginal increase to totally useless for SMN. Hands seem the most promising, IIRC. If they made it to focus on SMN, they *** up.

If you find a good deal on a normal quality, id say go for it if you can spare the gil.
I don't know, imho they shouldn't have taken the cursed gear path with ex result. If you could have resold lower quality tiers after transfer it would have ensured NQ and HQ1 pricing to stay pretty low.

Apples to oranges analogy. You assume everyone who has Ampulla paid 170M (or whatever) for it and then whatever it is to use/play each time. It comes from Trove (or Gobbie Box), maybe it was free.

Opportunity cost is a thing though, so philosophically I don't agree with "getting an Ampulla for free." You chose not to sell it, thereby foregoing 170m, so it cost you 170m whether you like it or not.

It's still an insanely valuable item and provides a boost unlike basically (literally?) any item in the game, so I don't think the price tag (or the gil you throw) is unjustified, but I don't agree that it's a "free" item.

If you get a KC from Up In Arms and then don't sell it, you got a "free" KC also, but you also are essentially "paying" 1b gil to keep it, the 1b you could have if you sold it instead of holding it.

You lose the artifact armor titles when you reset the quests so it wouldn't surprise me if you lose the shield title.

Just to confirm, is 71 subcrafts good enough for HQ2 or is 72 required? Asking because the idea of farming more crafting torques after a day in the boyahada tree with nothing to show for it is gonna bring me to tears.

The other thread mentions 71 but I've seen people recommend torques, not sure why.

Rather slow grind up guild points for their +1 items if 71 is good enough.

Did you read the post above?

If 200k gil for an increase is a bad investment (subjective opinion), then so is HQ gear with literally +1 stat. HQ necks, food, cheer effects, REMA/Primes (dealing 99k vs 90k w/e), Master Level 50, Balder Earring +1/Skryrim Cord +1, etc.
Horrible strawman, horrible.
If you bought your HQ gear for one event, you can use it for all of those other events at no cost until it gets outdated, or SE adds some augment (UNM gear)

After the 170 mil investment on HoxPulla, it becomes pay-per-use

How can I can I use a macroable, sendable, or windows command to lot an item. Abyssea pop items are rare, so treasury doesnt work well if I want a single, varying character to lot something.

When you map out BIS (Best In Slot), you consider all options. I still remember when Nyame came out, some people raged that Path B WSD was unreasonable to include in gear sets because not many people could obtain the Bumba V15 clear. It was a silly suggestion, since people DO indeed want to see the best possible damage or speed-to-tp set possible, whether they can obtain it at the moment or not. It's a future goal anyways, but it's also just good for people to see the improvement in damage straight up.

Hoxne Ampulla is buyable (9 in stock right now on Asura, last few sold 170m), so it's accessible to a lot of players far more than Nyame gear ever was. Don't people still care about BIS? I would think so. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't include it in TP sets now, since it's a huge DPS increase for every job that can make use of it without conflicts with ranged/ammo slot.

Cerberus.Shadowmeld said: »
Edit: Am I just that stingy?

Stingy how? Gil is virtual currency, it's not real or used for anything if its sitting on your character doing nothing with it. If you bought a piece of gear that improved your damage, you would pay gil for it in exchange for numbers. How is paying-per-use for the same exchange any different? You're paying as you go, instead of all at once up front (plus you can choose when to use it, so it's actually a more efficient use of your gil).

I do spend money, but I also don't earn oodles of gil. I can't ever imagine myself using Hoxne just because gil has always been something I've struggled to earn over the years. Sure it's virtual currency, but I'd much rather save gil for equipment or other things than just spend it blindly not seeing how much it's taking from me every time I use it. I feel like I'd end up sooner or later stuck somewhere because I don't even have gil to HP warp or something (I know this is irrational, but it's me).

Not saying this is you or anything, but sometimes I feel like people are either sitting on multiple KClubs to sell or to them buying gil is so trivial that it doesn't mean anything to them. That isn't me.

is there literally ANY real use for having the BLM/SCH/SMN set? Maybe one piece of it is BiS for SMN but without any Magic Burst on any of it, does it have any use on BLM or SCH?

It's a marginal upgrade for free nukes, but that's it. No one free nukes things so this set currently has 0 value in the game.

Or is it best to save materials for the HQ+2s?
This is not a thing
you can turn in the NQ piece and the +1/2 piece and have your rank transfer over

I mean, you are actually spending an extra jewel uncursing the NQ/+1 piece, so you are saving those materials. Maybe you also spend another gem transferring the augments as well? IDK, I'm not a poor.

Fenrir is best boi and you'd be upset either if they locked you down in a well to turn your energy into mana to use in their city

I don't know why, but this kinda reminds me that Bahamut (seemed to have) reverted to his original animal form while he and Selh'teus were stuck in Al'Taieu. I don't know what animal he was before being Bahamut, but the idea of Bahamut as a random lizard, stuck in an an Al'Taieu terrarium is kinda funny.

Legitimate question, does the game ever tell us where the Star of Tavnazia came from? IIRC, it's a piece of Emptiness magicite that was found in the Baptismal Box in the northlands. But do we know anything else about it?
Iirc, Prishe refers to it as being partially responsible for what lead The Shadowlord to Odin. And Shikaree Z knows it's what drove The Northlands Expedition to insanity.

I don't think there's an exact origin given to it in game, but if I had to hazard a guess, I'd imagine that it is magicite born from when the Kuluu destroyed The Ark of Vahzl, after all, all other magicite shown in game forms in the pools beneath fractured pipes of The Crystal Line.

So an entire Ark blown to kingdom come. Whatever remained of the energy it was funneling, soaked in that viscous black ooze, that tar of the mother crystals... That coalesced into the black magicite that is The Star of Tavnazia.

I'm interested in how the GMs will do it, since from my limited understanding, the Judge gear is pretty bad by today's ilvl standards. I guess they'll use some kind of kill command or else the GMs have access to unlimited HP like Yoshi-P does in his showcase videos for FFXIV content? Or are we going to see these Balmung's of the Azure Sky get equipped with some new hardware for this task?

so who's going to drop their shields and make all the shields to see if they can reach mastery 10 from all the shield titles? lol
