Donald Trump Campaign Offered Actors $50 to Cheer for Him at Presidential Announcement
The Hollywood Reporter
[quoteDonald Trump's big presidential announcement Tuesday was made a little bigger with help from paid actors — at $50 a pop.
New York-based Extra Mile Casting sent an email last Friday to its client list of background actors, seeking extras to beef up attendance at Trump's event.
"We are looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement," reads the June 12 email, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. "We understand this is not a traditional 'background job,' but we believe acting comes in all forms and this is inclusive of that school of thought." (Read the full email at the bottom of the post.)

The pay was listed as $50 for less than three hours of work. According to the email, Extra Mile was reaching out to potential extras in partnership with Gotham Government Relations and Communications, a New York-Based political consulting group that has worked with Trump in the past. Gotham GR had no comment.
Questions as to whether the Trump campaign had hired extras were first raised Wednesday by anti-Trump activist Angelo Carusone, who came across an Instagram photo showing a man he recognized as a background actor posing at the Trump event. Carusone screengrabbed the photo of the actor, Domenico Del Giacco, and published it in a blog post. The photo shows Del Giacco with a woman, identified in the now-deleted Instagram post as actress Courtney Klotz. (Del Giacco has since deleted his entire Instagram account.)
When reached for comment about the Trump casting call, a person who answered the phone at Extra Mile said, "We don't know anything about that." When pressed about whether this response was a denial of the story, the person said she couldn't comment further and hung up. Additional calls to Extra Mile went unanswered.
Asked if Trump paid anyone to attend the event, campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said "no," and that he had never heard of Extra Mile or Gotham GR.
"Mr. Trump draws record crowds at almost every venue at which he is a featured speaker," Lewandowski told The Hollywood Reporter. "The crowds are large, often record-setting and enthusiastic, often with standing ovations. Mr. Trump's message is, 'Make America great again.' "[/quote]

Even if he didn't pay people to be there, he should say he did. That's job creation right there!

Lets make America great again, with less regulation so we can go all tyranny and feudalism, like the good ole days.

I'll have to double check the history books, but America was never a tyrannical feudalistic state.

History doesn't start from the moment america was founded.
Its history as a state does. You know, by definition.

Why are you all going back that far?
The age of robber barons and unchecked capitalism (in 'Murica) was around ~110 years ago. It's the reason the big bad gummint had to get involved and put some standards in place. You know to avoid the inevitable child labor, unsafe working conditions, employers sending goon squads to break up protests and every other flavor of delicious tyranny.
Governments aren't the only entities that will ruthlessly abuse power yaknow.

Always fighting against the extremes, aren't you? I can do that too. Hey guys, the government did something good in the way of business regulation over a century ago! That's proof that they deserve absolute, unchecked power today! Evil big bidness is going to destroy us all!

Except it isn't an extreme. Corporate power and government have merged and it's something (the one thing) both sides of the aisle can agree on.

Worst decision America ever made.
I could be rich right now churning out Bud Light in my basement to thirsty speakeasies. Now thanks to government, I'm stuck making hipster beer no one wants to drink because it's skunked and ***.
Thanks America. Thanks Obama. Thanks capitalism.

"We make some very good whiskey in China" he said looking at the bottle, "unfortunately this isn't one of them."
In a country that big they kinda have to make some good beer and some that is even worse than Bud Light or Coors. Law of averages.

Oh **** Republican strategists are taking Trump seriously!
In Trump Candidacy, GOP Strategists See a Wild Card
The Wall Street journal
With commentary by yours truly in [].
Quote: Republican strategists are viewing Donald Trump’s presidential campaign warily, worried that his harsh critique of other GOP candidates and inflammatory comments on immigration and other matters could damage the party.
The concern is that Mr. Trump, by appearing alongside the Republican presidential field, could undermine candidates who are likelier to win the nomination or leave voters with the impression that the party is crass or racially insensitive. [It kinda is.]
In announcing his candidacy on Tuesday, Mr. Trump called Mexican immigrants criminals and “rapists” and questioned the intelligence of GOP candidates Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio. “They don’t have a clue. They can’t lead us,” he said.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Trump said he was bringing serious issues to the national stage, particularly about trade, where he says the U.S. is a poor negotiator of deals. “I add a lot,” Mr. Trump said. “I am an extreme business person. I’ve had tremendous success.” [Like your Atlantic city casino?]
GOP strategists say Mr. Trump, a real-estate developer and reality-TV star with a proven ability to draw an audience, is unlikely to win the nomination and is unconstrained by the prospect of leading the party or governing.
“Trump operates under no real set of political rules," said Tom Rath, a former New Hampshire state attorney general and state strategist for Mitt Romney’s presidential campaigns. “It really does not matter what party leaders want; he will do what he wants."
Some in the GOP are counseling that Mr. Trump be kept out of candidate forums and debates.
“His involvement in any televised debate will be damaging,” [total agreement] said Matt Mackowiak, a Republican strategist based in Texas. “It is my sincere hope that he is blocked from participating.” [It is my sincere hope that he remains visible as head clown in the clown car.]
“He’s a very toxic addition to the field," [Yes but the field itself is toxic.] said Katie Packer Gage, deputy campaign manager of Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign.
Mr. Trump so far has been invited to a number of GOP candidate forums, including one sponsored by the conservative website RedState slated for early August in Atlanta. Erick Erickson, the editor in chief of RedState, said he had concerns about including Mr. Trump but extended an invitation. [/dance]
“We invited him yesterday,” Mr. Erickson said. “I like him. … There is a level of the conservative base who like him. My concern is that I don’t want the other candidates to be overshadowed by Trump.”
Mr. Trump hasn’t yet filed paperwork with federal officials to start his campaign. A campaign spokeswoman said the paperwork would be filed within the 15-day window allowed.
In his announcement speech, Mr. Trump criticized U.S. efforts to control illegal immigration and said that Mexico is “not sending their best” to the U.S. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems. … They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
Mr. Trump stood behind his comments on Thursday in an interview with Fox-owned WNYW TV. “We take them and we don’t know what to do with them and we don’t bring them back,” Mr. Trump said of his comments on Mexican immigrants. “I don’t know what’s controversial about that.”
Some observers say Mr. Trump strikes an anti-Washington and anti-establishment note that resonates with many voters. In Iowa, he was well-received by activists who appreciated his blunt talk and status as a political outsider, said Cody Hoefert, co-chairman of the Iowa Republican Party. “They are just yearning for leadership and honesty. [I will admit that Trump shows business leadership, but honesty? who do you thing you are kidding? He didn't get to where he is today by being honest.] People are viewing him that way because of his business success,” Mr. Hoefert said.
If Mr. Trump files all required paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, he is likely to qualify for the first two televised presidential debates. [/dance] Fox News and CNN are limiting participation in the main portion of those debates to candidates who place in the top 10 of national polls.
Rick Wilson, a Florida-based Republican strategist who isn’t affiliated with any of the candidates, said he’s advised two presidential candidates already to ignore Mr. Trump’s attacks.
“He’s not constrained by political reality,” [Or reality for that mater. But then again most of the GOP is anti reality.] Mr. Wilson said. “If you chase that rabbit, it won’t go well for you.”

George W. Bush Cashes HUGE Check From Homeless Shelter

He charged 100k to talk at a homeless shelter. Still taking money from the citizens he helped make homeless during his two terms.

/sigh. Let's get the facts straight on that one, shall we Lordgrim? Bush didn't charge 100k to speak at a homeless shelter, 100k was his normal fee and they chose him because he was cheaper than most other entertainers and political figures. The director called the fee a "bargain" because he was a big name draw and the event netted the shelter over 1 million. The director sent him a thank you note afterward.
Now, should he have given the money back? That's a different debate, but you're going to have to call out a lot of celebrities and politicians for stuff like that. Dubya isn't special in that regard.

How about since July 4, 1776 to today? There have been portions of time where we have had similar oligarchical periods similar to feudalism.
It depends on what you really consider "feudalism" and what you generally understand the elements of it to be. There are many periods in history where if it werent for government regulation, we'd be going back to liegelords and serfs like the whole thing never happened. Except with like guns...and motor vehicles.

Quote: Trump says he is running for president in 2016
NEW YORK, June 16 (Reuters) - Real estate mogul and TV personality Donald Trump said on Tuesday he is a candidate for the Republican nomination in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
"I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created," Trump said in a launch speech at his Trump Tower skyscraper in Manhattan.
The outspoken billionaire, widely seen as having little chance of winning the nomination, will certainly enliven proceedings as he joins an unusually large group of Republicans vying for the presidency.
Eleven Republicans have announced they are running for next November's election, the latest being former Florida Governor Jeb Bush who launched his candidacy on Monday.
Trump, 69, who owns several hotels and hosts the reality show "The Celebrity Apprentice" on NBC, toyed with running in past elections but decided against doing so.
Trump features 12th in a Reuters/Ipsos online poll of 13 Republicans who have either declared their candidacies or are likely to. Bush led the poll.
In other surveys, Trump has high negative ratings, with more than 50 percent of Americans saying they will never consider voting for him.
