Does it matter who runs, or what side wins. Our system is so out of balance its ridiculous. Both sides will get one or two people who are moderate to centrist, and the rest will be far left and far right. The moderates/centrist won't be given the time of day, because the rest of the field is so far on the edges, they are seen as not having a chance to win against the extremist from the other party. This leaves us with a few candidates who generally aren't willing to work with the other party.

There have been portions of time where we have had similar oligarchical periods similar to feudalism.

It depends on what you really consider "feudalism" and what you generally understand the elements of it to be. There are many periods in history where if it werent for government regulation, we'd be going back to liegelords and serfs like the whole thing never happened. Except with like guns...and motor vehicles.
So, at least we all know the flowerhead syndrome is spreading to the left.....

Oh, that's right. I forgot that we adjusted the spectrum so that a self-described socialist who is considered by many to be one of if not the most left-leaning Senator... is actually dead center. You know, just like every other Democrat.

No the spectrum isn't adjusted, it's just that everyone to the right of center thinks that everyone who disagrees with them is a leftist socialist communist ***.

We're talking about Bernie Sanders. That's not just a guy that the right thinks is a leftist socialist. That's a guy who calls himself a leftist socialist and is completely cool with it.

True, running for office is just a publicity stunt for Trump. He's known for shameless self-promotion and slapping his name on everything. Just ask the people of NY who've been staring at 5 story tall TRUMP's on every building he owns.

As for the second point, what part of his general public persona would make you believe he is in his right mind?

Actually in the Republican clown car the best two prospects are Rubio and Walker IMHO.

I have given serious thought to honestly rating the chances of everyone in the Republican clown car. Without sarcasm.

Its more research than I wish to put in with XIV's Heavansward expansion calling on my interweb time. But it tempts me nonetheless.

Which is why I have been thinking about rating the chances of the candidates.

Univision dumps Trump, cancels Miss USA over his comments about Mexicans

CNN Money

Quote:
Univision is canceling its telecast of the Miss USA pageant, an event partially owned by Donald Trump, to protest Trump's offensive remarks about Mexicans.

Furthermore, Univision says it is severing all other business ties to Trump.

Univision is the biggest Spanish-language broadcaster in the United States, so its decision is a blow to the Miss Universe Organization, a joint venture of Trump and Comcast's NBCUniversal division.

Last week, in his speech announcing a run for president, Trump deplored immigrants from Mexico who "have lots of problems" and are "bringing those problems to us."

"They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime, they're rapists," he said, adding, "and some, I assume, are good people."

The comments caused an outcry. Jorge Ramos, a prominent Univision host, called Trump's remarks "absurd" and "prejudiced."

On Thursday, Univision said its entertainment division is "ending the company's business relationship with the Miss Universe Organization, which is part-owned by Donald J. Trump, based on his recent, insulting remarks about Mexican immigrants."

"At Univision, we see first-hand the work ethic, love for family, strong religious values and the important role Mexican immigrants and Mexican-Americans have had and will continue to have in building the future of our country," the company said. "We will not be airing the Miss USA pageant on July 12 or working on any other projects tied to the Trump Organization."

Representatives for NBCUniversal did not immediately respond to requests for comment, but Trump fired back on Twitter and with a statement.

"The Mexican government and others are putting tremendous pressure on Univision to break their signed and fully effective contract with the Miss Universe Organization because Mr. Trump has been exposing to the public, and the world, the significant damage that is being done at the southern border, and the terrible and costly trade deals that the United States is incompetently making with Mexico," Trump said in a statement.

In a tweet, Trump said, "Mexican gov doesn't want me talking about terrible border situation & horrible trade deals. Forcing Univision to get me to stop- no way!"

Shortly after Univision pulled the plug on Trump, the man who was scheduled to be the Hispanic host of the Miss USA pageant also quit.

In a statement addressed to Trump, Cristian de la Fuente, a popular actor from Chile who has appeared in TV shows like "CSI Miami" and "Ugly Betty," said, "You are ignorant, racist and anti-Hispanic."

Univision emphasized that the decision involved its entertainment programming, not news.

"Univision News and the local news division will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of all candidates, including Mr. Trump, to ensure our audience continues to have access to all points of view," the company said.

Univision president and CEO Randy Falco made the decision to break ties with Trump. He considered the views of both his Spanish-speaking audience and his employee base, which is 80 percent Hispanic.

The decision is a remarkable reversal, given that Univision struck a long-term deal with the Miss Universe Organization just five months ago.

The deal -- reportedly five years long -- called for Univision to broadcast and co-produce the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.

With Univision out of the picture, NBCUniversal might seek to televise the pageants on its competing Spanish-language network Telemundo instead.

But NBCUniversal may also face calls to break -- or at least suspend -- its business ties with Trump, given his incendiary comments and his ongoing bid to be president.

Disagreeing with a progressive / liberal = hate crime. They create some fantasy that they all agree to believe in and call it a fact, someone else comes along and disagrees with that fantasy and they then shame you into submission by calling you various names and subjecting you to public ridicule. Best response to them is the same as your 5yo kid sister / niece when she insists that flying pink elephants are real. You pat them on their head and smile while laughing at the utter ridiculousness of their statements.

Take that whole picture about feudalism. It's purposefully designed to invoke an emotional reaction from anyone reading it, one of shame and anger. It's designed to create hate and a mob mentality, not educate or discuss a topic. A central key to feudalism is that serfs had no property rights and were slaves since birth. Nothing a serf did could elevate them to above being a serf and most importantly they were completely at the whims of the landed nobility when it came to legal matters. The closest thing the USA ever had was the southern slave trade where slaves were forced the work on the lands of the plantation owners and had no rights at all. Nowadays the average American citizen lives such a life of luxury that they get enraged at the idea of another person living in even more luxury then they have themselves. They want the benefits of success without actually having to put effort towards attaining it and are envious of anyone who has attained more then them.

Having seen what the truly destitute are willing to do just to survive, well I have nothing but complete contempt for those of the progressive political slant. If they truly believed in what they preached, and weren't just envious, then they would be volunteering more of their time to help the underprivileged or even going to developing nations and doing work there rather then sitting back in their air-conditioned room with all their modern electronic toys complaining how they couldn't afford another new car.

I think that's the key to a successful GoFundMe campaign, appeal to the the feels. Rather than try to create something meaningful, I think if I just grabbed random pictures off the internet of starving children and started a campaign to feed 'em, it could work. Then just pocket the money as you don't have to wait until the campaign or funding goal is reached to access the money.
