Lol. Whoever wrote that headline needs to work on their paraphrasing. And it's not amnesty.

They came here illegally and they get to stay right, sure sounds like they aren't being punished for the crime.
Ok. Still not amnesty.

Feminist critics claim the video objectifies women because it uses slow motion...

“I feel as though there’s some sense that society trivializes female experiences”

Its tough being part of the patriarchy these days.

Deal reached to allow pension plans to cut benefits

The most troubling part to me:
Quote:
But managers of deeply troubled funds say that absent a federal bailout, which they call politically infeasible, cutting benefits is the only way to save them. Last week, more than 1,300 employers sent letters to members of Congress urging lawmakers to back the proposal to allow benefit cuts.

Bailing out people who worked for a living? Infeasible.

Bailing out big banks who screwed over themselves and actually helped put these pension groups in this situation in the first place? Too big to fail!

I think the entire problem with that phrase has always been the omitted words.

"(Campaign contributions make them) too big to fail!"

I'm at a loss for what, exactly, Greenpeace does. They aren't confrontational enough to have any real impact and they randomly do stuff like this. It's almost like there's a militant splinter that pulls these stunts.

I guess because John Boehner alone decided that we didn't need a more transparent government, we won't be getting one, despite unanimous Senate support.

And Boehner kills #FOIA improvements.

He didn't kill the bill, he just tabled it. Regardless, he's an idiot. Anyone who tables or vetoes something that has heavy bipartisan support without a really good reason shouldn't be in a position of power to do so in the first place.

I can see shelving bills that could never pass due to partisan gridlock if there are more critical issues that require floor time, but this one is pretty ridiculous. Transparency is a big issue, made bigger with recent events.

Tabling a bill and breaking for the year pretty much kills it. Then he claims, despite being the one that sets the agenda, that he has no idea what the plan is for a bill that passed with zero opposition in the Senate. The first version also passed the House, unanimously. I'm glad to see that at least one conservative on this site realizes that Boehner is an idiot.

He definitely deserves a seat in the Hall of Incompetence along with Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. I'm trying to keep my hopes up for Mitch McConnell but, given the record of recent congressional leaders, he's probably going to join them soon.

Well considering McConnell just reached an agreement to extend the budget negotiations, only to have two of his members go over his head and stop the process, it looks like he is going to be just as ineffective as his counterpart in the House.

While Boenher is a POS, why not table everything until republicans take control of all of congress? On that note why in the hell did they send a 1.1 trillion spending bill to the senate and not a continuing resolution?

Either Boenher is a complete idiot or he knows some how the dems in the senate are gonna screw it up.

Why do the republicans need to be in control of Congress to have more gov't transparency? The bill passed unanimously in the House, then the Senate added more measures to it, and it passed unanimously again. No one voiced any opposition to more gov't transparency, and yet, it didn't pass because of Boehner. And not only does he offer no explanation, he states he has no idea what the plan is or when we can expect more transparency.

You got me, either boenher's a evil genius or a massive POS. I'd bet on POS sadly.

Russia scrambles to avoid collapse.

Last time we were laughing at Putin, the ruble exchange was around 44-1. Now its at 64-1 and interest rates have been hiked 17%. But hey! Its all according to plan, right?

Oddly enough this is actually something to pay attention to. A destabilized Russia would be a nightmare.

Exit question, is the US next in line for massive rate hikes.
