Eh... Buying suits online is never the best idea...

hoppy is trying at least...it's better than my sew a bunch of stuffed animals together idea... >.>

we need to know what he is using it for... because if it's just to go bail his kids out of the principal's office... he might be better off with a nice sports coat in his price range

You're lucky enough to be appreciated by your employer. A lot of companies see you as the enemy for wanting to advance your career.

Hell, when I worked at Walmart and transferred stores my managers treated me like I hit their collective pet collection in one fell swoop with a snow plow.

Having to hire and train new, reliable people is apparently the shittiest thing in these people's world.

Sadly that kind of mindset is the norm in my experience. I admit that experience is limited, however.

what exactly do you need the suit for?

sorry for the delay, no rest for the wicked, and all that.

I have a bunch of weddings I have to attend this summer, as well as my half-brother's graduation. Plus I keep getting dicked into going to these chamber of commerce things, charity BS, ect., ect. basically need better situational camouflage.

300-400 wasn't necessarily a hard cap, it was more of an arbitrary number dreamt up by a dude who's never purchased a suit.

He's right. Most people won't bat an eye; they're not there to see you. They're not even there to see the groomsmen that end up in monkey suits.

They're there to see the bride and ensure the groom is well-dressed enough to be pictured next to the bride.

I have a tendency to over-dress for things because that's what I was raised to do, but really unless it's a very specific style of wedding (that is, say, a mob boss' only daughter or something), a pair of slacks and a sport coat will get you by. Anything more is commendable, but probably unnecessary.

Edit: Also, damn. Nik, if that's indicative of current fashion my ties may as well be those little 3/4" 80s things. That's one fat ***' tie.

I'm the opposite. I hate formal wear. I hate dressing up. And I hate how much emphasis people put on it.

I will do the bare minimum. Always.

I went through that period from ages 3-26 or so.

At some point dressing well became something enjoyable from time to time, however. Wouldn't want to do it every day, but...eh. I dunno.

I have been, but at one charity thing, we were supposed to be black-tie or hobo. well some *** in a suit at the bar was like, "huh went with hobo, eh?" I was pretty tuned up and not ready for a fight with an 80 year old at a fundraiser, so I tucked my tail between my legs, and said 'yup, I guess' like eyore(sp?) from winnie the pooh.

It doesn't haunt my dreams or bother me or anything, but *** that guy!

And this is one of the rare instances where you are grateful that the company's policy of having the air conditioner cranked down works in your favor.

I love people who specify the manner of dress for weddings.

There's been at least two where people were wearing jeans, of all ***' things. Me in springy tea gown and teh beau in a suit, and we've exchanged the "WTF?" look.

On that note, that is a really wide tie. I wish gaudy, paisley ties would go away.

EDIT: Have to agree with Ramy. It is nice to get dressed to the nines on occasion.

for a wedding especially in the spring/summer, i'd wear nice slacks, a button up that you'd wear with a tie, then don't wear the tie, leave the top two buttons undone, and wear a light coat or blazer.
