The trivia thing is actually about 90% complete, but I can't actually test anything until I fix the messaging queue on my development box. It doesn't work and I don't know why. No errors, no log messages, just nothing. Keeping at it, though. As far as other tasks, I'm actually reversing course on my Lodestone parser and just going to parse the dats directly, like we do for XI. I had an almost functional dat reader a year ago, and decided to dust it off (partly because IDs between LE/dats/lodestone don't match, and that introduces other problems). I probably won't write anything as complicated as POLUtils, but a basic dat extractor would be neat for a lot of reasons. Getting XIVPro ship shape is basically Priority One right now, since the XI side is in better shape and the drunk BBCode is implemented.

It wasn't a ton of work - the chat code already gets me 80% of the way there. It's just not being able to test anything that's holding it up. I've probably spent about two actual hours on it, and most of that was cleaning up the chat code (which needed done anyway). It took way longer to fix the item tooltips, for example (though that's a function of the way job flags are handled). So, for so little work, the payoff doesn't have to be very big at all. Even if it only gets used a couple of times, I learned more about the guts of the chat code, and people got some enjoyment out of it. Plus, it was something to work on that wasn't "keep hacking away at the Lodestone/XIV dat files until they give me what I want". Isn't that enough? Anyway, it was never top priority - just something I thought I could crank out relatively quickly that people might enjoy. It didn't turn out to be quick, but that's how it goes. At this point I'm keeping at it because I need to be able to fix the chat code too, and all the breakage is common to both of them, and I do try to do the things I say I'm going to do.

EDIT: Late. Rooks approached me about integrating it with the existing chat function. The only reason I never pulled the trigger in thread-form is because of the pervasive attitudes that manifest on here.

Morning all.
I still think friday trivia is a fun idea. friday afternoons everyone in the professional world is mentally checked out anyway, & it's always a pain in the *** trying to get things done. I don't know why you'd let an admittedly evil dude foil your plans for a good time. maybe people will play, maybe no one will, but we won't find out unless we try. /shrug whatever. how's everyone doing on this fine thursday morning? I know less & less & would rather being doing just about anything other than work today. I might have to take some vacation... just grouchy.
