Mega Lucario is probably his Final Smash.
At 22 characters now that's basically the middle ground of Melee and Brawl like Sakurai said for a roster my faith in Ness and Captain Falcon returning is dwindling.

It looks like Assist Trophies are coming back.
Either that or Adventure Mode/Boss Battles. Which we kindof knew Boss Battles were coming back anyway I guess. Lucario's final smash should be Raging demon.....
either that or Close combat... a command grab that goes thru projectiles... If they didn't have Lucario as a playable, I might have considered for 2 seconds not buying the game.
Then I would have laughed and told Nintendo  Maybe...just maybe...they aren't going to reveal the locked characters. There may be at least 10 of em that aren't mentioned in the roster, but they're keeping a surprise?
Or at least I'd hope so. Another alternative to having Lucario's final smash, of course is to have him go Mega. As typical as it would be, still would be neat.

I really hope there are still a ton of unlockable characters, stages and other stuff. That's one of the best things about Smash Bros. And with that I also hope they won't reveal every single character. Have some surprises for us when we purchase the game.

oh yay, Diddy Kong is back....
...they let Diddy Kong back in but failed to give the fans what they really want! Where's GENO??? So kinda a secret leak based on how you read today's miiverse post. Sakurai announced the return of the smash ball for final smashes. He also stated that he hasn't shown a single final smash but if he did he would take longer than a month.
This states that there is more than 31 characters in the final roster. Hooray there is still hope for Ness and Captain Falcon lol I was expecting Yoshi last friday but I guess Sakurai will wait with revealing him until the Japanese release date for Yoshi's New Island.

Yeah Square still owns Geno and Mallow however Nintendo and Square seem to have buried the hatchet so it's possible but we already have enough representatives of the Mario Universe though no matter how big a fan of Mario RPG I am.
I'd love to see Tiz from Bravely Default if we were going to get a Square character. His moveset would be interesting since he has 24 jobs to use as well as any weapon you can think of. And since Nintendo is happy with the sales of The game in the states is highly likely.

Charizard and Charizard X(most likely final smah for WiiU) Zero Suit Samus(stand alone character now) Sheik(Stand alone character now) Yoshi Mega Lucario(Final Smash all attacks are fully powered) No Ness or Captain Falcon yet but then again they have been there from the beginning and Sakurai probably didn't put them in the Direct so he can still release characters throughout the months. Most importantly... MEGAMAN'S FINAL SMASH IS ALL THE ITERATIONS OF MEGAMAN SHOOTING!!!!!!!! I SAW X AND MEGAMAN.EXE THEY HAVEN'T DIED SO HAAAAAAAAAPPY

Totally wasn't expecting Greninja being playable...
I love how he can use Substitute as his dodge roll.
Also Charizard is stand alone forgot to put that. Another cool addition is Custom Move Sets that are only usable in Couch Multiplayer and Online Friends Only modes.
