HM - Mijin is a non-elemental breath attack, so Unda won't help (but both 1hrs and OFA will). Above 25%, I like to use Flabra to resist the slow from Cross Reaver, which can overwrite Haste if it lands. Below, you may want to use Tenebrae to resist the damage if he manages a Light skillchain. If you find that he's WSing too frequently and worried that a Light might put his damage over the edge to kill you, tell your DD's to wait a moment after a CDC before feeding him more TP, which can cause him to miss his skillchain window. Try to save Battuta for Brazen Rushes.

Doesn't work that way. L2/3 skillchains attack with multiple elements and use whichever resist is the lowest. The only skillchain that does exclusively light elemental damage is transfixion, the same with dark and compression. "Light" does Fire, Light, Wind and Thunder damage to you with whichever you have the lowest resist being used. Buffing your light resist would only cause it to do the ME check using Fire, Wind or Thunder.

It was one of those game mechanics that really works for us whenever we're using them on enemies but is absolutely horrible when used against us.

Ah yeah, that occurred to me when I went to bed last night, I recalled how puks and other enemies that absorb an element will be healed if the wrong L2/3 skillchains hit them. Might as well stick with Flabra full time then.

I do like using Tellus against some enemies who have notable Stun WS's (like Celestial Nexus Exoplates), though like with Terror, it's one of those statuses that cannot be resisted (or at least seem that way) when they're part of certain WS's.

This is my Lunge/Swipe MAB set here.

ItemSet 324455

As you can see, I was able to find a couple of freebies but goodies to make up this set.

For those who don't have Vanir Cotehardie, the Wayfarer Robe is a great alternative. Also, Weatherspoon Souliers +1 is great in the feet slot. Although Manabyss Pigaches offer a higher MAB stat, it's got -enmity on it. The Weatherspoon +1 feet offers +12 MAB without the -enmity. The legs are the +1 version of Shneddick legs. It's only 2 more MAB than the NQ version but hey, it's more MAB, that's the goal isn't it?

The Ring is new as of this month's update. Since I don't have any augmented Demon's Rings, this new Ring is great. +4 MAB in one ring slot. And if you happen to have a MAB +3 augment Demon's Ring, then all the better. +7 MAB in the 2 ring slots, not too bad.

I'm 90% certain that I'm the last person that has a pair from the ZNM era. Hoarding is a both a wonderful and terrible thing.

honestly not sure I'd drop 5~8 MAB just cause of the -enmity. Lunge/Swipe aren't, and shouldn't, be a major source of enmity to begin with, may as well enhance their actual function rather than worry about them generating more hate.

All valid points. However, for someone like me (or others) who have yet to obtain the Manabyss Pigaches, the Weatherspoon +1 feet are a great alternative.

Personally I give zero shits about the enmity (I use Manabyss), but the mittens were sitting on a mule and the gloves are never sold.

I would be closer if you server hop to Asura and bring about 9500 HP Bayld with you to donate. On an optimistic I don't have JP unlimited gil, I will probably finish it at least by the end of summer. ZZZZ H-P Bayld.

Anyone run into good uses for Mes'yohi Sword over Aettir? Know how often the additional dispel effect procs?

Got the drop in Stellar Fulcrum last night because nobody else wanted it, now trying to figure out if I can find any good situations to use it. For pure tanking scenarios, obviously won't beat Aettir's PDT II -5% and enmity+10. But maybe for more support DD-ish or some solo applications it could be handy. Haven't really played around with it much other than toying with my TP builds to retain x-hit (for which I need to use more sTP than my usual sets either for /SAM or /other, thanks to the lower delay on Mes'yohi).

Well, one thing we know about Dimidiation now is it's DEX based.

I guess it's getting a TP bonus as well? Maybe this will make it actually not terrible when you need the extra attack that resolution penalizes? DEX isn't the worst modifier I suppose. I was honestly hoping it worked like Atonement but that seems to not be the case by the way they've described it.

So, according to the new update notes (located here: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/42621) they are planning on giving Rune Fencer another enmity facilitating spell. Any speculation as to what additional effect it may have? Flash has the debuff, foil has our evasion buff. Maybe it'll be our second castable divine magic spell finally? Also seems like they're nerfing enmity gained from rune enhancement to 0. But wards are going to be undispellable finally! And so soon, just three days away.

"Addition of a magic spell with an enmity gain-facilitating effect
Adjustments that render effects gained from Ward abilities unable to be be dispelled when harboring three runes
Eliminate enmity from Rune Enchantment"

It's almost guaranteed to be a buffing spell, but the specifics of that remain to be seen.

DEX is actually a really really good modifier for a WS on RUN. RUN is largely on the light DD gear that just happens to be loaded with DEX. On BLU I can get ridiculous amounts of DEX for CDC and RUN happens to share the same gear.

Looking around at gear options the one problem I saw was a real lack of DEX in the ilvl legs slot. Has anyone started to try and build a DEX set for the new weaponskill?

Funny you should ask! Outside of most accessories:
  • ammo = Cheruski Needle (Dex +2)

  • head = Uk'uxkaj Cap (Dex = 25)

  • body = Karmesin Vest (Dex = 30)

  • hands = Umuthi Gloves/Futhark Mitons +1 (Dex = 35)/(Dex = 35 + 18 attack)

  • ring1 = Rajas Ring (Dex = 5)

  • ring2 = Thundersoul Ring (Dex =7)

  • back = Kayapa Cape (Dex = 8)

  • legs = Manibozho Brias (Dex = 12)

  • feet = Futhark Boots +1 (Dex = 24)

+Dex = 148

could go 150+ with Dex Earrings.
