Oh god. I hate that too. I live in Washington, and my mother pronunces it Warsh-ing-ton. I just want to strangle her and small babies over that.

Iowa too! You have to go more south to Missouri for the Warsh..

Strangely I say both roof and ruuf.. creek and crick.. dunno. lol

I also say, if I were to actually SAY (which I don't) attohwa chasm like the Canadian 'Ottawa', lol.

After studying Japanese language and culture for years, what really gets under my skin is when people pronounce those Japanese items incorrectly. Osode(too many times I've heard it as a two-syllable 'oh-sode' :( ), nearly all Great Katanas, Ninja spells. Even though, I realize that people haven't studied this stuff, and that I likely butcher pronouncing many of the Middle Eastern-based items in this game, I still /wrists to my self when I hear these.

Osodes and kotes, too XD

Also, when people shorten Charybdis to "Charby" it still kinda irks me.

Interesting thing to note: Beel (OP), you spelled "pronunciation" incorrectly. :P

Tiamat is actually a Babylonian myth, not a Japanese one, so I can't say what the original pronunciation was. The pronunciation guide on wikipedia says "Tee-ah-maht." (Which would be the Japanese reading anyway.)
Summarian. The pronunciation guide on wiki is correct. The summarian language is the oldest and first known civilization on our planet so advanced they knew about pluto well before the early 1900s when we discovered it, and also already knew it wasn't big enough to be called a planet. Go figure, we only recently recalled pluto and shortend our number of planets to 8 in our solar system (known as the Sol system fyi)
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that just guess work? Seeing as sumeria went away like 4 milenium ago it hasn't been spoken in like 2 milenium I'd say the pronounciation is just whatever people maed up

Not exactly. There are some tablets that hint at the pronunciation of summarian words especially dieties like Marduk. There is guess work. Theres quess work in digging up dinosaurs. The difference being is its Educated as opposed to just being speculative. Only way to know for certain is to travel back in time and visit ancient Babylonia. Since we can't do that yet (hopefully soon! YAY TIME TRAVEL ***) we can only go on educated guesses, assumptions, and what little has been explained in found tablets and early papyrus. The thing with the Summarian language that most don't realize and I firmly believe is a key to figuring out the language is that dispite being a polytheistic ancient metropolis that Babylonia was, the city allowed the ancient hebrew to live and practice their religion freely. This had huge influences upon the Hebrew and can be seen in the Book of Genesis of the Bible. The creation story of God is very very similar to the Marduk/Tiamat creation story in not only theme but in several elements that have been referenced and accepted by many scholars the world over as influencing the Hebrew religion. The influence extended into the Hebrew language. This is part of our key to deciphering the Summarian Language. Many elements of the language are used in the hebrew language that we do have plentiful records of and some of which is spoken in tight circles of Kabbalah devouts (not the hollywood version lol). Infact some of the invocation rituals and names of deities in Kabbalah are summarian in origin. Also the book of enoch (not that tiny page you read in bible study) in my belief is a huge key to unlocking the summarian language because it was written in Summarian first and later translated before being hidden.

For those wanting to learn more google the following terms:

Marduk
Tiamat
Summarian people
Mesopotamia
Dead Sea Scrolls
Enoch

:)

Oh my goodness, I am sooo glad no-one hears the names I use for things. I had never realised until now how badly I mess them up.

I tend to just say them in my head as the word they reminded me of when I first saw them. I know what I mean so as long as I am not talking out loud to someone I guess I am ok.

Meriphataud Mountains = Meredith Mountains
Sauromauge Champaign = Sarramogue Campain
Qufim = Kwiffum
Xarcabard = Zabbad
Pso'Xja = So-Ja
