Playing This Game(or Any) With Ventrilo Or Other Sound Systems Makes It Too Intimate.

I did skype with my nyzul perma but it took alot of peer pressure and I never told my family I did so out of embarassment. Nyzul was alot easier with it though.

I used vent a couple times at ls events but didn't talk much.

It's just incredibly nerdy, plus there are some conversations I don't like to participate in that are easier to ignore over text than it is when your actually talking to them.

Then it turns out I liked some folks better before the mic programs. You hear all kinds if things you don't want to lol

I love Skype, it makes it so much easier to just say things than to sit there typing everything, plus the conversations are far funnier lol.

Talking to people is incredibly nerdy ?

I come from playing on Xbox, where I originally participated in a "team speak" atmosphere for events with other Xbox members in my Ls.

After switching to comp, I found it not difficult in a sense, but less involved when was limited to only typed chat. Though after joining my HNMls, I was relieved to find out they had a vent account.

Personally I think it aids in organizing events, carrying out tasks, and passing the time. Camping things can get really boring sometimes.

Not to mention you can easily get your point across with the push of a button and a few spoken words. Makes it amazingly easier.

And as for people miss-saying words, we had a doosey the other week, a girl tried saying Xolotl, was ha-larious, like Nick cannon Ha-larious. ($30 someone doesn't get the reference.)

People need to lighten up though, seriously after reading some of the posts, it really disheartens me, QQ. Lastly, I just feel bad for the people that aren't involved in vent with my LS. They miss out on alot of "networking" and task orientated speech, that greatly aids us during the crunch. Not to mention people rarely type if half to a third of the people at a given event are on vent, D:

I don't think he means talking to people in general. But mmo lingo IS nerdy, and to hear 20 people arguing with each other in said lingo while crunching numbers aloud in an attempt to back up their arguments is very nerdy.

Every time I've ever heard people talking on vent(which isn't often since I usually play on 360), I keep wishing for a Leeroy Jenkins to show up.

Edit: In events, that is. In casual play, it's sorta different because people talk pretty normally.

Edit: I'm used to chatting from multi-player games, so vent/skype/whatevs is cool, but I'd rather listen to music while playing lol.

Who cares what other people think? If you're not comfortable talking about your hobbies then, well <_< enough people only talk about alcohol/partying/sport/what have you, nothing wrong with your hobby - ESPECIALLY if you're playing it at the time.

Edit: I agree Alriath, I play alot of CoDMW1-2, and couldn't ever imagine a day without trash talking, or aiding my teammates with real time voice direction, or observation.

It depends who you have with you on Vent.

I know ***can get crazy and entertaining in my linkshell vent depending on who's on it. I love bullshitting with people on vent while doing events. Its very fun.

I remember way back when in my sky linkshell I'd kite Kirin while singing the Pokemon song on Vent. Yes, the entire time.

I use teamspeak 95% of the time. Teamspeak 3 is what we upgrading to soon. Never liked vent. Skype is pretty weak with lots of people on.

I like playing shooting games with the sound system on. Nothing feels better at 11pm than bombs dropping and ***blowing up.

In the case of Vent, it sucks. Especially with the dim-witted kids out there who think its cool to even say one word with their crackling, pubescent voice thats similar to nails on a chalkboard.

I don't mind the usual trash talk while blowing heads off in GoW2 or something, but come on, keep the talk above the age of 16 please.

I have a love/hate relationship with skype/vent. There are times when it is invaluable, times when it is fun, and times when it makes me want to reach through my computer and perform mass murder for the stupid that gets repeated out loud (which somehow makes it more difficult to ignore).

That being said, I've made some awesome friends through skyping. I just married my boyfriend from the game (we met in dynamis) in real life and was lucky enough to have many of my skype friends in attendance at the wedding. You think skyping is nerdy? Try introducing your Tarutaru game friend to your father-in-law.

With relation to gaming? Yes, it's extremely nerdy, in my opinion. Not that that's negative by definition. I think everyone needs at least a little nerd in them.


Outside of the game? No, of course not. It's very efficient when you want to avoid expensive phonecalls.

Vent can make events so much more fun, of course that is if you dont have the whole ls on there >.>

We basically keep the info to sackholders or the main people in the event, keeps it easy and fun.....

I do believe it is what made our Dyna-Sandy last week epic win on all fronts~
